Casillas, Pepe, Ramos and Baptista included in the ideal European line-up of December

The four Real Madrid players have been included in the ideal line-up voted by the ten most important sports magazines in Europe. Baptista and Pepe (eight votes), and Casillas and Ramos (five) are the back-bone of December's ideal European team.

European Sports Magazines -which comprises the ten most important sports magazines in the Continent- has announced the best European line-up, featuring Real Madrid's Casillas, Pepe, Ramos and Baptista, as well as men from Arsenal, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Milan, Liverpool and Barcelona. Real Madrid is the most represented squad in a list elaborated by choosing the best eleven players from the 98 teams that play in the English, Italian, French, German and Spanish leagues.

World Soccer (UK), La Gaceta dello Sport (Italy), Voetbal (Holland), Kicker (Germany), A Bola (Portugal), Sport–Express (Russia), Sport/Foot (Belgium), Fanatik (Turkey), Tips Bladet (Denmark) and Don Balón (Spain) are the most prestigious sports magazines in Europe. Every month they come up with a line-up comprising whom they think are the best players in Europe.

Iker Casillas has a privileged spot because he hasn't conceded a single goal in six games and continues to break records. Real Madrid defenders Pepe and Sergio Ramos are acompanied in the line-up by Arsenal's Gallas. Julio Baptista is accompanied in the attacking front by Cristiano Ronaldo, Cambiasso, Kaka and Iniesta. Robinho and Van Nistelrooy nearly made the line-up.

Maldini Tells Milan: Ramos Is My Successor

Retiring AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has told the club that they must do everything in their power to sign Sergio Ramos.

The 39-year-old, who made his debut for the Rossoneri way back in January 1985, will finally hang up his boots at the end of the season.

There has been much debate about how Milan will cope with the loss of such an inspirational figure, and Maldini has urged his beloved club to try and sign Real Madrid star Ramos.

"My successor is him, he will shortly become the best defender in the world," Maldini stated.

Milan have long been admirers of the former Sevilla defender and have been heavily linked with a move for him since last summer.

Real have stated on numerous occasions that there is no way they will sell their young starlet unless his astronomical €180m buyout clause is met.

However the Corriere dello Sport reported on Wednesday that Milan were ready to offer the 21-year-old a £3 million-a-year salary in a bid to tempt him to quit Madrid.

Ramos revised his contract until 2013 last summer but is said to be unhappy with his current pay and wants it changed again, particularly as some of the players sitting on the bench make a lot more than him.
