La Liga tempts Del Piero

Monday 15 June, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero would be tempted by a move to Spain, considering that contract negotiations with his current club are yet to begin.

Del Piero will see his contract expire in June 2010, when he will be 35-year-old with a potential market value of £10m.

“This is a problem which sooner or later we will have to face, but there is still time to think about it,” said sporting director Alessio Secco.

The Bianconeri Captain is reluctant to push for a renewal as he is expecting the club to make the first step at the negotiation table.

Despite his wish to end his career in Turin offers from La Liga, as well as the USA and China, could make him change his mind.

The same happened to Pavel Nedved who wasn’t offered a new contract and is now on the verge of joining either Lazio or Parma.

“The next season will be fundamental for Alex,” confessed President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli.

“He will be super motivated to play at the World Cup and he will need regular playing time. Still there will be time until the June 30, 2010 to sign a new contract,” concluded the patron.

But June 2010 could already be too late to keep the Bianconeri No 10 at the Olimpico as he would be free to look for a new team come January.

Absolute nonsense if you ask me...probably some bumby negotiations for a few months and a few concessions in salary, then everything will be settled.
