  1. PART II - Podcast Interview: On Acting, Mugler, and Leo (I boldened the most interesting parts this time.) I: And where does he live, in New York? T: Homeless, just like me. We're all homeless, he's a good fit. I: So, tell me, how did the whole acting thing start for you? When did you decide to do acting? T: Since everybody on set started telling me: Be a little more quiet, stop moving so much. I've always played roles on set, I was like: I just hugged the male model, now wouldn't it be cool if we got into a fight and then I could throw my shoe at him afterwards; and everybody was like: No, Toni, it's just an editorial, just hold the shoe and don't move. I always wanted to turn 20 pages in Vogue into a story. Some, but very few photographers do that indeed. But for most of them, it's all about the posing, and it gets boring when you do it a lot. I: And then you just went to castings? T: No, no, I took acting classes. I looked for acting teachers in LA. I: Private ones? T: Not private, I took part in an actual course, there are a lot of them in LA, for a month, or sometimes only for a week. It's actually only in LA. There are a lot of theater schools in New York, you can't really drop in there. I sometimes do acting classes in NYC, but private lessons. And in London it's really old-fashioned as well, drama school etc.. I: So you did classes and learned things, and then eventually you went to castings after all? Or did production companies call you and say: Hey, we want to work with you? T: Yeah...I do a lot of auditions, that is, tapes. I record them no matter where in the world I am. I did two tapes the day before yesterday in London. A lot of people work with tapes. There are a lot of Casting Directors who don't even want to see you live, they want tapes, they only look at tapes. Therefore it doesn't matter where I am, I just need a good studio, goof lightning, I need somebody else to read to me, and...I do this almost weekly. When it comes to acting, I get maybe 1 in 10 000 jobs. It's really hard work. I: Really? 10 000 you don't get and one you get? T: Okay, it was a little exaggerated, I haven't done 10 000 auditions yet. But still, it's a lot of work, but I like it a lot. I learn a lot through the auditions and through classes, and of course I want to be preferenced for a job then. I: What was the biggest job you've done so far? T: The biggest, most well-known film will be out next week. I'm in the new Spiderman! But - not the biggest role. I'm a German agent. I: How many minutes will you be shown? T: I don't know. I just...I have somebody who helps me with social media, and the premiere is tonight in LA, I can't be there unfortunately because of other jobs in Europe, I would have loved to go there, so I asked him if I should post today that I'm part of the film or rather next week when it's out, and he was like: How long are you in it, actually? And I was like: I don't know. I mean, I was filming for 3 days, it can be just one second. My agency said: You're in it for sure. But I think I'll only post it once I've seen it, because...who knows, maybe they just show me from behind. I: So it's a small role? T: Well, I'm a secret agent. Samuel L. Jackson plays Nick Fury, and he has several secret agents... I can't say too much, I had to sign that I don't talk about it, but...the podcast won't be out until after the film is out so..., Spiderman travels through Europe all of his friends from school, he's younger now, and then there are a lot of secret agents everywhere who tell him what to do. And I'm one of them. I: And what was the second biggest film you did? T: I don't know, it depends on what you mean. My biggest role was Reeva Steenkamp [short plot summary], but it was a Lifetime production, it's still being translated and played in Europe, but on random TV networks, I still haven't seen it on TV. I: So it wasn't in the cinemas? T: No, it was a Lifetime production, Lifetime films are the classic 90 min films in the US. But it was my biggest role, I was in Atlanta for 2 months and had to learn the South-African accent. Fortunately my best friend's mom is from there, so I could practice with her. I was on the phone with her a lot. I: Is being an actress at your level as well paid for you as being a model? T: [laughs very loudly] I'm lucky if my own costs are covered. I got a paycheck recently over 2000 Euro, for 2 months of work. I was like: Yay, I got a paycheck through acting!! I was very happy. I also never get checks through modeling. So I went to my bank and was very happy. I don't really earn anything at all through acting. But maybe I'm also too lax about it, I'm just so happy to be on set. I have a few acting friends