Begonia Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Does anyone know what an avarage model makes compare to a topmodel? So Gisele makes 42 millions what about an average model like Michelle Vawer how much would she be making a year? Quote
modelknowledge Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Michelle Vawer isn't an average model. She is a top model. She has multiple agencies and numerous campaigns. The average model salary differs greatly. There are many aspects to consider such as the market and type of model. Model's have day rates. Depending on the skill and market of a model, it can vary greatly. I know lifestyle models in London who have $1,000 day rate where as a lifestyle model of the same caliber in New York will have a day rate of $500. So estimating a models salary is tricky. A model from IMG is going to be a top earner. New York is a difficult market as its very competitive. According to the state of New York, the median model's salary is $60,000. The median salary of a model in the US is around $30,000. Michelle was in Sports Illustrated and does a lot of catalog work. So she definitely earns more than the median model. Models like Gemma Sanderson and Jamie Gunns(formerly of IMG New York) earn somewhere in the ball park of $30,000 a week just shooting catalog. I would assume Michelle is pulling similar numbers. The only difference is she does a lot less catalog then Jamie. International commercials (meaning commercials airing in multiple countries) could possible earn a model $100,000 depending upon the product and model. A magazine cover, if you're lucky, could earn you $500- $1,000. Editorial work doesn't pay as its free publicity. Runway pays a lot if your known if not maybe $1,000. Some designers pay their models in clothing (which if you sell can be worth more depending on the designer). A campaign for Calvin Klein or any major fashion brand usually pay in the 6 figure range due to the enormity of the campaign. Its usually seen internationally in print, billboards, and commercials. Commercial Fashion Models earn much more than their editorial counterparts. That's why some many well known model turn commercial. It pays better unless you can establish yourself as a top editorial model. My guess is she has the earning potential of $100,000 to $400,000 this year. IMG would not keep a commercial model around if she didn't make them lots of money. Quote
Begonia Posted August 22, 2013 Author Posted August 22, 2013 100k to 400k is pretty good, it would be very nice to make that a year Quote
Begonia Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 30k is a little for an average model. 60k is okay. I would guess an average model would make more than 30k. Who is an example of an average model? Hayley wheeler? Quote
angelina.st Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 For this kind of price.. I also wanna be a model Quote
michelabella Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 This is from the Forbes 2007 list:Top models like those on our list still bank millions, but only once a multiyear contract is secured. The days of $10,000 runway fees are over. Top models don’t even do runway. It’s considered an internship process for the hundreds of anonymous 15- and 16-year-old foreign girls who swarm the runways of New York, Paris and Milan each season. They do 70 shows in six weeks and are paid about $250 an hour their first season.A good hardworking model can make $200,000 a season. But chances are that model, once the season is over, will never be seen or heard from again.http://www.forbes.com/2007/07/19/models-media-bundchen-biz-media-cz_kb_0716topmodels.html Quote
modelknowledge Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 no an average model is a model you have never heard of... ie lesser known models and models just starting out. there are more new faces then there are established models. the average model retires by age 21. if you made it passed then and your exclusive you are earning around $60,000.the thing with shows is true but most models are lucky to book a few. runaway is a super tough gig and designer have been known to pay models in clothes. Most of the models who have threads in this places earn a lot more than $30,000. The average bellazon model earns $60,000- $100,000 since this forum likes catalog models. $30,000 in New York or Los Angeles is below the poverty line. You can't live in New York City on that salary. You need at least $50,000/ a year to live in a safe neighborhood with a roommate and to pay for your health insurance. That's why you see so many models with multiple agencies in once location as well as doing promotions. Quote

Begonia Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 how much does any Sport Illustrated Swimsuit model makes? Quote
modelknowledge Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Like I said it greatly varies. Anne V is definitely making 6 figures, possibly even 7 during her time with Adam Levine. Models who date celebrities make more money on their campaigns because of brand association. That is why so many of your SI models mostly date well known men. It's hard standing a part with so many models. As far as a sports illustrated model, look at thread. Is it filled with catalog and campaigns or is it a lot of editorials and runway stuff? To determine how much a model probably makes use the info I provided above and look at all the stuff posted for last year 2014. It will give you a good idea on what that model makes. Quote
