what team he plays for??- Sami Khedira
Khedira eyes goals and silverware Real Madrid new boy Sami Khedira is backing himself to find the goals that will fire his side to success this season. Khedira, who signed for the Spanish giants from VfB Stuttgart following this summer's FIFA World Cup, has yet to score since his move to the Bernabeu, but feels that his lean streak is set to come to an end sooner rather than later. "I am sure I will score soon," the 23-year-old told Real's official website. "I have had chances to score but was unlucky. I come closer to netting a strike each day. I've analysed my team-mates on the pitch, which (I hope) will help me score." Khedira is hoping that his barren spell will become a thing of the past on Saturday evening when Real travel to Alicante for a match against Hercules. With Jose Mourinho's men currently topping the La Liga standings, many observers are saying that they are the team to beat this season. Whilst admitting that Los Blancos have a decent chance of capturing some silveware this campaign, Khedira is purely focused on taking one game at a time. "We have a good chance to win titles this season," the midfielder said. "If we play well as a team we will have chances to win in Alicante. "We know our match against Hercules will be difficult. We faced them in the pre-season. They are dangerous and strong in attack. "They have [Nelson] Valdez, whom I knew in the Bundesliga, and [David] Trezeguet, who always finds room in which to score." Real's nearest title rivals are currently Villarreal and Barcelona. The chasing duo tackle Sevilla and Sporting Gijon respectively this weekend.- Marcelo

Marcelo: Benzema will come good Real Madrid defender Marcelo has thrown his support behind under-fire team-mate Karim Benzema. In contrast to the burgeoning feel-good factor at Madrid this season, with the Spanish giants still unbeaten under new coach Jose Mourinho and flying high at the top of La Liga and their Champions League group, Benzema is not having an easy time of it. The 22-year-old has struggled to impress since his big-money move from Lyon in the summer of 2009, and so far this season he has struck just one goal. The France international was given a rare starting opportunity in Tuesday's Copa del Rey tie at third tier Real Murcia but was unable to make a breakthrough before being replaced in the 62nd minute of the goalless draw. Benzema has found himself under the media spotlight, but Brazilian full-back Marcelo was quick to defend the forward, saying: "He has great quality, we all know that, and I think that because of this people are putting him under pressure where there isn`t any. "We can all go through good and bad runs of forms. I`ve no doubt that he`s going to help us a lot this season and that he`s going to give everything in every game he plays."- Cristiano Ronaldo

Mourinho won't take cup lightly Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho said he intends to win the Copa del Rey ahead of Tuesday's opening cup tie at Murcia. During Monday's post-training press conference, Mourinho confirmed he plans to field several first team players including Cristiano Ronaldo for the clash with Murcia. "If players don't have the talent to play a Cup match against a good team like Murcia, then they don't have the talent to play for Real Madrid," he was quoted as saying on the club's official website. "If a player tomorrow doesn't show just how good he is and has a bad match, he can't honestly think he will be called up for the next one. It is impossible. "Murcia haven't lost a game and they lead their competition and tomorrow play at home. Some people don't really appreciate the Copa del Rey, but I do. I won it in Portugal, in England and in Italy. Now I want to win it in Spain." Injured full back Sergio Ramos is one of 18 players named by Mourinho to travel to Murcia. Ramos failed to recover from an ankle injury in time to face Racing Santander at the weekend. Under Mourinho, Real have been in impressive form of late - including scoring 16 goals in the last three games. Ronaldo has already netted 13 times this season to bring his record to 44 goals in 46 games for the club.- Jose Mourinho
Mourinho seeks to tie down Pepe Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is hopeful that defender Pepe will commit his future to the club in the next few weeks. The Portuguese boss sees the former Porto stalwart as a key member of his squad. The 27-year-old has also expressed his desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu despite difficult negotiations surrounding his contract. Pepe's current deal expires in 2012 and Madrid are willing to offer him a three-year extension. However, the player has demanded a wage increase as he is currently one of the lowest earners on Madrid's list. The centre-back has reportedly demanded £85,000 a week while Madrid are only prepared to pay up to £60,000. Both Chelsea and Barcelona have expressed an interest in the Portugal international, however, Mourinho is anxious to secure the future of his fellow countryman as soon as possible. He said: "Real Madrid are trying not to lose, and Pepe cannot be lost by Real Madrid. "The club know. In a few weeks I will fix everything and Pepe will stay here.- Sara Carbonero

