Posted January 8, 201411 yr In 2048, the uncontrollable evolution of science and technology has caused crime rates to rise an astounding 400%. To combat this, the overwhelmed police force has implemented a new policy: every human police officer is paired up with a lifelike combat-model android. John Kennex (Karl Urban), a troubled detective, has a reason to hate these new robot partners. Almost two years previously, Kennex and his squad were raiding the hideout of a violent gang known as the Insyndicate, but ended up being ambushed and outgunned. Kennex tried to save his badly injured partner, but the accompanying android officer abandoned them both because their chances of survival were low. An explosion then took out Kennex's leg and killed his partner. After waking up from a 17-month coma, Kennex has to deal with a cybernetic prosthetic leg and huge gaps in his memory, which he tries to recover through visits to a Recollectionist in the city slums. Besides trying to remember as much as he can about the raid and the Insyndicate, he is also coming to terms with being abandoned by his girlfriend Anna. Kennex is then recalled to the force by Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor), and partnered with a standard-issue MX-43 android, which he promptly throws from a moving vehicle because it was a nuisance to him. He is assigned a replacement android, an older DRN model originally destined for the scrap heap. Created to be as close to human as possible, the DRN androids have trouble dealing with some emotional responses, which was the reason they were replaced by the logic-based MX units. Kennex's unit, known as Dorian (Michael Ealy), immediately proves himself unique, with a clear dislike of being referred to as a "synthetic". Cast Karl Urban as Detective John Kennex Michael Ealy as Dorian Minka Kelly as Detective Valerie Stahl Mackenzie Crook as Technician Rudy Lom Michael Ealy as Detective Richard Paul Lili Taylor as Captain Sandra Maldonado
January 8, 201411 yr I :wub2: this show, Kennex and Dorian are fantastic, hope it gets renewed for a second season
January 9, 201411 yr As far as I'm aware, this show has yet to reach the UK, but I'll be most interested to give it a look if and when it does. I find that Abrams has a real talent for creating fun action sequences and compelling (if sometimes convoluted) plots, and the unveiling of the usual 'big conspiracy' is almost always worth sticking around for.
January 11, 201411 yr It's quite interesting at the beginning, but then became a little recurrent. but very good cast and few good ideas.
April 30, 201411 yr FOX cancels 'Almost Human' after one season It will be 13-episodes-and-out for the FOX robot procedural "Almost Human." News of the "Almost Human" cancellation first broke on Tuesday (April 29) evening on Deadline.com and HitFix can now confirm that the J.J. Abrams-produced drama will not be back next season, a victim either of lackluster ratings or of FOX's already-aggressive plans for next season. FOX got "Almost Human" off to a bumpy start when it delayed its early November premiere just two weeks before launch, though a special Sunday airing helped get a sampling of 9 million-plus viewers. Despite occasional preemptions and an erratic air schedule in December and January, "Almost Human" averaged a very respectable 6.2 million viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 for its season, along with a solid DVR bump. Although the "Almost Human" numbers were flagging a little toward the end, it still did a 1.5 key demo rating for its finale in March, identical to the April finale numbers for "The Following," which was gifted with an early renewal. Both dramas come from Warner Brothers TV. "Almost Human" starred Karl Urban, Michael Ealy and Minka Kelly. Boo Fox sucks, they didn't even run the episodes in the correct order, why do they even bother with sci-fi shows, they should stick to lame reality shows.
April 30, 201411 yr Considerable bummer. It starts on the 6th of May in the UK and I was quite keen to check it out, would watching the first season still be worthwhile or is the story left unfinished?