who tell me I should ask for more money. But it's just not my focus. I just love being on set, I love to learn, I love reading scripts, analyzing and understanding them. I love being somewhere for a month at a time, I would even pay money for it. I: But even for Spiderman you didn't really get money? T: I think that might have been a little more. But I've never earned more than 10 000 for anything I did in acting. I: So either you're a huge name in the business, then you get millions, or you're not, then you get nothing at all? T: I think so, yes. I'm very lucky that I'm a successful model, I don't know how other actors do it, they really hustle and become even more nervous at auditions, because they really need the jobs to pay their rents. It's really a tough life, there are so many actors and actresses. I: And what are your biggest modeling deals at the moment? T: I have several...Schwarzkopf is my main German client. I also have a cosmetics deal with Shiseido. And then I just signed something new...I'll just say it, maybe you can cut it out afterwards...I'm the new face of a Mugler fragrance campaign, Angel, we'll shoot it in Poland in 2 weeks, for 5 days, I don't really know why. These things are the most attractive and lucrative deals that everybody wants to have, hair, make-up, fragrance, because it's closeup. I: Aaaand, may I ask you, when one googles you, or reads about you, or reads your Wiki page, there's no way around the fact that you used to date an actor... T: [Almost sighing] Yeeeaah...the actors and I! I: How was that? T: I dated several actors. I don't know why, I don't know what my problem is, really. Uhm...what was the question? I: How did you get to know each other? The most famous one was DiCaprio...did you just get to know hin on set? T: That was before I got into acting. I got to know him privately. I: How does that work? T: [silence, laughter] I don't know what to say right now. I've never talked about this before, and if I talk about it now, I know that people will [didn't understand what she was saying] I: Okay, then, maybe just say why you don't talk about it? T: Because it seems to be so important to people. I can't go out on the street, I can't have a new boyfriend without newspapers writing about "Leo's ex". It really sucks. I've done so many things on my own, and I was really successful five years before I even got to know him. It's a pity that it's so interesting to people that I dated somebody once. It was a time in my life, I was very young, but it was a great relationship, and it helped me a lot personally, but it has nothing to do with my career whatsoever. It doesn't have to do anything with my profession or my success at all. I: But it's written everywhere. T: Because people find it interesting. I don't really know why. He's probably had 200 model girlfriends, why is number 200 even interesting for people? I: At least in Germany it is just because it's a German girlfriend. T: I don't know. I would understand it better if it was a German actor... I: But he kind of is in the sense that everybody knows him here, he's just as interesting. Are you still in touch? Do you see him sometimes? T: Yes, we're friends. Everything is just wonderful. It was wonderful when we were together, it still is, it ended well, there's really not a lot to talk about, there was no drama at all. I: But you'd say, looking back, that you don't like how the media write about it...one could also think it's a clever and helpful thing for you, because your name became so much bigger through it. T: Maybe my agents see it that way, or my clients who want to have a big name. But he doesn't have anything to do with my work, he's never helped me with anything, you know what I mean? I never went on a red carpet with him, we kept it very private and separate. It was just two people who fell in love, and one of them happened to have a certain image. But especially now, for my relationships afterwards, it isn't so great that there's always his name involved. It's always: Leo's ex is now dating xyz. Leo's ex is doing this and that. Leo's ex....and I'm like...so what?
  2. About Mugler: She says she signed the contract recently and it will be shot in Poland in two weeks (from when the podcast was recorded), shooting takes 5 days. So she'll be shooting it in a few days probably? 2 weeks from them are over by now. Or maybe she did shoot it while she was quiet on insta? She also says "maybe you can cut that cut that out later", I hope it's okay to even discuss it here then. Also, LOL about the bit on Chandler. She says he's an asshole (literally, it's peeped out) and the best part about the relationship was getting to know Dirk Nowitzki.
