Posted December 13, 20159 yr The trailer for Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day: Resurgence has arrived and it brings back familiar faces, new technology, and a swath of destruction that makes the original 1996 film pale in comparison! The official synopsis reads: We always knew they were coming back. After ‘Independence Day’ redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction. First of all, we’re reintroduced to Jeff Goldblum’s “David Levinson”, Bill Pullman’s “President Whitmore”, Judd Hirsch’s “Julius Levinson”, and Brent Spiner’s “Dr. Brakish Okun”, all of whom return from the original. But we’ve also got some new fresh faces and a completely different Earth, one that united to create a global defense system based on the technology of the aliens from the first film. However, they soon realize that what they’ve built isn’t enough when the aliens come back. While the trailer for the original film was bright and playful even in its recognition that humanity might face extinction, this trailer is very dark, both in tone and look. And I have to admit that I got chills up and down my spine hearing Whitmore’s inspiring speech laid over top of the trailer. Directed by Roland Emmerich, the film stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward. Independence Day: Resurgence invades theaters on June 24th, 2016.
December 14, 20159 yr Definitely RIP to Captain Hiller. His bravery will not be forgotten . Levinson seemed to have survived, so the planet should be in good hands.
