February 9, 200916 yr Hi Everyone! Breaking news! Did the Wall Street Journal just reveal the 2009 SI swimsuit issue cover girl? They might have! This link was just posted on the internet. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1234138723...=googlenews_wsj As the ad recession takes the oomph out of the publishing industry, Sports Illustrated is betting it can turn its iconic swimsuit edition into a souped-up marketing machine. In addition, a Southwest Airlines jet emblazoned with an image of swimsuit model Bar Refaeli will whisk VIPs to a launch party in Las Vegas this week. And, as part of a days-long Vegas celebration, stunt drivers sponsored by Nissan Motor will race cars on a lot adjacent to the Luxor hotel, with swimsuit models as their passengers. To piggyback on the unveiling of this year's swimsuit issue, the Southwest plane with the image of Ms. Refaeli will be unveiled this week at New York's LaGuardia Airport and will ferry about 100 people, including two dozen models, to Las Vegas. After that, the airline plans to use the Boeing 737, dubbed SI One, on regular routes for the next two months. Does that mean Bar's going to be on the cover? Why else would Bar's image be on the SI plane? I don't want to get too excited but it looks like it!

But insiders said the beauty is back in the running to grace the cover this time around - as is leggy mannequin Jessica Hart - if "she can keep her mouth shut. It's very secretive, and the magazine likes to keep people guessing. Last year, she opened her mouth about it, so they gave the cover to Marissa Miller instead." Meanwhile, "Leo wants Bar to be on the cover - it will really piss off Gisele [bundchen]," Leo's ex-girlfriend and current Tom Brady squeeze. HMMM! This is getting interesting! February 9, 200916 yr Thanks to everyone for all the old and new pictures of Bar. Hi Kerri! Thanks for your comments. I totally forgot about SI photographing Bar and three other models last year in Israel. I agree that If SI thought that Israel was controversial it would have never selected it as a locale. You're right like always. I also think that Bar's was in Uruguay last week not this weekend. That was probably Bar's destination when she was photographed at LAX a week ago. It was nice to see Bar's dad with her on the photoshoot especially since she hasn't been to Israel in almost two months. Thanks for you comments sweetandlow! Hi Solange! I agree with you that Bar's personal life won't have an effect on SI's decision, I was talking after the fact. If Bar's chosen she might be pressured by SI or interviewers to talk about her man. I don't agree with that but that could happen. I know that some talk shows pre-interview guests but that doesn't mean that the hosts won't ask about personal questions even if the guests requests that they don't. Leno is pretty cool about that but Letterman will go after people especially if they don't want to talk about their personal lives. Letterman can be brutal. He's made some of his female guests almost cry. It's not just him but there's magazines, newspapers that are going to be interviewing. Bar just has to be prepared which I'm sure she will be. Unfortuately there's alot of anti-semitism and anti-Israel sentiment in the world but most of it is in the Middle East where SI won't even be sold. Europe is another place but most of those people are originally from the Middle East and I doubt SI cares about what they think. Bar is not religious, she said that in an interview, but she's still Jewish so bigots we'll hate her even though she's not observant. One of my Jewish friends told me that if a person has Jewish blood they will always be a Jew even if they practice or convert to another religion. I agree that Bar's fellow Israeli SI model Esti Ginzburg is gorgeous. Good for her and Israel! Hopefully there will be more Israeli SI models in the future. Thanks Solange for all your opinions. But now the wait has come to an end. After hearing that the model would be first announced on tonight’s Late Show with David Letterman, we sent one of our editors over to the Ed Sullivan Theater during the filming to get the inside scoop. So, without further adieu, the 2009 SI Swimsuit Issue cover model is… Bar Refaeli! This 23-year-old Israeli model first appeared in the magazine in 2007. She was also voted 2nd most likely to be on the cover by COED readers, after Brooklyn Decker. So, close on that one, but no cigar. Congratulations, Bar - we’re sure we’ll be oogling over your pictures for months to come. (Not that we haven’t been already…) YEAH! TIME TO CELBRATE!
February 9, 200916 yr Ha- I don't believe what NY POST gossip column writes that LEO wants Bar on the cover cause it will piss Giz off. I mean....why would he want to piss Giz off? By all accounts, he ended it with her cause she was pressuring him to get married. And I don't think he and she are on bad terms cause after all she appeared on the music video of one of his close friends (blackcowboy group). Plus, I'm no Giz fan but why would she get pissed off if Bar was on the cover of SI? makes no sense cause of course Giz is on the cover of SO many more mags than bar and could be on SI if she wanted it, because she is still like the #1 model and most famous aside from Heidi and Naomi.And I also don't believe the part where they said Bar didn't get the cover last year because she opened her mouth and talked about the cover. She would know better and I heard they don't even tell the models before it's announced.