  3. More from the podcast. (More or less from where I stopped translating the last part. Trying to do it as literally as possible now) On Africa, her friends, and on where she lives Toni: I've always had godchildren in Africa with Plan International, as soon as I started working I had godchildren there. Interviewer: Because you thought it was important? T: Yes...I think, honestly, my mom just gave me the contract and said: You're 14, or 15, and you earn money, you can give 20 Euros a month to other girls who don't have it as easy. And I was like: Okay, cool. Then I had 4 godchildren eventually, and I started doing more and more with them every year, and then I wanted...I actually don't really know how it all came along, I don't know if I wanted to travel to Africa or if I wanted to raise funds...I did my first collaboration with Closed, they're also from Hamburg, where they didn't keep any money for themselves and I didn't either, and they promised to donate 100 000 to Burkina Faso, to a Plan International project for women, children, and girls. That was my first big, real trip to the Subsahara area with an organization. And ever since, I cannot not go there. I think it was also the most intense trip, it was a month before Ebola started spreading there, then there was a government coup shortly after, our hotel was burnt down a couple months later. So....I've done several trips by now, I could talk about them for hours... I: You're there, like, twice a year? T: Around twice a year, yes. I: And you're still in Rwanda etc., you just told me? T: Yes, but they're stable. Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi... everybody says Burundi is dangerous though... I: And what exactly are you doing there? T: Support women. In Ghana, I found a libanese sponsor, they built a hostel there so that women can live where there school is. That's also our main focus. I learned a lot through Plan; I did 3 or 4 trips with Plan, you're always in the car with locals. Plan has a lot of employers and contributors per country, all locals, and they tell you in the car: Here, this and that is the problem; there, this and that is the problem. You just learn a lot when you're there. And I realized - or: they told me - that the main problem in Africa are the distances, the kids often have to walk for school two to four hours a day, the girls often don't have shoes, it's dark, the streets are a problem, they get run over a lot, and therefore it's one of the best ways to support women to build hostels right next to schools. I've done that several times now, I did it in Simbabwe with 2 hostels... I: So that means: You give them the money for it? T: I either give them the money or find sponsors you can bulid it for me. I: How expensive is it to build a hostel? T: Depends on the country. In Simbabwe, around 60 000 or 70 000... I: And so you give them the money from your private bank account? T: No, I spend a lot of time at fundraiser events. I pay for my own travels, for my own team, and I decline a lot of model jobs so I can do fundraisers and travel to Africa...so that's my personal involvement. I: So, just to understand your...career planning a little better, so you get up in the morning and check whether a big client wants to book you, and if not you just do something else? T: No...my day is actually....I'd say I know a week in advance what I'm going to do. So right now, I know what I'm going to do until July 8. Afterwards....I don't know, maybe I have to move to Australia for 6 months for a movie, I have no idea. [I think Australia was just a random example here.] I never know. I have stuff with me for 2 months right now, because I know I won't be going home to New York anytime soon. But that's just because I love spending my summers in Europe. I don't like being in the US in the summer. I: Why? T: Because the Mediterranean is just way more beautiful. I grew up in Greece and I love Greece, so I'm often in Greece. But anyway...I don't ever really know what's going to happen next...I mean, I did know this morning that I was going to come here, then there's an event tonight, I knew I wouldn't be able to work out for the next three days, because I have to go to Sweden tomorrow for one day. I: What's in Sweden? T: Uhm...some Elle cover. I don't know which one. French or Spanish or ... I don't really know. Uhm... I: [laughing] okay T: There are so many. ... But I knew I wanted to work out this morning, so I set an alarm clock and went for an hour long run, because I know I'm not going to be able to work out in the next 3 days. I: You woke up in Berlin today and then came to Hamburg by train? T: No, I woke up here, my family lives here. I stay at an aunt's. Mom and Dad don't really have a home here, so I sleep at my aunt's. I don't even have a key, they have to leave the backdoor open, I love it. I: Where does your aunt live exactly? T: Everyone's in Olstedt. Everyone's in the north, that's also where I went to school. I: Do you still have old friends from back then? T: Sure! My birthday's coming up in two weeks, there will be a lot of my girls at the party. I: From your time in Olstedt? T: Exactly. We're 6 girls, two in London, two in Berlin and two in Hamburg. I: Okay, but they are not in the fashion business? T: Zero, Nobody. I don't really have good.... well, out of my bestbestbest friends, nobody is in the fashion industry. My absolute best friend is in Online Marketing Sales in New YOrk, I've known her since I was 4, from Greece. And my other best friend is an emergency room doctor in LA. I: So how did you two get to know each other? T: Through another model I used to live with when I was 16. We all did Calvin Klein together. We were 4 girls and did CK for 2 years, that often means: You're a fitting model and you fit clothes from 7am to 2am. And so you automatically become friends with the other girls. So I lived with this other girl, my first apartment in NYC, and her sister was very good friends with this other girl. All of them are ex mormons, from Utah. We've been friends since. I: But now you live alone in New York? T: Yes...I bought an apartment there 3 years ago, my first one alone. I love living with people, but .... I: And how often are you there then? T: My mom told me yesterday that I was there for 30 days total so far this year and asked me why I have it at all....I'm not there very often, unfortunately. I: Because you're always traveling T: Because I'm always traveling, because I do a lot of acting, so I'm in LA a lot, I was just looking for an agency there and had to spend a lot of time there. My whole family and many of my friends are in Europe, and almost all of my jobs as well. I don't really work a lot in New York. A lot of my New York clients fly me to Miami or the Caribbean or to Spain, they don't always shoot in New York. So...I don't spend a lot of time there, I'm not sure how long I'll still be living there to be honest. I: And otherwise you'd move to LA? T: No, I just bought something in Berlin. But probably not as my main apartment. I don't know if I could ever move back to Germany, I'm not German enough. I: But your boyfriend is...also an actor, right? T: Uhm...yes. I'll leave it there for now, with this teaser about men, haha. Lots of interesting stuff so far. Don't know if Alina and her other model friends would be amused if they heard her talk about how she has basically no model friends. Also, I find it almost shocking that she doesn't remember which Elle cover she is shooting! And it's interesting that she's bought something in Berlin already, and still considers leaving New York.
