Alexander Meininger Quote Every week, Bazaar's booking team highlights one name to note, from the industry's best-known faces to girls who are just starting out. This week, we turn our attention to Jena Goldsack. Nothing beats a classic beauty, and the homegrown model Jena Goldsack's striking looks hark back to the days of Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell. While she wouldn't seem out of place in the 1990s, there is still something modern about Goldsack's elegance that has made her a hot favourite of designers, stylists and photographers. With a look that is both doll-like and strong, the 22-year-old has struck a chord with photographers who favour originality, with Goldsack shooting for the likes of Mert and Marcus, and Ellen von Unwerth. "Jena has this exotic beauty – piercing blue eyes that are like a tropical sea, a smile that lights up the room and a slightly wicked sense of humour," says Gemma Green at Models 1. Even with her glamorous allure, Goldsack exudes down-to-earth Cornwall charm and we can't resist following her travels on Instagram. We talk to Goldsack about her hometown of Cornwall, Peter Lindbergh and Pilates. How were you discovered? "I was discovered at home in Cornwall doing a charity fashion show for a friend." If you weren't modelling, what career would you pursue and why? "I'd like to either be a travel writer or an oceanographer – preferably in Australia where the oceans are a little warmer!" What would you say has been the highlight of your career so far? "Shooting Vogue Paris in the summer with Mert and Marcus." How do you spend your free time? "I am not much of a city girl so I try to go back to the country as much as possible, or if I'm in New York I like to go upstate – an hour's drive and you forget Manhattan exists." Do you have any travel tips for those visiting your hometown? "My hometown is the Lizard peninsula, which has amazing little beaches that no one really knows about or wants to get to because you either have to scramble down a cliff to get to them or arrive by boat. St Ives and Falmouth are both about a 40-minute drive away and have the quaintest little streets to get lost down, art galleries and some rather good pastries." What are the three products you can't live without? "Aesop cleanser, which I use with my Foreo sonic facial brush, followed by Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, which is a great moisturiser that also acts as a mask." What is your favourite form of exercise? "I have been doing Pilates for a couple of years now and really love it, that paired with boxing is such a great combo. It offers a good mix of cardio and toning. I've also recently discovered Ariel Yoga and Pilates where you are hanging in a hammock, it definitely brings the fun to a work-out." What is your dream shoot? "I'd love to shoot with Peter Lindbergh, I love his raw, no make-up, black and white beauty shoots where there is a real intimacy between the model and the camera. I'd love to shoot somewhere completely secluded and untouched like Alaska or Madagascar." Name your five essential items you wouldn't leave the house without. "My Paw Paw cream for my lips, I usually carry proper teabags for when I'm not working in the UK, my earphones, my Burberry card-holder and a lovely body mist spray from & Other Stories." If you had to wear only one designer, who would it be? "Chloé. I love the bags, shoes and simplistic floaty clothes." What kind of advice would you give to new girls to the industry? "Develop a hard skin, learn not to take criticism too personally as you can't always please everyone. Be persistent! Sometimes girls are instantly noticed and others can take years to be noticed, just enjoy the moment as there are thousands of other girls who would want to be in your shoes." Is there a model's career that you admire and why? "I really love Doutzen Kroes and how she manages to be a mother, a supermodel and a huge charity worker all in one. She has recently launched a campaign to help save elephants from extinction, I really admire when people help to give back." Let's talk about favourites. What about… …music? "I will listen to a bit of anything but I love jazz and blues." …movies? "Any action, thriller or war film; I hate a girlie movie." …food? "A roast. Nothing beats a Sunday roast, I seem to manage to find them in whatever country I am in. One time I managed to sniff out some roast beef up a mountain in Italy! source: harpersbazaar.co.uk
