Vera Ann Farmiga (born August 6, 1973) is an American actress and film director. Farmiga made her feature film debut in the 1998 drama-thriller Return to Paradise. This was followed by the supporting role of Lisa Tyler in the 2000 romantic drama film Autumn in New York, and Alex Cross in the 2001 television series UC: Undercover. In 2001, she was also cast as Daphne Handlova in the crime-thriller 15 Minutes. In 2004, she received critical praise for her portrayal of Irene, a woman trying to balance marriage and motherhood while harboring a secret drug habit, in the independent film Down to the Bone. Her other film credits include the 2003 comedy Dummy, the 2004 drama Iron Jawed Angels, the 2006 crime-thriller The Departed, the 2007 horror Joshua, and the 2008 drama-thriller Nothing But the Truth. Since 2013, Farmiga has been starring as Norma Louise Bates in the A&E drama television series Bates Motel. For her performance in the role, she won the 2013 Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television, and was nominated for the 2013 and 2014 Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series, the 2014 Satellite Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama, the 2013 TCA Award for Individual Achievement in Drama, and the 2013 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Taissa Farmiga born August 17, 1994) is an American actress. Farmiga was born and raised in the Whitehouse Station section of Readington Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey She is the youngest of seven children born to Ukrainian immigrants Luba (née Spas; born 1949), a former schoolteacher, and Michael Farmiga (born 1942) Farmiga's father was born in Ukraine and raised in Argentina. He was scouted to play professional soccer for the Argentinian national football team, but after suffering knee problems, he moved to the United States Farmiga initially had no ambitions to become an actress. In June 2010, she was persuaded to appear in her sister Vera Farmiga's directorial debut Higher Ground . She made her acting debut as Corinne Walker in the 2011 drama film Higher Ground. In June 2012, Farmiga signed on to star as Audrey Martin, an uptight 18-year-old touring a college campus, in the independent romantic comedy At Middleton, also starring her sister. On May 17, 2013, the film premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival Later that year, she came to prominence playing Violet Harmon in American Horror Story: Murder House, the first season of FX's anthology series. She then starred as Sam Moore in the satirical crime film The Bling Ring (2013), Zoe Benson in American Horror Story: Coven (2013–14), Anna Greene in the psychological thriller Mindscape (2013), Melanie Clark in the relationship drama 6 Years (2015), and Max in the horror comedy The Final Girls (2015).
