May 28, 200915 yr 'Project Runway': Inside Season 6! After an endless legal battle kept the series in limbo for nearly a year, Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum, and Co. finally return on a new network, in a new city, and with some brand-new twists (including a spin-off!)MoreHeidi Klum had envisioned a major overhaul for Project Runway's sixth season. A different color palette for the set. New seating for the judges. A spruced-up, elongated catwalk. In a word: change. After five seasons in New York, the hit reality competition for aspiring fashion designers was moving to both a new city, Los Angeles, and a new network, Lifetime. And the show's statuesque host had her heart set on a revamped world. But when she first stepped onto the soundstage in downtown L.A. last fall, she almost fell over in her stilettos. Before her was an exact replica of the Manhattan set that Runway has used since 2004. Same logo. Same lighting. Same everything. ''I was shocked,'' Klum says. ''It was déjà vu. I was looking forward to different scenery, and everything was the same!''Well, there can be comfort in familiarity, right? Especially in times of turmoil. And lately, there's been nothing but turbulence in the Runway universe. Beginning in April 2008, the hit series became the disputed pawn in a trio of lawsuits between The Weinstein Company (which owns a majority stake in the show), NBC Universal (parent company to the series' original network, Bravo), and Lifetime (which bought the rights for seasons 6 through 10). The legal deadlock kept the fate of the entire series hanging in the balance for almost a year. ''By the end of production [of season 6],'' says new exec producer Jon Murray, ''we started to joke around, like, 'Are we going to have to show this to our friends and families in our living rooms?'''Nope. Thanks to a resolution reached in April, Runway will soon be back in almost everyone's living room. Season 6 premieres Aug. 20 on Lifetime, amid a blowout marketing campaign that is one of the biggest in the network's 25-year history. Between Runway and a new spin-off
May 28, 200915 yr How She Does It: Heidi Klum The supermodel-turned-businesswoman dishes on heart health, diet and more! You know her best as the larger-than-life Victoria's Secret supermodel and savvy fashion critic who aufs less-than-impressive fashion designers from the hit Bravo program, Project Runway. Now, model, television star and businesswoman Heidi Klum has turned her golden touch to a new cause: women's heart health. We caught up with her to get the scoop on her involvement with The Heart Truth campaign, a national effort sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and supported by Diet Coke. Read on to learn about the inspiration behind the limited-edition Diet Coke Red Dress Charm she designed for the campaign (She'll be wearing it at the Academy Awards come February 22!), as well as an inside peek into her life with Grammy award-winning husband, Seal, and their three children. Why is heart health important to you? Heart disease is the number one killer of women in America, but it doesn’t have to be. By keeping a heart-healthy lifestyle, you can help reduce the risk of heart disease. I want women to start thinking about their own health and the things they can do to stay heart healthy. How did you get involved with Diet Coke and the NHLBI campaign? I partnered with Diet Coke last year to bring attention to the issue of women’s heart health. I reached a lot of people last year, and this year my goal is to reach even more women! It's important that they get tested in order to stay healthy. What inspired you to create the Red Dress Charm? I designed the Diet Coke Red Dress charm in the shape of an hourglass to remind women that it's time to take steps to lower their risk factors for heart disease. Take care of your heart--today! You can enter to win a limited-edition version of the charm on DietCoke.com, and also get information on heart disease, risk factors and ways to start improving heart health. What other types of charity work are you involved with? I’ve worked with the American Red Cross, Baby Buggy, Nelson Mandela and a small orphanage in my hometown in Germany. It's always great to be involved, whether it's by donating or creating awareness for something people don't know about. I have the ability to do both, so I do. I’m hoping that other women will get involved and join me in getting the word out on heart health. I’m asking them to go to DietCoke.com where they can forward the message of heart health to friends and family. What other projects are you currently working on? I’m taping the next season of Germany’s Next Top Model and another season of Project Runway. With three kids, a husband and a full-blown career, how do you manage your time? It’s a challenge for any working mother. I make a point of spending quality time with my family as they are my top priority. What is your go-to last-minute meal? Anything I can make quickly that is healthy but delicious. I like to try out different recipes on my family; they always give me very honest feedback. Plus, I always have healthy snacks like hard boiled eggs, carrots, wheat and gluten-free crackers and bananas in my bag. In terms of meals at home, there is always a fully stocked fridge since we cook every day. I cook everything from meatballs and homemade chicken soup with vegetables to kale salad and schnitzel. You name it, we make it--and it's all fresh and organic! Has your diet become more or less strict since you’ve become a mother? It's all about moderation and balance. I love healthy food--it's part of my lifestyle and now it's party of my children's lifestyle, too. Just because they are kids doesn't mean they need a different diet. They eat everything [we do], which makes me very proud of them. What’s the last thing you do before you go to bed at night? I put on my In An Instant serum and eye cream. Then, I kiss my husband!
May 28, 200915 yr LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Just months ago, the future of "Project Runway" was in doubt - but now, show mentor Tim Gunn says the fashion competition is back and better than ever. "After five seasons, the show needed a booster shot," Tim told the June 5 issue of Entertainment Weekly. "Los Angeles is indisputably the home of the red carpet," he said. "It's the home of film and television costume, and it has a celebrity dimension that New York doesn't have. Watching the first elimination this season, I thought, Wow, we should be here." And Hollywood glamour will play a role on the show, with judge and designer Michael Kors adding that LA style will affect "Runway's" contestants' designs. "LA can be the most laid-back and the most glamorous," Michael said, adding that challenges would include fashion for the red carpet and the beach. "It's the land of bikinis and gowns." The Southern California location also lent itself to the presence of Hollywood celebs, including Christina Aguilera, Eva Longoria Parker, and Lindsay Lohan, who will serve as guest judges throughout the season. And Tim added that fans should expect the unexpected with the new season - and in the show's future. "We have a challenge, the outcome of which will have the blogs going crazy!" Tim said. "I'm surprised I didn't need CPR when it all came down the runway, because I'm still in such a state of shock about it." He added that future seasons would be more comfortable "pushing the envelope." Still, one thing hasn't changed - the familiar set. "I was shocked," host Heidi Klum told the mag. "It was deja vu. I was looking forward to different scenery, and everything was the same!"