  4. Okay, I listened to the first 15 minutes at least, quick summary: - It was recorded in Hamburg in the week after she was at the Zegna show (when she was in Hamburg recently) - She says she's very nervous at the beginning, because it's all about her voice and how she speaks, not something she is used to. - the guy asks her a lot about how much money she earns, but she doesn't really want to say (understandably so), but she says it is a lot, on the other hand she does a lot of editorial stuff for free in order to book better jobs. Somethings she doesn't earn anything for a month, sometimes it's a lot of money every other day. - They talk about how she was discovered, nothing really new here. She says she didn't know how the fashion world works and only slowly understood what it all meant, agents had to talk her into doing Vogue shoots, she wanted to do a math exam instead etc. (But we've heard most of that before.) - Then they talk a lot about social media, most interesting part so far. She says she switched from Blackberry to Iphone only because of Instagram, but still prefers Blackberry. Mainly because when she's in Hair & Makeup, she could still write emails with the blackberry without touching it (I don't know how this really works?), nowadays with the Iphone she has to dictate her emails and everybody can listen. She also says she has an app that limits her social media time. She doesn't really want to do a lot of Instagram, nor hire a personal photographer to follow her around and take pictures like others do. At the same time she knows she should do more and she knows that her content is not as good as other people's sometimes, but she doesn't want to take selfies all day or destroy moments with her friends by taking pictures all the time. The only time she's really interested and passionate about Instagram is when she wants to raise funds for Africa. On her field trips, they always travel with photographers so they have professional material for fundraisers afterwards and she spends a lot of time on Social Media when she comes back from day trips in Africa (if there is any internet connection at all). She also talked a little about sitting Front Row at Zegna and says she earns as much or more money just sitting there as she would earn walking - but she claims she'd rather walk than sit Front Row, but the fashion world has changed. That's it so far...I really like her in this podcast, it was more interesting than the normal stupid interviews she has to do, and she seems very sweet in this. Also, I have to say I appreciate her Instagram precisely because it is authentic and funny and doesn't have a lot of polished content - actually the polished, photoshopped pictures she sometimes posts for clients are the ones I enjoy the least.
  5. @kissnena I'm very busy until tomorrow, but will try to translate over the weekend!
  6. 1) GQ Mexico, ph- Guy Aroch. 2) Toni xTom Tailor FW 2019 (campaign shot in NYC in June) 3) Supermodel flea market 2019...she sorted out things in NYC 4) Project with Martin Schoeller (we've seen one shot, don't know if there will be more?) 5) Shoot in Dusseldorf for Schwarzkopf 20 march 2019 (we've only seen one pic I think). 6) "Warning" shot in Warsaw in late March/ early April 7) Something she shot or did in London, April 22 😎 Something she shot or did in Paris, April 23/24 - Could have been CH? Maybe London the day before was also CH, maybe studio in London, outdoor in Paris? 10) "Dreamland" shot in Montreal in April 11) Film she says she will shoot in Berlin in the summer 12) Shoot in Milan, June 17 13) Shoot for Zara in Spain, June 18 14) Shoot in Paris, June 19-20 15) Shoot in London, June 24, probably editorial? 16) Shoot in Stockholm, probably for Elle Italia, Ph. 7. Loving the work for Carolina Herrera, finally a high fashion brand again! ❤️ Happy Birthday, Toni!