Eintracht Frankfurt 0-0 Schalke Schalke kept their first Bundesliga clean sheet of the season but remained in the bottom four after a 0-0 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt. The Royal Blues have now managed only one win in their first nine league matches, but picked up their sixth point of the campaign to move up to 15th place. The result brought to an end a three-game winning run for Frankfurt, who climbed to ninth thanks to their point.Buoyed by their midweek Champions League win over Hapoel Tel Aviv, Schalke mustered the first chance in the 18th minute. A fine passing move led to an opportunity for Raul, but the Spaniard could not get his shot past Oka Nikolov.Frankfurt nearly took the lead seven minutes later but Halil Altintop could only find the side-netting from the left. Home defender Marco Russ went close after 28 minutes but his header flew just wide.Russ again almost broke the deadlock two minutes after the break, heading just inches wide left after Benjamin Kohler's free-kick from the right.Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made a superb save after 66 minutes, stopping Alexander Meier's low blast which had looked destined for the bottom corner.Frankfurt had a golden chance two minutes later but Altintop struck over the bar from four yards.Schalke appeared satisfied with an away point and defended with all their might against a motivated Frankfurt side. The ball was in the net for the hosts with 14 minutes to play but Theofanis Gekas was ruled offside.Neuer kept out another Gekas effort in the 81st minute and Kohler's left-footed attempt sailed over the bar in the 90th minute, but Schalke held on.- Caroline Celico

Ronaldo shares glory with team-mates Cristiano Ronaldo shared the plaudits with his team-mates following his four goals in the 6-1 mauling of Racing Santander. Ronaldo struck after 15, 27, 47 and 55 minutes - the final goal from the penalty spot - to make it nine in the last four Primera Division and Champions League matches for the in-form Portugal international. The world's most expensive player, who has a strike rate of almost one goal a game since joining Madrid from Manchester United in the summer of 2009, spoke of his delight following the match but was also keen to praise his companions as well. "I don't think I've ever scored four goals in a game before, I'm very happy with that," he said. "I try to do the best job I can, but my team-mates have given me the ball to score from. We also need to congratulate them. Playing for Madrid I'm provided with many good chances, like today. We need to congratulate them more than me. The goals were simple. They gave me the ball. I'm very happy." Ronaldo's quartet of strikes were sandwiched by efforts from Gonzalo Higuain (10 minutes) and Mesut Ozil (63) as Madrid took their tally to 16 goals in the last three league games - having earlier in the season been criticised for a lack of goals. The victory ensures Madrid, who have now won nine of their 11 competitive games under Jose Mourinho and drawn the other two, remain top of La Liga. Ronaldo warned it is still early days though, saying in AS: "We need to continue fighting, there is still a lot of the season left and we need to continue improving." Ronaldo also insisted his side need to focus on themselves rather than on arch-rivals Barcelona, who have yet to hit top form this season but nevertheless are just a point behind the capital club. "There's no need to think of the others, we need to think of us. To continue as we have been doing, playing well and scoring a lot of goals. We don't have to be concerned with Barcelona," Ronaldo added.- Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez & José María Manzanares Jr
OMG he cut his hair or is this someone else??- Wayne Mark Rooney
Fergie: Rooney said sorry to us Sir Alex Ferguson revealed Wayne Rooney has apologised after signing a five-year contract with Manchester United. The announcement was made by the Old Trafford club this lunchtime, ending one of the most amazing weeks in their history, which started with hints at unrest and included Rooney's own concerns about the direction United were heading in. "Wayne has apologised to me and the players," Ferguson told Key103. "He will also do so with the supporters." The statement came at the end of a staggering 24-hour period, which involved meetings between Ferguson, chief executive David Gill, Rooney and his trusted advisor Paul Stretford, plus the Glazer family. Irate supporters gathered at Rooney's house in Prestbury last night to express their concern, only to discover the 24-year-old is now set to stay at Old Trafford. "Sometimes, when you're in a club, it can be hard to realise just how big it is and it takes something like the events of the last few days to make you