Best attacking trio in Europe Between them, Real Madrid strikers Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain tallied 65 goals in La Liga last season, making them the most effective attacking trio in European football. Jose Mourinho's team scored 102 goals in 38 league games. Real Madrid had reached the 100-strike mark only four times before, and became the top scoring side in the 2010/11 edition of the championship. As mentioned above, Ronaldo, Benzema and Higuain tallied 65 of those 102 goals, making them the team's top scorers, followed by Kaka (7), Ozil (6) and Di Maria (6). They also make up the best attacking trio in Europe, followed by Barcelona (61 goals), Bayern Munich (52), Lille (47) and Manchester United (44). Cristiano scored a record 40 strikes in the championship last year, while the team earned impressive victories over such sides as Valencia (2-6), Sevilla (3-6), Malaga (7-0) and Almeria (8-1).
  6. This weekend, the English newspaper "Sunday Mirror" published an interview with Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Ronaldo himself publicly announced on his Twitter and Facebook personal pages that the interview was entirely false. Cristiano Ronaldo released a statement on his personal Facebook and Twitter pages, denying having granted the interview that the British media "Sunday Mirror" published this weekend, written by Jim Hughes. CR7 is still on vacations with his son and his girlfriend Irina Shayk and affirmed that he never met with the reffered journalist or anyone else from the Sunday Mirror staff in the last days. Cristiano Ronaldo posted the following statement on his Twitter and Facebook personal accounts: "The Sunday Mirror publishes an interview with me today. All that content is false. I have never spoke with the newspaper, and never made those statements." In the reffered false and fake interview, Cristiano Ronaldo was quoted saying that he doesn't like London and he would only play in a North West English club, which would be the same as saying he would only consider a move to either Manchester City or Manchesster United. Sunday Mirror false story also contained statements from Cristiano Ronaldo regarding the Manchester City approach in order to attempt transfering CR7 to the Citizens. On this matter, Ronaldo would have allegedly said that if José Mourinho had left to Chelsea in the end of this season, then he would have left Real Madrid and joined Manchester City, because he was flattered to receive an offer around 20 million pounds a year. Once again, those statements were false and Real Madrid fans can relax because Cristiano Ronaldo will keep wearing the number 7 shirt in the next seasons.

  16. Neymar: "I admire both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi" Brazil's most promising star, Neymar, said recently that he admires Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and he hopes that he can reach their level in the future. However, in Neymar's opinion, Messi is the World's best player and is better than Ronaldo at the moment. Brazilian wonderboy, Neymar, who just helped his team Santos winning the "Libertadores" last night, affirmed that he respects a lot both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The Portuguese and the Argentinian are the World's maximum references these days, when it comes to make an assessment for any new player's potential. Neymar: "I like both Ronaldo and Messi. But in my opinion, Lionel Messi is the best player in the World right now and I have no doubts on that. But in the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo is also great, big and a very complete player." said the Brazilian prodigy to Spanish newspaper "As". Neymar has been strongly linked with a transfer to Real Madrid in the last days and weeks. The possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo playing side by side with Neymar is very likely to happen, but for now, Neymar assumes he has no rush in making the move to Europe, despite several news about clubs being interested in signing him. Neymar: "I'm happy in Santos here in my country and I think I'm playing good football. It's probably not the right moment to move to Europe yet."
  17. Dorival Júnior: "Neymar is better than Cristiano Ronaldo" The Brazilian coach Dorival Júnior affirmed that Neymar has the potential to become better than Cristiano Ronaldo. The former Santos coach and the current manager of Atlético Mineiro knows Neymar very well and has no doubts about his overall quality. This summer transfer season promises to be exciting for Real Madrid. Among names such as Alexis Sanchez or Kun Aguero, who have been mentioned on the press as potential transfers for the "Merengues", Neymar is certainly one of the few who can be regarded as a "Galáctico" transfer. A potential partnership between Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo is seen by many as something unpredictable, but one thing is for sure, the Santiago Bernabéu wouldn't complain about the lack of quality and talented players. Dorival Júnior has coached Neymar in the past and he's confident that the Brazilian prodigy is prepared to join Real Madrid. Dorival Jr.: "In my opinion, Neymar is only worst than Messi. I think he is better than Cristiano Ronaldo in many aspects of the game. He's a lot more pragmatic than Ronaldo, more decisive, more genius. In a few years, I'm confident he'll also reach Lionel Messi's level." said the Brazilian coach to the website Lancenet. Dorival Júnior: "Neymar is a great kid and has an incredible charisma. If he focus himself on his career, he'll grow very fast because he has such an immense potential." Dorival also praised one of Neymar's teammates, Paulo Henrique Ganso, the other rising star from Santos. "Ganso is a great professional, just like Neymar is an exceptional player. Neymar is a genius and Ganso is more of a maestro in the midfield. They both complement each other very well on the field." Petkovic, the former International from Serbia, who played for Real Madrid, Sevilla and Racing Santander, also agrees that Neymar is better than Cristiano Ronaldo. "Neymar is superior than Cristiano Ronaldo. CR7 has a lot of strenght and plays well with his head, but with all the respect, he doesn't have the technique level of Neymar. In the next years, Neymar will fight with the best to become the World best player, just like Messi does." Petkovic: "Neymar isn't a "Pichichi" kind of player, like Cristiano Ronaldo is, but he is a great forward. He's really good and besides scoring many goals he also helps the attacking plays becoming more dangerous. He has a lot of easiness in finishing his teammates plays. This is the right moment for Neymar to take this step and go play to big European club. He has to leave Santos now and take his chances in Europe. If Real Madrid doesn't sign Neymar, than Barcelona or Manchester United will."
  18. Pelé: "Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the best in the World for now" Pelé joined the debate and spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but also left a warning note regarding Neymar's potential. The "King" said that Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are the best in the World right now, but the Argentinian is still one level above the rest. It seems like it's turning out to be the eternal question of the modern football era. In a topic almost impossible to find a consensus, Pelé shared his thoughts on the matter and said that Lionel Messi is the best player in the World right now, overcoming Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazil's rising star Neymar. Pelé: "Messi better than Pelé? Messi is the best in the World for now, but he still needs to score at least 1283 goals more, in order to be seen as the best football player ever. There's also Cristiano Ronaldo, who has a lot of strenght and scores plenty of goals every season. He still has a lot of potential. Pelé believes that the World Best Player "fight" is exclusive to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but only because Neymar is still very young. "Please don't tell me that Neymar has to be the best in the World at the age of 19, because that's just too much responsability for such a young kid. He has time to develop and become the best player in the World in future. I'm pretty sure he'll get there someday, but for now, the best players in the World are Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. I also hope that Neymar can give his full contribute to the Brazil National Team and doesn't do the same that Messi does with his weak performances for Argentina." Pelé also said that Neymar best choice for the short-term should be accepting the challenge to play in Real Madrid, under the command of José Mourinho. "I advised Neymar to transfer to Real Madrid, but Santos President doesn't want to sell him until the 2014 World Cup." However, Maradona doesn't seem to agree with the Brazilian legend and spoke recently to the Spanish television "TVE", reffering to Neymar as a rude boy who shows no respect for anyone. "Neymar is not polite at all, a bit like Pelé. Messi in the other hand, is an exceptional player and I doubt Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar or anyone else in the World can be better than him."
