TooBoku Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 The idea for this thread came along when making a top ten list for fembots when I realized how many of them I actually forgot about. We can't have that now can we?Please see post below as a guideline for making a Killer Robot stub. Any help on this thread would be greatly appreciated. TooBoku Posted March 27, 2009 Author Posted March 27, 2009 As a purist, I belive we should start this thread with the original (or at least the earliest known) fembot. Robot Maria Actress: Brigitte Helm Movie: Metropolis (1927) Creator: Fritz Lang Manufacturer: Rotwang Creation Date: 2027 Function: Impersonate Maria and destroy the city In 1927, Fritz Lang released a film in Germany that left the audiences in such future shock, they left the theaters. This film was "Metropolis". The robot, Maria, was created by Rotwang, but it was at the insistence of Joh Frederson, Master of Metropolis. She was created to be the direct likeness of Maria, one of the worker's daughters. Joh's son Feder was in love with Maria- which didn't sit too well with Joh. Phew! I hope his wife didn't look like this! This silent movie is fascinatingly eerie.Metropolis is my favorite black and white film. It is also a favorite of students of art as well as film. Fritz Lang was well ahead of his time, and possibly ours. This film shows inventions such as television, well before the fact, and many others. It is said that film maker George Lucas patterned the droid C3PO after Maria from his favorite film as a film student, Metropolis. Can you see the resemblance? In the 80's, there was a reemergence of the film, and many rock stars of the time participated in the new release which had a sound track that included Pat Benatar and Dokken, just to name a few. The film was not colorized, but given tints such as sepia and blue tones. It is safe to say that this film has developed cult following. Quote

TooBoku Posted March 27, 2009 Author Posted March 27, 2009 Haha! Thanks Joe! You should know though... this thread is just an excuse to pimp out the future Mrs. TooBoku Cameron Actress: Summer Glau Show: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009) Creator: Josh Friedman Manufacturer: Skynet Class: TOK715 Model: Unknown Creation Date: 2027 Function: Advanved Infiltrator Cameron is from the year 2027. In this future, a computer called Skynet launches a nuclear holocaust and wages war against humanity. Cameron is sent from her time to 1999 to protect John Connor, the human race's leader in the future, and his mother, Sarah from terminators sent back in time by Skynet much like Arnold Schwarzenegger's characters in the second and third Terminator films. In the pilot they travel in time to 2007 and try to stop Skynet's creation. Cameron was named in homage to the creator of Terminator, James Cameron, whose original Terminator character concept was referenced by series creator Josh Friedman as he created the character. James Cameron envisioned Terminators as robotic, humanoid infiltration units "that could blend in with humanity." In keeping with this idea, Friedman introduced his character as the most advanced model of Terminator whose ascendancy over other models was defined by her ability to mimic human behavior. The decision to make the Cameron character appear to be a teenaged female with a small physical stature was also influenced by James Cameron's infiltrator idea. According to consulting producer James Middleton, "Terminators” and this is from Cameron's vision of the mythology” are actually infiltrators. If that is the case, then what better infiltrator than a beautiful, petite teenage girl?" This picture is actually of Allison Young, a soldier of the human resistance that was captured by Cameron. Cameron later assumes her form. As you can see, the influence of Robot Maria even reaches to modern day science fiction. Not only are both Cameron and Robot Maria crafted to impersonate those close to the heroes, they are even built in the same year! PS. Allison is probably more badass than Cameron. It's a shame Cameron had to kill her. Quote
TooBoku Posted March 27, 2009 Author Posted March 27, 2009 Pris Actress: Daryl Hannah Movie: Blade Runner (1982) Creator: Philip K. Dick, Ridley Scott Manufacturer: Tyrell Corporation Model: NEXUS-6 N6FAB21416 Incept: February 14, 2016 Function: Military/Leisure Blade Runner is set in Los Angeles in the yewar 2019. At this time humans have started colonizing space and have created genetically engineered robots called replicants to fight wars, do labour, and perform other services for them. Pris is one of these replicants designed to provide "pleasure" to off worlders. In other words, she is a sex toy. However, after some time these replicants start to develop their own emotions and may go awal, perhaps even journeying to earth to find a new life. A blade runner's job is to find these wayward replicants and kill them. This was not called execution. It was called retirement. Pris is one such replicant to make it to the earth's surface and live among the people... until the blade runner found her. Quote
