One of my favourite bands Muse are an English rock band formed in Teignmouth, Devon in 1994 under the alias of Rocket Baby Dolls. Afterwards, they changed their name to Muse, decided to forgo university and undertook a career in music.[1] The band comprises Matthew Bellamy (vocals, guitar, piano and keyboards), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass guitar) and Dominic Howard (drums and percussion). Muse blend alternative, hard rock, progressive rock, classical music and electronica to help form the new sub-genre of new prog. Muse are known best for their energetic and visually dazzling live performances, and front man Matthew Bellamy's eccentric interests in global conspiracy, extraterrestrial life, paranoia, theology and the apocalypse.[2] Muse have released four studio albums with their first Showbiz coming in 1999. The most recent, Black Holes & Revelations (2006), was also the most critically acclaimed, garnering the band a Mercury Prize nomination and a third place finish in the NME Albums of the Year list for 2006. One of my favourite bands Hard-Fi are an English band formed in Staines, Surrey in 2003. Staines is a suburban location 16 miles (26 km) southwest of Central London that has significantly influenced their musical style and lyrics. The band's continual members have been Richard Archer (vocals), Kai Stephens (bass guitar), Ross Phillips (guitar) and Steve Kemp (drums). They achieved chart success with their third single, "Hard to Beat"[1] and then followed by other successful singles such as "Cash Machine"[2] and "Living for the Weekend",[3] which all reached top 15 in the UK Singles Chart.[4] Their debut album Stars of CCTV was released on 4 July 2005,[5] and although receiving critical acclaim (NME called it album of the year and was nominated for the Mercury Prize and two BRIT Awards, Best British Group and Best British Rock Act[6]), it didn't reach #1 in the UK albums chart until six months later on 22 January 2006.[7] It originally peaked at number 6.[8] The band's second album, Once Upon a Time in the West, was released on 3 September 2007[9] and reached number 1 in its first week. One of my favourite bands Eskimo Joe is an Australian rock band whose debut album Girl went gold in 2001. Their second album A Song Is a City was released in Australia 2004 and went double platinum. The first single from the album, "From the Sea" debuted in the top 40 of the ARIA Singles Chart, as well as reaching the top of the Triple J Net 50 and was voted number 3 in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2004. The band released their third album Black Fingernails, Red Wine in 2006 and the album has gone quadruple platinum. The first single release, sharing the title with the album, "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" has commercially exceeded the results of their previous work, becoming their first top 10 single, and taking out number two in Triple J's Hottest 100 2006.
