My spin:
Kylie Bax delivered the fourth clean sheet of the 2015 tournament with a blanking of Annette Molen. Annette had taken about 1/3 of the vote against #23 Julie Henderson, but she couldn’t even muster a single vote against Kylie. So, the result sets up a showdown between Julie and Kylie for the right to move on to the Knockout Stage. Maybe Kylie is the favorite at this point?

In the other matches, Oluchi Onweagba rode her substantial frontal assets to an easy win over Bernadette Swann, and Pixie Peterson easily earned her third career victory over the winless Irina Pantaeva.

My spin:
The three results today set up showdowns in each of the three groups. Rita Tellone’s margin of victory puts her into first place over Stacey Williams, but Stacey is likely a tough matchup for Rita. Ana Paula Araujo also has a tough hill to climb, as #20 seed Yamila Diaz-Rahi looms. Finally, Amy Wesson will look to pull an upset in her showdown with #12 Daniela Pestova. My prediction: Daniela will prevail, but it will be a lot closer than one might imagine.

My spin:
Erin Gray and Coco Mitchell are happy to get wins in this year’s tournament, but each of them is now setup for an almost impossible task to try to advance. Erin will try to pull off a monumental upset against #7 Kathy Ireland, and Coco will try to vanquish #16 Cintia Dicker. Lujan Fernandez’s win is much more meaningful, though, as she is now setup for what promises to be a close match with Bregje Heinen: winner advances, loser is knocked out.

My spin:
We have our first ticket punched to the Knockout Stage! The ticket holder: Ana Paula Lemes. Wait, what? Ana Paula Lemes? Yep. Ana Paula Lemes is the first to advance to the Knockout Stage after a close victory over rookie Ashley Smith. Ana Paula only averaged 53.6% of the vote in her two wins, but it was enough!

Cris Urena pummeled Akure Wall and sets up a showdown against #19 Christie Brinkley for the group title. Manon Von Gerkan’s win nearly cements Jessica Gomes’ place in the Knockout Stage, as Jessica would need to lose big in her remaining match against Margaux Hemingway to lose her spot. Not likely.

My spin:
Irina Gerasimenko had an unexpected draw in her first match against supermodel Eva Herzigova, but she couldn’t capitalize on that performance in her second match against rookie Robyn Lawley. Robyn prevailed and knocked out Irina. That’ll setup a match against Eva, and the winner will advance to the Knockout Stage.

Renee Simonsen exploted a favorable matchup against the tournament’s lowest ranked model, Kathy Loghry. It’s nice to have the win, but the positives are likely to end there as “The Body” looms in the next match.

Juliana Martins took care of business against Amber Noelle Ehresmann, setting up a win-or-go-home match against Michelle Behennah.

Likewise, Maria Joao’s convincing victory is nice, but #11 Paulina Porizkova will probably be too much for Maria.

My spin:
Monica Bellucci’s two victories are irreversible, and she becomes the second model to move on to the Knockout Stage. Her wins were both relatively close, but the wins were good enough to move her on and join Ana Paula Lemes as the only models to do so thus far. The remaining Group 51 match between Valeria Mazza and Bridget Hall is just for pride and rankings now. Congratulations, Monica!

The other big news of the day was Carol Alt’s struggle with Caprice Bourret. Carol and Caprice drew, which eliminates Caprice from contention. But, Carol’s hopes are still alive. The one point from the draw is valuable, as it means that Carol can still win the group with a victory over Gigi Hadid. That one should be an interesting contrast of old-school and new-school supermodels.

In other news, one of my odd personal crushes, Audrey Quock, fell again to Jenna de Rosnay. Audrey is now 0-7 in her tournament career, with an AVP in the 20’s, so I’m one of the few who really like her, I guess! Jenna’s win sets up a match with Veronica Blume for the group title.

Crystal Renn struggled with Jessie Sanders but prevailed to setup a winner-to-advance match against Vanessa Lorenzo. Frankie Rayder had an easier time with Samantha Jones and will face Dominique Piek for the group title, and Barbara Carrera took care of Paula Warner and setup a group title match with the legendary Cheryl Tiegs.

My spin:
Rookie Hailey Clauson was obviously expected to have no trouble with Vicky Howard, but she posted the kind of dominant score usually reserved for the highest ranked models. Does that foreshadow great things? Her next match against Kim Cloutier will be the real test. Kim also pummeled Vicky, and she’s had proven success in past tournaments. The winner will advance to the Knockout Stage. The loser is eliminated.

Kate Bock easily got by Karen Alexander and setup a cracker of a match against Samantha Hoopes. I wouldn’t know how to predict this one! Same stakes, though: win or go home.

Finally, Kirby Griffin had a nice win over Georgianna Robertson, setting up another group title match. But, Kirby will be the decided underdog against #21 Josie Maran.