TooBoku Posted March 27, 2009 Author Posted March 27, 2009 Vanessa Kensington Actress: Elizabeth Hurley Movie: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) Creator: Mike Myers Manufacturer: Dr. Evil Model: Fembot Function: Assassinate Austin Powers In the second Austin Powers film, Vanessa is quickly revealed as a fembot after inexplicably malfunctioning and self-destructing. Austin briefly grieves, but quickly gets over it, enjoying his freedom and taking up with Felicity Shagwell.Kensington's self-destruction at the beginning and Austin's apparently genuine but very, very short grieving period are satires of how the women in James Bond movies are inexplicably not in the sequels to the previous films and how they are never mentioned again. When Austin reveals to Basil Exposition that Vanessa was really a fembot, Basil replies, "Yes, we knew all along, sadly," and the two quickly drop the subject as if nothing had happened. Numerous discrepancies, such as the reason Austin was partnered with Vanessa if she was known to be a Fembot, why she did not betray him earlier, or what happened to the real Vanessa, are never explained. There are also several inconsistencies to this storyline, such as the fact that Frau Farbissina did not evidently create the fembots until some time after Austin was partnered with Vanessa. It is possible that Vanessa was switched for a fembot between the time they stopped Dr. Evil in Las Vegas and when they got married. Quote
TooBoku Posted March 27, 2009 Author Posted March 27, 2009 Casella 'Cash' Reese Actress: Angelina Jolie Movie: Cyborg 2 (1993) In some countries it was released as "Glass Shadow" Creator: Michael Schroeder Manufacturer: Pinwheel Electronics Model: "Glass Shadow" Prototype Creation Date: 2074 Function: Corporate Espionage I wonder how many people know Angelina Jolie played a killer cyborg. To be honest myself, I thought "Hackers" was actually her first movie. Fortunately, I am wrong. Why you may ask? Well, asides from nobody actually knowing who she was back then, she was still pretty good. Even love scenes. Do you remember Elias Koteas from the Ninja Turtles movie? He and Angelina have arguably one of the hottest love scenes on film. That's right. A killer cyborg has hot passionate sex with Casey Jones! It's awesome. Other than that though, the movie totally blew. Quote
TooBoku Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 The Andromeda Ascendant Actress: Lexa Doig (BZ thread needed) Show: Andromeda (2000-2005) Creator: Gene Roddenberry Ship Manufacturer: Newport News Orbital Shipyards of the Systems Commonwealth Ship Creation Date: 9772 Commonwealth Year Class: Glorious Heritage Heavy Cruiser / Warship Avatar Creator: Seamus Zelazny Harper Avatar Creation Date: Approx 10087 Commonwealth Year I would like to take this opportunity to present you with a Pinay-bot. That's right. Filipinas represent! Haha. All kidding aside, the Andromeda is probably the single most complex gynoid you'll see in this thread. Why you ask? Well, it's because she's actually a full-fledged spaceship that got caught in a time warp for 300 years. To add to the mix, she manifests herself to the crew as a hologram as well as in a fully functioning android body called an avatar dubbed as Rommie. What makes this really strange is that Rommie is capable of emotions, even love and she will sometimes act independent of the ship's main AI. It may be easier to think of them as two separate things but actually... they're on in the same. Twisted. No? Quote
Joe > Average Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Haha! Thanks Joe! You should know though... this thread is just an excuse to pimp out the future Mrs. TooBoku Japanese Robot http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/searc...male-robot_tech Quote