  8. Just found this: https://www.hvtonline.de/tracks/bm There will be a horse race that has her name in the title on Sunday in Berlin. I'm not very familiar with horse races, but she's not the only celeb who 'has' a race there, I don't know what it means though - is she sponsoring something? Will she be there? It's also her birthday on Sunday - I can personally confirm birthdays at Berlin horse races are super fun. 😎
  9. @kissnena Absolutely no idea. Mimic Production is "a 3D Animation and Motion Capture studio focusing on high-quality, photo-realistic digital doubles and 3D characters", according to their instagram, and she herself said it was animation day. But I still don't have any clue at all.
  10. It doesn't sound or look like it @kissnena The hair also looks very editorial, I was really surprised before she started posting the throwbacks, because I thought it was H&M and was like: Wow, the hair person did an especially bad job today. I'd guess she's shooting with Andreas Sjodin, which is great, and possibly even for Vogue Paris, which would be even greater, but I don't want to get my hopes up on that. But Sjodin per se is exciting news. Edit: Probably Elle Italia?
  11. Eden Hamburg By Perrier-Jouet event in Hamburg, Germany
  12. @kissnena Any idea what she could have shot today? She tagged Messika, but she also wrote about changing all day long, would you have to do that for a jewelry shoot? Also, do you think it was the only thing she shot in London or do you think there was something else we don't know anything about?
  13. Don't think these were ever posted: Samsøe & Samsøe Winter 2018 / Pre-Spring 2019 Lookbooks
  14. @kissnena I'm not sure, but I would guess it's new from today? My initial thought was that she might be shooting a Resort lookbook, something similar to the lookbook for Alexandre Vauthier she shot in Paris a couple of years ago. It would explain the "soooooon". But I really don't know. What do you think?
  15. 1) GQ Mexico, ph- Guy Aroch. 2) Toni xTom Tailor FW 2019 (campaign shot in NYC in June) 3) Spiderman shot in Prag last year 4) Supermodel flea market 2019...she sorted out things in NYC 5) Project with Martin Schoeller (we've seen one shot, don't know if there will be more?) 6) Shoot in Dusseldorf for Schwarzkopf 20 march 2019 (we've only seen one pic I think). 7) "Warning" shot in Warsaw in late March/ early April 8) Something she shot or did in London, April 22 (said she was on her way to the studio on Insta) 9) Something she shot or did in Paris, April 23/24 10) "Dreamland" shot in Montreal in April 11) Harper's Bazaar Singapore, shot in NYC May 12, Ph. Yu Tsai 12) Clé de Peau, shot in NYC May 14 13) Film she says she will shoot in Berlin in the summer 14) Shoot in Milan, June 17 15) Shoot for Zara in Spain, June 18
  16. Looks like she's shooting for Zara again today.
  17. @kissnena Sorry, I wasn't sure when posting, they all look so similar, but after (re?)watching them, I was quite sure I hadn't seen them before. Hope these are new at least (first two were posted from insta, but not as actual picture files) Zalando Get the Look adds
  18. Zara Summer 2019 Full Set Part 3
  19. Zara Summer 2019 Full Set Part 2
  20. Zara Summer 2019 Full Set Part 1 zara
  21. Very glad she wasn't a part of the GNTM finale, the show was such a cringy mess. 😂😂
  22. Just a wild guess, but tonight is the GNTM finale show live from Cologne, including Tyra Banks, Taylor Swift, and I'm sure many more. I don't know if Heidi has announced all the guests yet (from what I gather she's announcend somebody new every other day or so, but I didn't follow it closely), but I know that some other jurors of the season will be back for the finale, so maybe Toni will be there too? She's in Germany, has been very quiet about what she's doing these last couple days and it's something you wouldn't be able to postpone or plan around the amfAR (whereas with something like the Schwarzkopf shoot two days ago, I'd assume it would be possible to plan in a way that makes sure she can attend amfAR). Just speculating here, but still...
  23. I prefer work over amfar (as long as it's not another 30 seconds role in some random film). And woah at that 2006 picture. It's crazy how young she was and looked when she first started out. Her face has really changed a lot (more than for example Gemma's).
  24. I love the outfit she wore to the Women in Motion awards, but the top bustier part doesn't really fit that well, too tight under her arms. Also, I love the Sergeenko costum couture outfit and found it very interesting to read Amarsana's insta post about how it all came together. I just wish she would stop doing that stupid victory sign on the carpet. We see it in almost every set of pics we get, and it just looks dumb in my opinion and reads "help, I don't know what to do on the red carpet" to me. She tagged Vogue Paris in one of her Cannes posts, which makes me really excited. Maybe they'll do something like a Behind The Scenes feature with her?
