Kaká: Ronaldo Is Second Only To Pelé In Brazil AC Milan midfielder Kaká believes that his club team-mate Ronaldo is second only to Pelé in the list of great Brazilian footballers. Speaking to FIFA.com, Kaká did not shy away from expressing his appreciation for his team-mate and friend. "Ronaldo is number one. In the history of the Brazilian soccer, he is only behind Pelé," he stated. The midfielder was speaking after missing out on Brazil's narrow 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday and reiterated his desire to be part of the U-23 team that will go to the Olympics in Beijing later this year. "I want to go the Olympics because Brazil has won almost everything, but have still not been able to win Olympic Gold in football. I never got the chance to play in them when I was the right age and therefore I hope to be included as one of the three players over twenty-three in the summer." Kaká was asked about the tough regime that new England coach Fabio Capello seems keen to enforce, but did not feel that such an approach is always effective. "In the World Cup in 2002, after each game we had one day of rest and before the departures we could tan a little in the sun. We could also use mobile phones and we were successful. We were clearly always very professional. "In 2006, a different regime was adopted and we were only allowed out at certain times with more restrictions and the results were not positive." Finally, Kaká was asked what being world club champions meant to AC Milan and the players. "We are the world-wide champion of clubs and until December nobody can take that away from us. "It would be wonderful to win another Champions League title so we can defend the trophy," he concluded.- Kaká

AC Milan forward Pato out two weeks MILAN, Italy (AP) -- AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato will likely return from a sprained ankle in time for a Champions League match against Arsenal on Feb. 20. The 18-year-old Brazilian, who has scored four goals in his first six Serie A matches, sprained his ankle in Sunday's game soon after he had come off the bench to score the winning goal. "Pato is doing much better today,'' Milan medical coordinator Jean Pierre Meersseman said Wednesday on the team's television channel. "Up to yesterday he was walking on crutches, but now he can walk without pain,'' Meersseman said. "Until yesterday we thought that he would need two to three weeks to recuperate, but now I think that it will take less than two weeks and he'll be available for the game against Arsenal.'' Brazil forward Kaka will miss Milan's league game against Siena due to a lingering knee injury, but will be available for the Arsenal game, Meersseman said. Ronaldo, the third piece of Milan's Brazilian attack, will play Sunday after sitting out last week's match with a muscle injury.- Alberto Gilardino
Italian Press: Roma And Fiorentina Want Gilardino Italian tabloid Leggo claims that Roma and Fiorentina are hot on the trail of AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino... The AC Milan hierarchy have frequently stated that Alberto Gilardino will not be sold anytime soon, with these claims holding extra resonance after the striker's recent return to form. However, this has not stopped Italian tabloid Leggo from reporting the apparent interest of Roma and Fiorentina in the 25-year-old. The Rossoneri paid around €24m (£18m) for the ex-Parma man in 2005, and while he finished last season as Milan's top league scorer, many feel that he has not uqite been worth that level of investment. Fiorentina's interest in the forward - with a view to replacing the veteran Christian 'Bobo' Vieri - is well-known, but the idea of a concrete bid is relatively recent. As for Roma, their 3-0 loss to Siena at the weekend has apparently coaxed directors into taking a serious look at strengthening the squad ahead of next season, particularly if co-owned forward Mirko Vucinic moves on. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar of Ajax is another mooted target for the Giallorossi.- Fabio Cannavaro
