I don't think it comes from a place of her parents thinking she wasn't beautiful, I think it comes more from a place of her parents not wanting her to be focused on how pretty she was, which is the same she's doing for her daughter now, is the kid beautiful? Yes, is that all she is? No, nor is the best/most important quality to have, so she rather nurture other things, or at least that's the feeling I got.

Sorry homegirl, but I find Adriana, Alessandra and Heidi walking the VS show like 20 times, showing you can be 35+, being a timeless beauty and still looking amazing and unashamed of it after a gazillion kids, beating the industry's age expectations way more empowering and feminist than you and your bullshit. Bye Felicia, you've done nothing to positively influence the industry, you're just another rich, beautiful, young white woman who has had priviledges her entire life and suddenly VS is not good enough for you?

I disagree. This is why VS was able to create stars such as Tyra, Heidi, Adriana, Alessandra and to a lesser extent Candice. Because VS was a very exclusive gig to get, the brand would push these women to become household names. No one sees any of these women and doesn't think VS! as soon as you see them. With 16 Angels it limits the amount of attention and press will get, making it harder for them to actually make it big. While they do need new blood, signing 10 girls together was 100% unnecesary, and time proved Doutzen right. I love Elsa but who the fuck outside BZ even knows her? No one, because VS hasn't done a good job at promoting her or any of the new Angels. When you have a smaller group of girls, it's easier to give them all their momentum and allow them to grow within the brand. IMO the Angel thing started to go downhill in 2009 when they signed a bunch of girls together, but they managed to still have some sort decent plan as Behati, Lily and Rosie from that group managed to become relevant. The turning point however was not only signing 10 Angels together, but them dropping two of them within a year and sign another Angel, that's 15 women getting contracts, 10 of them having to share the attention from the get-go because VS made just once announcement. At least the four women from this year had a week each to get some press. VS was doing well before, slowly buiding up girls, signing them at the right time, grooming them for their big moment and the keeping a small group people were familiar. Not it's just a clusterfuck and not even people in BZ can't manage to remember the 100 Angels they have. I adore some of the newer Angels, but I honestly think Candice will be the last star coming from VS, and even her didn't reach her full potential.

That interview was such a nice read! Love that she was so open and honest but without being petty or negative. It sucks that she's working less for sure, but at the same time I love that she decided to move back to Amsterdan and do her own thing.
