Thanks Prejan - well-known pics Would the French President Nicolas Sarkozy have married Sastre and not that awful Bruni, he would be reelected in 3 months with 99.99%.    Best,

No that was not my point - I was just referring to brand essence. Rossellini and Sastre did 1) convey something and 2) this something very much in accordance with the DNA of LancĂ´me. Those two girls did more for this company than many many talented marketers. and not for nothing did Lindsay-Jones regularly meet with both - beyond being very fond of cute girls   - : he was knowing very well what the EPS of L'Oreal owed them. Nor for no reason had they such a long contract. Not so for their pale followers (do not convey anything).

Much beyond sheer beauty, and as you were pointing very rightly in a previous post, those type of young models do not express anything (I mean: they tell you absolutely no story) - just interchangeable and evanescent dummies. I understand that Lancome after I. Rossellini and I. Sastre, is struggling to compensate on that point (probably they will never manage to get back to such a high degree). Best and sorry if repost,

Oh I see, so nothing above-average, actually..... I would have expected more (but obviously there is a little bit bias in my judgment )

@ prejean Thanks so much for the details - I would also hold for nothing all the buzz about her private life - sheer envy from some poor minus habens, nothing more. My question was rather twofold: 1) Is she still very much bankable today ? 2) And in the past (1990+), was she really considered to be above all other Spanish model (eg, as the "face" of Spain, or even as a kind of "unofficial" ambassador of the country) ? Or just being one among many other famous models in the country ? Best,

And what is Sastre's status today in Spain ? Is she regarded as something special, or just another cover girl with very long lifetime ?

Souvenir, souvenir.... Here another recall. This was at the French TV, probably by 1993 or 1994. You had different young people quietly sitting around a large table (do not ask why the hell I was absent-mindedly watching that kind of program ) being interviewed because they had some original life. Each had his or her own little story to tell. Well, I remember very distinctely that brunette, smiling and somewhat shy girl explaining in turn, with some accent and not so much fluency that she was doing some castings, and studying as well some obscure stuff at the faculty. Today, I'm pretty certain she was Sastre (at the time I did not even know that she existed) - She was a discrete beauty this day (flat hair and no too much make up), as the purpose was no to show off, it was just a talk among youngsters - yet almost 20 years after I can still recall vividly how she was radiating incredible grace around the table. All the other people were just fascinated - and myself also, probably. PS always wondered also how her comrades at La Sorbonne could study more than half a minute in the day when she was there...

Yes. Stendhal is for sure a very appropriate reference.

IMHO beauty is not exactly the central concept, nor candor sweetness or whatever else in that range. It is rather the sheer astonishment that such perfection could exist somewhere some time in the universe (just as for the original meisje met de parel sitting in the Mauritshuis in the Hague - I guess everybody having looked at such a painting can only remain deeply shocked, and wants to be a better person after). Well, that's not very different for Sastre - and her rapid fading now adds to that perception.

like you, the first mag i bougth (too much years ago) was very important for me: the ads, artistically shooted, and the portraits, were what i more liked and after that... i wasn't be able to stop! it's the only thing i spend some money constantly well, you know, this and books, pics, or my paint stuff.............. and it's a hobby, very peculiar, i know, but it's the thing i more like it and, think for a moment, when i begun keeping pics, ads, covers, etc., didn't exist the internet so it was n o possibility of being up to date in each moment, so, for me it's still more valuable a good shoot in paper @ Cositas & Prejean Oh, I see - you both are right, and I fully understand that being a (wise) collectioneur might be quite of a pleasure indeed. To me, Sastre is a different thing, actually not related to magazines. She is a genuine aestethic and philosophic experience, in fact just as an artwork - you see what I mean -. Best, PS is this one young enough to your taste ?

:o I thought I was the only one here to be critical about her recent years. So I was still far off.......; On this one no discussion about fatigue or ageing I guess:

@ prejean Thanks for your efforts I was referring especially to this you wrote (from what I can distinguish, a nice description of the very essence of Sastre's beauty - but unsure I did capture evthg. in it): "InĂ©s, de joven, tenĂa un rostro hipnĂłtico... unas redondeces faciales muy bonitas, fotogĂ©nicas. Eso, unido a su racialidad y timidez, pues creaban un conjunto con mucho gancho. Ahora luce un aspecto aburguesado, aunque, a su manera, da la impresiĂłn de que ha hecho con su vida lo que le ha dado la gana (por supuesto es una impresiĂłn personal, sin otro fundamento que la mera observaciĂłn), y muy bien por ella. " Best,

That is the point - but even more than sheer naturalness. Actually what was unique in that girl (IMHO) was that paradoxically she managed to convey both such an aristocratic look and such freshness. Tatler Russia was deeply shocking indeed - an epitome of bad taste and, above all, missing the essentials of her. Absolutely. That's also why LancĂ´me was a massive bonanza... Best (and sorry if re-post)

You are welcome To make my point clear, it is not really that I regret the (unavoidable) toll from age- it's rather that those untalented photographs constantly failing to capture her distinctive charm are a shame - on their agenda: heavy make-ups, prima donna ridiculous clothes and attitudes, empty expression in the eyes, etc - nothing to get out from there. Obviously there are some (rare) exceptions PS another one from Blanco & Nero

@ prejean I would rather stay on Cositas' side: it is not so much a matter of still being today sexy or enjoying high skin quality (which anyway would be a VERY narrow view of her charm) It's more that indeed she does not look the same as earlier, as she had lost her touch... I see now void and uninspired pics of an ageing diva relying on her status, nothing more. PS It is true also that not everybody had B. Rheims' talent at LancĂ´me in making pics of her Cheers,

Hola Prejean and Cositas ! Thanks so much for all the new (and, I must say, stunning) material. Clear, in the early nineties did Sastre leave unforgettable pics. She still was nothing( I mean: not much among zillions of other cute girls), nonetheless you already could feel with blatant evidence from every group photo how unique she was. Sadly, today is a different story.....time is unforgiving Cheers,

I like very much the parquet floor "au point de Versailles".

You mean, a myth destroyer ?

Game over.

Disagree. :trout: She was rather common at the time. IMHO It is only by the 90ies that she began a stunning transformation to become the most memorable model ever

Thanks cositas buenas. She still has more style than those brunettes altogether. PS: OK, this was a tire event with Pirelli - but could someone in the aula tell Campbell to go a bit easier with the Botox? she just looks like Michelin's bibendum. Cheers,

Ines Sastre
Well the beauty spot should be enough of a hallmark I guess....but I admit to me also there is something somewhat unusual in her look? Anyway.

You are welcome. Actually I rather dislike that Pirelli style - but it's fairly recent (a few months or so) I think in the contrary there is everything you would wish in one of the previous I posted. So youthful, cheerful, and gorgeous. Just incredible: Also, did you know this one ? Another favourite of mine.