understand," said Sir Ferguson. "I think Wayne now understands what a great club Manchester United is." It barely seemed credible such a position could be arrived at so quickly. But the conciliatory nature of a holding statement from United last night suggested rapprochement was in the offing. And, after consultation with the owners, who allayed his fears about the future direction of United, Rooney agreed to extend his contract, which will now expire in 2015. "It's been a difficult week, but the intensity of the coverage is what we expect at Manchester United," said Ferguson. "I said to the boy that the door is always open and I am delighted Wayne has agreed to stay. "I am pleased he has accepted the challenge to guide the younger players and establish himself as one of United's great players. "It shows character and belief in what we stand for. "I am sure everyone involved with the club will now get behind Wayne and show him the support he needs to produce the performances we know he is capable of." Rooney recognises damage has been done, possibly inside the dressing room and certainly with the fans who have regarded him as one of their own since he first arrived from Everton in 2004. He also understands the need to improve his form, which has suffered so badly since he sustained an ankle injury against Bayern Munich in March, the last time he scored a goal for his club in open play. "I am delighted to sign another deal at United," he said. "In the last couple of days, I have talked to the manager and the owners and they have convinced me this is where I belong. "I said on Wednesday the manager is a genius and it is his belief and support that have convinced me to stay. "I am signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history - which is the reason I joined the club in the first place. "I am sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what they have read and seen. "But my position was from concern over the future. "The fans have been brilliant with me since I arrived and it's up to me through my performances to win them over again."- Wayne Mark Rooney
Rooney: I wanted to stay at United Wayne Rooney has revealed he was determined to snatch the olive branch held out by Sir Alex Ferguson. The Old Trafford outfit confirmed that Rooney has agreed a new five-year contract with United, which will keep him at the club until 2015. It was a declaration that scarcely could have been imagined earlier this week, when the split between Rooney and Ferguson appeared beyond repair. Yet, both in a passionate pre-match press conference and during a long defence of his own recruitment policy immediately after Wednesday night's Champions League victory over Bursaspor, Ferguson insisted he wanted Rooney to stay. And the 24-year-old immediately asked trusted adviser Paul Stretford to set up meetings which concluded in today's announcement after a whirlwind 24 hours. "Since it became public knowledge we had to move quicker than everybody expected," Rooney told MUTV. "Once it all came out, it looked as though there was nowhere to go. "But the manager made it quite clear the door was still open for me to sign. The club still wanted me to sign. "I spoke to my agent and said 'let's go in and sit down and try to resolve it to get the deal done'. "We went in, spoke with the manager, the Glazers and David Gill. I am really pleased we managed to sort it out." In referring to Ferguson as "a genius" in his own damning statement about the club's recruitment policy on Wednesday evening, Rooney quashed speculation the pair had fallen out over the United boss' handling of his star striker's well documented private problems. Rooney insists Ferguson was not the sole reason for his decision to stay. But he admits the Scot is a powerful influence on his career. "I am sure it has been difficult for him as well," acknowledged Rooney. "He has to look after the club and was trying to convince me to sign a new deal at the club. "He is a great manager. I have said many times one of the big reasons I joined this club was to work under him, with his experience, passion and will to win. "I wanted to be successful working with him. "I have managed to do that. I am hoping in the next few years we can do that again."- Wayne Mark Rooney
Rooney stays at Manchester United! Wayne Rooney has agreed a new five-year contract with Manchester United, ending speculation about his future. The club confirmed the news on Friday lunchtime, ending an amazing week in which Rooney claimed the Old Trafford outfit no longer matched his ambitions. Yet after a staggering 24-hour period, and demonstration by irate supporters at Rooney's house in Prestbury, Rooney is now set to stay at Old Trafford. Real Madrid vs Racing Santander Preview Real Madrid will welcome Racing Santander to the Santiago Bernebeu after winning 26 of their last 29 home games. Jose Mourinho, fresh from leading Inter Milan to an unprecedented treble of Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia titles last season, took over Madrid