'Beetlejuice 2': Winona Ryder Confirms Return In Sequel; Michael Keaton Reprises Title Role 27 Years After Original Film Released

Original cast member Winona Ryder confirms return in "Beetlejuice 2."
Back in January, producer Seth Grahame-Smith told Entertainment Weekly that director Tim Burton "tipped off" that Ryder was reprising her role in the sequel.

"[burton] was doing press for Big Eyes right before the holiday, and was getting the 'Beetlejuice' question, and sort of tipped people off that Winona [Ryder] would be back. Which yes, she will be back," Grahame-Smith revealed.

"I think we landed on the right idea, landed on the right approach. It's just now making sure that-for me-I don't want to s*** my pants in front of the entire world making a sequel to one of my favorite movies."
"Beetlejuice" cast member Michael Keaton will be reprising the title role, 27 years after the original film released.
"I've emailed with Michael Keaton. I know he's excited about the idea. I know Tim is excited about the idea," he added.
Grahame-Smith also updated on his "Beetlejuice 2" status.
"Where it stands now is Tim's got to get ready to make [Miss Peregrine Home For Peculiar Children], and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we're waiting in the wings ready to go right after 'Peregrine's' wraps up."
Winona Ryder, 43, who played teen goth Lydia Deetz in the original movie, appeared on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" and confirmed her participation in "Beetlejuice 2."
"Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview - like, it was very hush hush, top secret," she said.
Naturally, "Beetlejuice 2" cast member Michael Keaton is reprising his title role 27 years after the original film released.
Burton, however, doesn't consider the upcoming movie a "sequel."
"There's a script now, that I think is closer to what it could be and I'm excited about it," Burton told Yahoo! Movies. "I wouldn't call it so much a sequel, but it'll have some characters [from the original 'Beetlejuice']. It's a bit too early to say but it's definitely something that's on my radar and something I'd love to do."
"Beetlejuice 2" currently has no official release date yet.
