December 12, 200618 yr Beckham breaks Lineker's La Liga record David Beckham has broken the record for the most games played in Spain's Primera Liga by an Englishman following his 104th appearance for the club. The former England skipper clinched the record after playing in Real Madrid's 2-1 defeat at Sevilla on Saturday. While the 31-year-old opened the scoring with a trademark free-kick, his side went down 2-1 to this year's surprise package in La Liga. Nevertheless, Beckham is now the Englishman with the most experience in La Liga history, deposing another Three Lions icon, Gary Lineker. Lineker, who played for Barcelona in the 1980s, told Spanish newspaper AS he was impressed with the ex-Manchester United player's contribution, but warned he could be on borrowed time at the club with the transfer window set to reopen in January.