this summer and is unbeaten in his first 10 matches, winning eight. Even the early-season criticism about a lack of goals seems now to be a thing of the past, with Madrid scoring 10 in their last two league matches against Deportivo La Coruna and Malaga. That 4-1 win over Malaga also lifted Madrid to the top of the Primera Division standings, and they boast both the best attack (16 goals scored) and best defence (three conceded) in the league. Madrid are well clear in their Champions League group as well after beating AC Milan 2-0 on Tuesday to make it three wins out of three in Europe. It could hardly be better for the Whites as they chase their first silverware since 2008, and the decision to bring in the hugely successful Mourinho looks to be paying dividends. Cristiano Ronaldo is a confirmed fan of his fellow Portuguese, saying in AS: "Mourinho is fantastic. Thank God he came. It`s always great to work with someone with so much experience and who has won so many titles throughout his career. I always said I would love to be coached by him, and my team-mates are just as happy. "Things are going very well for us right now. It`s normal people get upset when things aren't working, but we`re very pleased with the way we`re performing. We`re scoring goals and winning matches." Aside from Madrid`s impressive current form at the Bernabeu, Mourinho also boasts an incredible personal record of not having lost a home league match in eight years at Porto, Chelsea, Inter and now Madrid. On top of that, Madrid have won 32 times in 42 meetings with Racing in the capital, while the Cantabrian side are currently 16th in the standings with just two wins and seven points from their opening seven games, so everything points to a home win this weekend. Racing coach Miguel Angel Portugal, who was Madrid`s technical director before returning to his former position at El Sardinero last November, admits the nine-time European champions look in formidable shape. Asked what has changed under Mourinho, Portugal said: "Everything they do is with a tremendous security. First, from the goalkeeper and the defence, and then it spreads to the rest of the team. Everything Madrid do now is with belief and trust. "It`s very difficult to stop them, but just as complicated, or even more so, is to cause them damage." Nevertheless, Portugal still hopes his players can make life tough for his old side - although he has warned of the dangers of conceding an early goal against Ronaldo and Co. "A team like Racing cannot play nice football at the Bernabeu, if you do you`re dead. That doesn`t mean that when we have the ball we don`t need to do certain things and keep it so we`re not always defending," he said. "The intensity that we put into our play is going to be crucial to counteract their great quality." He added in AS: "We need to make sure they don`t score early on because if they do they will play very comfortably for the rest of the game and they will kill you."- Jose Mourinho
Cryuff is a loser in my opinion,Mou is the ultimate genius! he can turn around any situation, and besides Mou is way better in speakind and his sentences are quotations.Always.- Jose Mourinho
Benzema: I'll prove myself to Mourinho Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is out to prove his worth at the club and has defended his relationship with Jose Mourinho. The Frenchman has struggled to hit the heights for the Spanish giants since his arrival at the Bernabeu from Lyon in 2009. This season hasn't been any better, with the 22-year-old, starting just six times and scoring once since the appointment of Mourinho as manager. However, Benzema is refusing to give up on making his mark at the Bernabeu and remains determined to reproduce the fine form that led to his Madrid move. "I am working hard to earn more playing time. Once I play people will see what I am capable of. I am sure I will succeed with Real Madrid. I don't have a single doubt." he told Punto Pelota. "I have the mindset to play here. If I have to defend and run, I will. That is fine. "I will work harder to play more and to prove to everyone that I am a good forward that can score a lot of goals and play pretty football. Linked with his struggles on the pitch this season have been claims of his poor relationship with Mourinho. But the Madrid No.9 has revealed otherwise, insisting that the Special One is among the best coaches he has played for. "Mourinho is a great coach and he has faith in me. He has told me that I need to run more. All the talking I do is on the pitch. "What I like most about him is that he is daring. He is one of the best coaches I have had. "All I ever dreamed about since I was 17 was playing for Real Madrid, so my signing day was very special. "I feel much more integrated now. My Spanish is better and I understand almost everything. I love Madrid, but my favorite spot is the Santiago Bernabeu." Benzema could be handed an opportunity to prove his point when Madrid take on Racing Santander at the Bernabeu on Saturday. - Alvaro Arbeloa
