August 20, 20159 yr The Society Management Field Trip TSMFIELDTRIP: ANAIS POULIOT X MAISON KITSUNE Love is in the air — and you don’t even need to be there to feel the amazing chemistry between the French-Canadian and Slovakian couple. We’re talking about our very own Anais Pouliot and her petit amis Daniel Hamaj, who we invited for a little makeover at Maison Kitsuné, a preppy-cool fashion house where Parisian chic and Japanese playfulness meet and thrive. Just in time for Kitsuné’s new F/W ’15 collection that rides on the matchy matchy couple look trend in Asia and particularly Korea, Anais and Daniel also hand-picked outfits embodying similar elements. Let’s see what they came up with and how they compare them to their style back home! Anais: The first outfit is something I know Daniel would definitely wear: a simple t-shirt with cute prints and dark jeans. You can’t go wrong with that! Daniel: Same with the denim summer dress, the color is beautiful and the length is perfect — it’s not too short and not too long, you know what I mean? Haha! Anais: But I absolutely love the bomber jacket in the second look on both of us. I love a good statement piece and it’s perfect that the prints are so summery as well. I think mine looks so bad-ass, but the pink denim helps balance it out and makes it more feminine. Daniel usually doesn’t wear big patterns like this so this is a great adventure for him, haha! I think he can definitely pair it with something simple like a white t-shirt to tone it down a bit. Daniel: Definitely, the colorful jacket isn’t something I’d normally buy like you said. It’s a loud print and I might not wear that as often. My priorities would be neutral colors and classic pieces, especially because I don’t really want to stand out in a crowd, so I just want to feel comfortable. But when I go out, I absolutely love to dress up! Anais: Just like the last look – I know an easy, nice blue shirt is something you would enjoy wearing because it’s very tailored and classic — but the hat and the sneakers add a little bit of a skater vibe so it’s interesting! This is a cool and young look — it could be for day or even night with the right shoes. Daniel: I also really love the red sweater with the cute fox print on you — it’s very classic and iconic, and the print just compliments you very well. Anais: It’s really interesting because people here love to wear big sweaters with writings on them, but Europeans tend to wear something more tailored and classic — almost all the guys there have crisp and well-cut shirts. French Canadians are more Americanized nowadays, it’s not as preppy and chic as Parisians; we are more casual for sure. Daniel: When I was growing up in Slovakia, I was heavily influenced by Hip Hop and the related street culture. But now I think my country is getting more Americanized as well and everyone is trying too hard to look “fashionable” or copy an outfit from head to toe in a magazine. There isn’t much originality –while in New York there’s much more individuality, and I love that. Photos: Mayleen Gonzalez (@photoboutique)
