I really liked the #1 (Marlon Brando is really great) and 2 (the two stories made in parallel are really interesting).  The third one is a bit odd.

Love Brando in the film and enjoy the settings.   Coppola only planned on making one film.  The second one was a success, the third one an ambitious failure where the elements didn't really work.   I find the first one the most complete film and I enjoyed the De Niro story in the second.  The second one is very interesting but the story threads don't really come together.  I didn't really see how Cuba, Young Vito, and mature Michael was anything more than loosely tied to Michael's spiritual downfall.

AFI rated the first film the second greatest film of all time and the second film the 23rd in the late 2000s.  I guess in terms of historical impact they deserve this ranking however as films they are a bit overrated.
