September 14, 2024Sep 14 Have you seen the danish original? @Lilja K I've read it's disturbing 🫣👇 ‘Speak No Evil' Aiming For $10M-12M Opening; Getting Decent Reviews Christian Tafdrup’s original 2022 film, a Danish production, wasn’t even out for a year when Blumhouse snatched up the U.S. rights and quickly set up a remake for it. If you haven’t seen Tafdrup’s original, it’s certainly one of the most disturbing horror films in recent years. I have no desire to revisit it, which also makes me think twice about catching the U.S. version, especially if it’s as pitch-black nasty as the original. Regardless, James Watkins is helming the remake, and a trailer is available for your viewing pleasure. It looks like the exact same film as Tafdrup’s, only more sanitized and without Danish people. I’m intrigued as to whether they have kept the ending of the original, which was as morose as it gets. “Speak No Evil” stars Scoot McNairy and Mackenzie Davis as an American couple, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (James McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi) and their mute son Ant (Dan Hough). What begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.

My friend saw the original and said it was more shocking and disgusting than satirical.

I watched it yesterday (found it accidentally on paramount+). Well I agree it was creepy but since I had the worst expectations I wasn't that shocked I have to say (and I'm the biggest chicken in town when it comes to horror movies). Even though I would claim it's more a psychological thriller than a horror movie. I was also very impressed how less actual shocking visuals the movie needed. Beside from the end everything "wrong" was felt by everyone (the victims and the audience) during the rising atmosphere but never seen. I really don't understand the title. I thought it includes some typical religion themes (or crazy cults) but it didn't.

Atonement (is this even a question??? one of the BEST most HEARTBREAKING book adaptions EVER made. I was blown away and felt every possible existing emotion in cinema from tip to toe!!! This movie and especially the ending made me trembling no kiddin it's a kinda unmatched love story🤯) o2.) Becoming Jane (it's Jane Austen it's Anne Hathaway and James pining for each other what more can I say? It's perfection ) o3.) IT Chapter Two (not as good as part I but still close enough. Overall awesome adult cast. Even though I have to admit I had a soft spot for Ben 😚) Spoiler o4.) X: First Class (I was obsessed with this movie. OBSESSED!!! Him and Michael Fassbender were indeed another level of pure perfection. another great cast overall 💯) o5.) Penelope (really cute and kinda strange -in the best possible way- fairytale about acceptance of being different. I watched it countless times. James and Christina Riccis chemistry is sparkeling and marvelous love them 💖) o6.) Split (hands down one of his best performances. him and anya are magnificent 🖤 only adding a supernatural personality when the dude already had so many real personalities never really made sense to me) o7.) The Last King of Scotland (this movie includes one of the most shocking and disturbing scenes I EVER WITNESSED IN MY LIFE 😧🫣🤯😨 I was so mad when Forest Withaker won the oscar over Leo 🤣) o8.) X-Men: Days of Future Past (after this movie everything with the franchise went down the drain but damn what a last great ride ) o9.) Glass (was this supposed to be romantic? I mean c'mon they're the meaning of intense ) 1o.) Atomic Blonde (thought I would hate this movie and ended up lovin it. great surprise 🤩) 11.) The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (another obsession and one of my absolute comfort movies 🥰) 12.) Starter for 10 (one of his earlier movies. actually it was a fun horny very british comedy. he's adorable 😍) 13.) Inside I'm Dancing (another great performance I also LOVE Romola Garai - she's so underrated 😍) 14.) Wanted (I purely watched this movie for James in cinema back then. this scene was worth every second ) 15.) The Last Station (don't really remember much but I didn't hate it - I think it's a russian period drama!? I remember it includes Tolstoi played by Christopher Plummer) 16.) The Conspirator (same as #15. love his red lighted beard it looks so soft ) can't even less remember: X-Men Dark Phoenix, X-Men Apocalypse (I think this franchise really lost his ground at some point) on my watchlist: speak no evil, his dark materials, the bubble, my son, together, submergence, victor frankenstein, the disappearance of eleanor rigby, filth, trance (damn I have to catch up) How do I not know there is a dune tv show with James???? CHILDREN OF DUNE (2003)

It's hard to sympathize with the main character, but for some reason you're rooting for him anyway 😁 2. Atonement (2007) Teen I hated Saoirse Ronan for a while after watching this movie 😅💔 3. The twist about the abusing relationship was really something I didn't expect (god James is really at his best when playin an asshole 🤣). Somehow I wished the movie handled the character of Vincent Cassel differently. Instead of being a gangster I think the movie + story would have worked better if he were a cop and he was involved in her plan and the whole theft painting was set up in James head to get him and find his poor victim in the trunk. But the cast overall really did a great job what a rollercoaster
