well, clearly they're not going to be anonymous anymore if they're posting pics of the casting. before, SI swim never had a daily obligation to provide website content. i expect we'll see somewhere around 20-40 casting calls for maybe, what, 6 rookie spots in the issue?

why would you make that assumption? if there were other (better) girls, why wouldn't they be on the website? if anything, the fugs would be the ones not to have posts...

someone send up the emily ratajkowski bat signal. SI needs to recruit some curves.

are they just pulling girls from the street or what? i mean, throw a rock in manhattan and you'll probably hit a model, but that's no way to cast a swimsuit issue.

yeah, i agree that she's a long shot while MJ is in charge. in the jule campbell era, though, a body like edita's would be a shoo-in. she reminds me of eza herzigova.

i expect both kates will be back next year. seems like a safe bet. as misslima says, all ROTY models return at least once more. and lately it's been rare for the previous year's cover model not to return. marisa miller is the only one i can think of in the last decade to not return in her post-cover year. though i do see what you're saying: it will be hard for kate to top the hype associated with antarctica this year. perhaps she'll do a special feature shoot, like bar and heidi have done in years after their covers. i could see that happening.

who else would you like to see in the 2014 issue? my list would include xenia deli and some other SISA veterans: nicole meyer, chiara moreira, rosette mogomotsi, and lera koryts'ka. otherwise lisalla montenegro would've been great, if perhaps a bit similar to natasha barnard. SI has been sorely lacking any diversity lately. i wouldn't mind seeing lais ribeiro, gracie carvalho, and shanina shaik appear in the issue. [edit: i meant to include mayra suarez here, too] finally, nicole williams, maryna linchuk and magdalena frackowiak have had some interesting shoots lately and at least seem to be better caliber than the casting calls SI has had so far.

holy moly, nina in that mesh shirt. the SI versions look so bland and washed out by comparison, like VHS covers that have been in the window of blockbuster's for a decade. macari's versions look vibrant, sexy. i recall a similar reaction when different versions of some of brooklyn decker's pictures showed up on walter iooss' website anyway, it's unlikely they'll rethink anything. they've been in a rut for years now.

so was the vote legit? seems plausible that it was, despite the weird theories from some posters who shall remain nameless...

kate's not that bad. i think her hair was styled a bit off and sometimes they put her in swimsuits that made her chest look like two lemons on an ironing board. occasionally she overcame those things and produced a few good pictures. of the rookies, i'd rank her third, ahead of hannah. (hannah = nice eyes, not much else) so kate will definitely be in next year's issue. here's hoping she has better styling next year. hannah davis will be back. she was on the inset this year, she's dating jeter, and she's in popular commercials. the other two are in doubt, i guess. it's a shame--natasha and emily had the strongest shots but will be the least likely to return here's hoping MJ can find a way to 'retire' some of the models who have been in the issue 5+ times and allow more than just 2 rookies to return.