TooBoku Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 I think the Japanese have something good going on in terms of kenetics but in terms of AI you should check out a guy named Trung Le and his android Aiko. Aiko is just a toy however. There's also Hansen Robotics. They've got some pretty scary stuff going on. Future Mrs. TooBoku is not a robot however, it's Summer Glau. Lenore Actress: Nectar Rose (BZ thread needed) Movie: Serenity (2005) Creator: Joss Whedon Manufacturer: Unknown, possibly Mr. Universe Creation Date: Unknown, Between 2515-2525 Model: Lovebot Function: Wife to Mr. Universe Unfortunately, there is little known about Lenore. She was a very minor character in the movie Serenity and other than a vague description of the wedding ceremony by Mr. Universe there are no explanations as to where she came from. It's a shame because Nectar is kinda cute. In her last appearance however, she is seen with her dead husband in her lap and she is programmed to relay a message to Malcolm Reynolds. The last two photos are "candids" of actress Nectar Rose as there aren't enough photos on the Internet of Lenore. Quote
Ophelia_Immortal Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 I flippin' love this thread!! and you just posted my fav ever! She was bloody perfect on Voyager! Quote
TooBoku Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 Haha! I love Seven of Nine. I thought pairing her with Chikotay was kind of weak though. Harry Kim would have been oh so much cooler. One thing is for sure though... She kicks Kes' ass. Also... I could probably guess why you like her so much Catherine Weaver Actress: Shirley Manson Show: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009) Creator: Josh Friedman Manufacturer: Unknown, possibly Skynet Class: Mimetic polyalloy Model: T-1001 Creation Date: Unknown Function: Unknown It's hard to decide what the coolest thing about her is. Is it the fact that she's the all powerful CEO of Zeira Corp? Is it the fact that she's advanced enough to raise that cute little girl Savannah? Is it because she's a beefed up version of that really scary T-1000 from "Terminator II" and can even disguise herself as a toilet? Perhaps. Or perhaps it's the fact that it's friggin' Shirley Manson from Garbage!! That's right! Former metal singer cleans up and turns uber actress! Shes totally nailing the role too! I really hope this season of Terminator: SCC finishes nice and strong so they don't have to cancel it. It seems that no one ever watches the good shows. Quote
TooBoku Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 Rachael Actress: Sean Young (BZ thread needed) Movie: Blade Runner (1982) Creator: Philip K. Dick, Ridley Scott Manufacturer: Tyrell Corporation Model: Unknown Prototype Incept: Unknown Function: Experimental Memory Implant/Administrative Assistant Okay so if you haven't seen Blade Runner yet, you should make it a point to do so. It is yet another classic from the great Ridley Scott which brings up a lot of interesting questions about the human condition and what it actually is that makes us human. Rachael was a replicant led to believe she was a human by Dr. Tyrell. After meeting Deckard she leaves the room and Deckard asks Tyrell a simple question that still brings me the creeps... "How can it not know what it is?" Just because we think we're human, does that mean we're human? Who knows... All we need to know for now though is that back in the day, Sean Young was a hottie. Quote
TooBoku Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 T-X Actress: Kristanna Loken Show: Terminator: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) Creator: James Cameron, Gale Anne Hurd Manufacturer: Skynet Class: Hunter Killer Model: T-X Creation Date: 2029 Function: Be the most badass thing ever conceived in humanoid form Okay. Seriously. She's rediculous. If all the other bots in this thread short of Seven of Nine and Andromeda ganged up on her, she would easily kick all their butts. I only exclude those two because one has Borg nanoprobes and the other is a friggin spaceship. Still... T-X's chassis is way superior to Cameron's. Where Cameron has a hyper-alloy combat chassis like a T-888 series terminator, T-X has an advanced utilitarian battle chassis protected by crystalline ceramic armor interlaced with nano-fibers of carbon and titanium. She also has a plasma cannon, a flamethrower, and a utility saw built into her arm. That's not even half of the list. Don't forget the ability to reprogram other machines, her mimetic polyalloy shell, plus all the other capabilities of a T-900 series. Basically, take Cameron, Catherin Weaver, and an M1, put them together and you get T-X. Arnold's T-850 somehow managing to protect Connor and Brewster on their way to Chrystal Peak was nothing short of a miracle. If you love killer robots, you might not want to love this one. Anyway... pictures. Even you she scares you, you know you want it. Quote
