All winners took care of their opposition easily. Perhaps today’s only surprise was the relatively low vote percentage for Daniela Pestova, who is an SI legend and ranked #6 in my ranking system. Group 1 Elle Macpherson (93.1%) defeated Vicky Howard (6.9%) Jessica Gomes (82.4%) defeated Carla Campbell (17.6%) Group 2 Kathy Ireland (79.3%) defeated Barbara Minty (20.7%) Samantha Hoopes (62.1%) defeated Valeria Mazza (37.9%) Group 3 Marisa Miller (96.9%) defeated Kathy Loghry (3.1%) Stephanie Seymour (60.7%) defeated Lily Aldridge (39.3%) My spin: Going in, there were really only two matches that I figured would be close (Hoopes/Mazza and Seymour/Aldridge). But, in each of them, we had ourselves a rather convincing winner, which makes their wins quite impressive considering their competition. I thought it was interesting to see the first two 2014 rookies in the tournament, and the fact that Lily Aldridge, one of the cover girls, lost her first match while fellow rookie Samantha Hoopes won hers. One can argue that Lily’s competition was stiffer, so I wonder how Samantha and Lily would fare if matched up directly. Alas, they’re in different groups this year, so that is unlikely to happen. They did a great job with not butchering photos with fake Photoshopping on the website and continue with Swim Daily, so I'm hopeful.

I'm happy to report that I'm doing better and anticipate that I will restart the competition (from the beginning, with an improved format) sometime in early September. Should I keep the same thread, and maybe just edit the previous posts - especially the first one?

I think the way the wind is blowing her hair all into her face in the pic and how dated it looks and other things like the bad pose probably doesn't help. She might have done a little bit better, but maybe not much, with a different pic. Yes, you're definitely correct there. The problem is that Lena has nearly all terrible poses and photos for SI, and the one I used in her match against Annie Morton was one was one of her best. SI's photographers did her no justice back then. So, maybe I shouldn't have been so surprised by the result, after all.

The second surprise was more dramatic, as the #220 ranked model, Annie Morton, pummeled #71 Lena Kansbod. I thought Lena might struggle here, but she did more than struggle.
