I will repeat myself - Cheryl Tiegs was the World's first Supermodel. She soared to be a super-star in 1978, before the others had even started. By saying this about Cheryl, I do not mean to demean Carol Alt in anyway. She is one of the all-time great Supermodels, without a doubt. It is just that so many models are making the claim of being "The First Supermodel" when Cheryl Tiegs was actually the real First Supermodel. If you look at the history of Modeling, no Model had ever broken out to become a household name and become world famous like Cheryl did.

I hate to disagree with this but I must. Cheryl Tiegs was actually the first model to parlay her modeling career into a book and becoming a television personality. Cheryl is also really the first Supermodel, even if a number of models claim that title. Cheryl's fame took off in 1978, years before Carol Alt or any of the others.

Thanks to everyone for sharing all of these great Pics. I have said it before, but the 80's models were the best. No one now can even touch them.

I know she dated JFK jr. in early 90's. I remember seeing a photo of them together I think in People magazine. They also did a profile of her in People. I think it was around the time she got the SI Cover. People Magazine's Website has archives, so the story they did on her might be there.
