He chipped in with 5 goals and not sure how many assists. Also put in an absolutely classy performance against Real Madrid (so I read). We were having issues with his work permit and a few Spanish clubs expressed their interest of signing him or taking him on loan if that means anything. Also his nickname is Speedy...just like the mouse in looney tunes! YEE HAAA

it's sad that people just accept that it's a part of football culture though. The English are more honest and that's what I like about them. Against Portugal before Rooney's send off, he was being fouled and could easily have gone down to get what he deserved. But he stayed up and took on two defenders to try and get the ball. Sometimes being naive is a good thing

who is Gonzalez? Chilean left winger. We unofficially loaned him to Real Sociedad last season. Also caught with women in his hotel room teh eaerly hours of the morning, all while on national duty. He claimed nothing happened and that he was "only signing autographs" Signing which part of their bodies and with what? Anyway, he's 21 and that little incident led to his retirement from the national team

I like the tactics side of it too, but theres's so many other things to handle which (like you said) sucks. The new managers now like Mourinho and Rafa practically live and breathe football. Rafa has nightmares and wakes up screaming tactics. No joke. :|

Apparently quite old (as you can tell from the heading) but someone just found it and I just read it. FM FANATIC APPLIES FOR BORO JOB Wouldn't it be good if all that gaming experience could get you a proper job? You know, a proper one, not just writing about World of Warcraft patches and Chopin's Trusty Bell all day. Well, that seems to be the thinking of a chap called John Boileau, who's spent hours playing Championship Manager and Football Manager - and reckons that qualifies him to be a real life football manager. Boileau, whose fictional management experience includes stints at Liverpool, Real Madrid and Doncaster, wrote to Middlesborough FC to apply for the manager's job. In his covering letter, Boileau notes that "The tactical side of football has always been very important to me, which is demonstrated through my success on the game Football Manager 2005." Apparently he took Nuneaton to new heights of success and won the Swedish League with Kalmar FF - but got sacked from Chievo Verona. Boileau has a degree in geography and archaeology, and observes: "I hear Mark Viduka has a significant and considerable interest in 12th century pottery which would be an excellent starting point." He also has plenty of practical experience of real football management, having guided the St Paul's Under-11s squad through Nuneaton's 1999 Summer Playscheme Cup. The team won, with each player receiving a

AHA! un-amillionotherthings! That's the one and tinkering can be ok...if you don't have a gameplan. Ask Ranieri , he'll tell you his tinkering did Chelsea a world of good. Maybe ask Sven in England's friendlies, where they underperformed a lot.

Let me recap the story for France. Their stars retired. They sucked. Their stars un-retired. They barely qualified. Ubiquitous tinkering of formation. Crappy performances in openers. Stumble onto winning formula. Defence becomes awesome. Zidane returns to greatness. Self belief discovered. So the logical conclusion would be: A) Zidane is still a god. B) Domenech is an idiot. C) Henry has a tendency to dive, although he mocked Barca's players for diving so much and congratulated Eboue for his dive in the CL final <_<

Gattuso is a bull when he's defending. He's a pansy when he gets a little tap on his legs while he's on the ball. Del Piero has boots without studs. I'm not impressed at all. I don't see Perotta whinging though. Then again, I don't see him much at all <_< Seriously, what's with soccer players and being little fairies? My friend complains as well about the slightest knocks as if they were life threatening. He also makes fancy shots that never go in and always tries to do something insanely difficult. I think he's contracted Arsenal-itis Anyway, back on topic Why do the players react to small things so much. They get up straight away after they reach the sidelines as well. If worst comes to worst they get some "magic spray" that let's them run around again. These guys are built :| It's funny none of this stuff happens when they start fighting [/rant]

same here. it was only until extra time that italy came out of their little shell. but italians really have to stop diving so much. they roll around on the ground almost as much as the ball itself. they also clutch the wrong parts of their bodies. seriously, you'd think they'd be MORE realistic after so much practice
