OK

I usually create my scans in PNG format, and they open normally... I hope it's just a software update phase.

I 20 years scan always in jpg )I think the photo format doesn't matter for this problem.

And why does the cover-look says she´s Rachel? idkIt's not the first time I've thought it was someone other than what Mädchen magazine says.

I think it is maybe related to the fact that doing Mädchen jobs was not very prestigious and often real models (not the Munich based teenagers that they usually streetcast) didn’t wanted to be associated with the magazine with their names. As a result model names were sometimes changed. Same goes for photographers whose names were changed as well. Photographer Cees van Gelderen for example shot a lot for Journal für die Frau magazine under different aliases as he was usually rather on an Elle level and didn’t want to harm his career but wanted to take the jobs with him 😜

Yes, I agree. I just tried to re-upload some of the scans I posted today in png and nothing changed. /

A practice that's common in graphics forums is to use image hosting services. You only see the thumbnail in the forum and the full size image loads when you select the thumb. It saves a TON of server space and bandwidth.

The downside to that is that, if the image hosting server gets shutdown for whatever reason, all the images shared through it disappear with it. Thefashionspot for example, there are many threads there where you need to go through 10 pages to find a single picture, because it's nearly all broken link one after the next, all from defunct image hosting servers. Here you can still find images posted damn near 20 years ago thanks to the integrated uploading tool, which is very nice. I would even embrace paying a small monthly fee, if it helps maintaining the website to keep it going smoothly just for that.

I'm aware of that. I know of plenty of sites that, as you described, are full of 404 images.
I mentioned to the mods here that they might want to offer paid memberships to help out with server costs. It would be a kind of patron program. My vintage car forum does that to defray costs. I'd gladly pay a yearly fee.

Were you given an answer to that? As to why they don't do it?

No. The person I chatted with said only that it was something they might consider in the future.
I wonder how this site pays it's bills. I don't see any advertising, although I do have every ad blocker known to humankind installed. I even have anti-ad blocker blockers.

How are we supposed to upload anything then? It's absolutely pointless...

I've used https://new.imagehostx.com/upload.php for years and it's been rock solid and free of sleazeware, popups, popunders, redirects and so on.

Has everything gone back to normal now? Do the pictures appear normal size again?

I posted two test pics in Anh Duong thread, I see that the problem is not solved. ☹️

I thought about that too. They probably have a sponsor. Until we know more about their financial situation, we can only assume that they manage to pay the bills somehow.

I just hope that if this ever changes, they will let us know about their struggles instead of shutting down the forum. This place is great and one of a kind, it has to keep functioning.
