Guest quasicartes Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 How do you 100% remove spywares/adwares from your stupid PC?I used SpyBot, Adaware and also McAfee anti-spyware, but I am still certain there is still some sh*t lurking around, imbedded in the hard drive. Quote
Neo52285 Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 i used adaware, spybot, hijack this, cws shredder. thats about it. Quote
Guest quasicartes Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 But still, I am sure there is still "something" in your comp, especially if you use Kazaa or Torrent or those peer-to-peer spyware-sharing softwares. Quote
avadakedavra Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 I have: ZoneAlarm <-- you can get a free trial Spysweeper <--- ditto Hijack This AdAware <--- and ditto again Spybot and CS Shredder. NOTHING survives on my computer. Quote
Guest quasicartes Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 I've used so many of those spyware-removal programs, at least 10 of them. Each time I use a program, that program will find things that other program won't find. It's like you have gassed your entire house with insecticides of various brands, finishing up like 100 cans of insecticides, still there are roaches in the house. If you only find one goddamn roach, you must be lucky. Usually, you will find a few hundred survivors. Quote
avadakedavra Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 I also use mozilla, so IE doesn't try to sneak crap on here either. Quote
Guest quasicartes Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Yeah, but you still need to use ie sometimes. I need to have my stupid ie online. Need to, otherwise, my MSN messenger won't log in and my McAfee auto-update or manual-update won't run. Anyone can solve this problem? I have set my default browser as mozilla, still it doesnt work. Quote
avadakedavra Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 I never ever use IE, unless it's something like viewing videos off Yahoo!Launch which I do like every two years if that. But since I have ZoneAlarm, nothing gets installed, because it either blocks it, or alerts me and asks me if I want it to allow whatever is trying to install itself access. Quote

Capt Snow Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Stop going to places infested with Spyware. That's your first preventitive measure. Get Spyware Blaster, this is not a Spyware remover, but it prevents Active X from automatically downloading Spyware, which is the main way it gets into your system. It's free, but you have to register for the auto update feature, which you don't need because you can update manually. Which you should do at least every week. Download Spyware Doctor, this will find many things that Spybot, and Ad-Aware will not find. You have to purchase it if you want every single function, but the free version works very well. As Avadakedavra mentioned Hi-Jack this is a very handy program, which allows you to remove operations which shouldn't be running. I recommend not using regular Kazaa because of the simple fact that it is loaded with Spyware, use something like Kazaa Lite, or better yet use a different file sharing program, Kazaa is just about obsolete. Don't install programs that you know are shady, lots of people get infected through other programs which are seemingly harmless, only to get infected by a bug after installing it. McAfee is crap all the way. I run IE only, I have Ad-Aware, Spybot, Spyware Doctor and Spyware Blaster installed, and have absolutely no problems ever. Just need to learn how to keep your computer clean, and stop going to those porn sites which infest your computer. And get rid of Kazaa, and get bittorrent, or emule, mIRC or DC++, for your file sharing needs. Quote
Neo52285 Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 or limewire...i dont get spyware with limewire....yeah mcafee is crap....norton is way better the mcafee. i again use ad aware, spyboy, hi jack this and cwshredder...i have no spyware...well cant say that i just ran the programs for the first time right now and i had 5 registered files and 50 ie files...they are all gone now. Capt Snow Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 I just use mIRC, I have never had a problem with. Slight learning curve when you first start using it though. If you know what you are looking for you can go in to your registry and manually delete the spyware and other things causing problems. I would not suggest doing anything in there if you don't know what you are doing or looking for though. Once you know what to look for though, it's pretty easy to weed the bad stuff out of your registry. Also, you may have a Trojan or a Virus, which Spyware removers will not usually find, so you may think about looking into finding those. Quote
Neo52285 Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 hi jack this is like mIRC then...if you dont know what your doing then your screwed. cwshredder removes trojans. Quote
Guest quasicartes Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Norton is good, too good. Even harmless programs will be stopped by it. Their anti-virus causes too many problems with its many "false alarms".Their firewall is worse, stops pictures from displaying correctly, even on decent websites, ie, a site from a cement manufacturer. McAfee is quite lenient, sometimes, it lets some shit get away... <_< <_< <_< Quote
Neo52285 Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 thats why i dont have norton running all the time....i limit the protection and scan when i want to scan....if not it does lag your computer big time....come to think of it i still have to install it....havent done it yet since i got my computer back. Quote
Neo52285 Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 biggest virus of them all is AOL....only reason i have it is because my parents use it <_< Quote
Guest quasicartes Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Does Norton have their anti-spyware programs? Quote
lox Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 I have: No anti-spyware No anti-virus My OS firewall Am I crazy? No, I've got a Mac Quote
avadakedavra Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 My school wouldn't let me get one <_< Quote
