May 8, 201411 yr Much better than the first, it wasn't awful like I expected. Some decent action and they nailed Spidey's look and movement. Electro was pointless, but Harry Osborn was very well done. Dane Dehan is great.
May 19, 201411 yr Author Seems like this is the 'Man of Steel' of 2014 in terms of how divided critical opinions and fan reactions have been, which is a shame as I'd hoped for it to generate some real momentum for the series. I personally really enjoyed it, not a perfect film by any stretch of the imagination, but a bold, punchy and generally likeable one. The amateurish quality to Spidey's crime-fighting antics is such fun, and the perfect casting of Garfield helps. Thought the new additions to the cast fit their roles very well too, despite reservations I had about some of them. Honestly thought either DeHaan or Foxx could have easily carried the movie as the sole villain. Worth making a quick plug for 'Chronicle', another superhero film that DeHaan shines in. It'll test your tolerance for the irritating and unnecessarily distracting 'handheld footage' format, but there's a little gem of a movie beneath it.
