Biopic of Gay Actor Montgomery Clift Starring Matt Bomer To Go Ahead January 13, 2015 We first reported in July of last year that Matt Bomer is developing a biopic of gay/bi icon Montgomery Clift, however, getting funding is hard. Well good news, HBO, which has had great success with gay-themed original movies such as ‘Behind the Candelabra’ and ‘The Normal Heart’ — also starring the out actor Bomer — has stepped in to fund and develop the project. The biopic will delve around Clift’s relationship with Elizabeth Taylor and how he struggled with his sexual orientation during a particularly challenging time, and died at the young age of 45. “The revelation of his sexuality did not emerge until the ’70s, when two high-profile biographers, one endorsed by his close confidants, revealed as much, rendering him a gay icon within the span of two years,” wrote Anne Helen Peterson in her book ‘Scandals of Classic Hollywood’. Guillaume Lambert discovered me there and it’s because of him that I had an audition (first I ever did in my life) for this movie called Gerontophilia from Bruce Labruce. I ended up landing a leading role. Then, I shot with Gus Van Sant (who saw me in Gerontophilia) for British GQ. The stylist who was on that shoot works for Calvin Klein and sent images of me to his team. They liked me. It all started there! Favorite music, band: Hip hop, art beat, Quebec artists such as Dumas Dumas, movie soundtracks, Pink Floyd. Favorite movie, tv show: A Clockwork Orange Favorite designer, fragrance or beauty product: Calvin Klein What would you be doing if you weren’t modeling? I would keep working as an actor, but I truly believe I can combine both! Favorite modeling experience so far? The shooting I did for British GQ with Gus Van Sant, Panos Yiapanis and the whole amazing team who worked on it. What’s the best thing about your hometown/country? My family and friends are still there! Which brand would you really love to model for? For now, I’ve worked with Calvin Klein and i loved my experience.
