April 19, 201312 yr TLM10: THE LAST PEOPLE - STAZ LINDES Text and photography by DAVID MUSHEGAIN, March 27, 2013 source: thelast-magazine.com/?p=12053 Staz Lindes was born in London but I would call her a local LA girl as she grew up here in Santa Monica. Staz is one of the coolest girls I know in LA. In some ways she is following in her parents’ footsteps. She plays music just like her dad Hal who was a member of the band Dire Straits. And her mom Mary was a gorgeous model in the Seventies. Staz has both of the traits nailed. She’s a great musician and a great model. And when I say she’s a great musician I’m not saying she plays “Stairway to Heaven” and then you say, “Wow we should totally record this for a fashion style video.” She’s no joke. She started playing cello in fourth grade and bass guitar at age eleven and then guitar. She has a pink ‘67 Hofner, a Dakota red ‘65 Mustang and an Ibanez Jet King. So anyway she’s radical and into music and this is her deal. Modeling is what she is doing now because I think she loves it too. But really music is her calling. But I’m glad Staz models. You want to know why? Because I love love love taking photos of her. I guess there is something about some models that makes then really fun and intriguing to shoot. Staz has that vibe. You kind of just want to hang out with her a lot and take photos and document what she has going on. And what does she have going on? Well she’s out and about checking things out anytime I talk to her. Usually she is off to see some punk show somewhere. Or hang out at an art opening. Or on the road to NY. Or hanging out in her pad in Silver Lake. Or checking out thrift shops or flea markets. She is what I would call a real deal LA girl. She likes the Lakers. She knows the city really well. And she just embodies the vibe that I think Southern California is about. I don’t know what’s up with LA but this city I love seems to be producing some awesome models these days. And kind of the really cool ones. For me I love personality and style and Staz has got them both. Serious she could go into her closet and come out in a new outfit a hundred times over and every time she will look really awesome. Anyway enough. If you don’t already know who she is you will. I shot Staz in the alley behind her apartamento. You can follow her on instagram at @yostazyo. More of David Mushegain’s work can be seen at DavidMushegain.com.
