Just think of the cover as the crown at homecoming. You can be pretty, but if you're not popular you wont get the votes to get the crown. Everyone wants to be queen, but only one girl can reign. Everything can be related back to high-school, that's slightly nauseating because it is NOT the best time of our lives. The only thing I miss about high-school is not having bills, having everything paid for by my parents and the way my ass looked.. It's still good, but not THAT good.

No it's not about them loving Kate, because Chrissy is adored by MJ and yet she still hasn't been on the cover. Looking at google trends, for TODAY, not the past year because no one comes even close to Kate for the last 12 months, these are your numbers.

Maiya, you're clearly not getting it. You don't go into SI to get popular, you need to learn how to market yourself on the side and get other jobs that will bring you to national recognition to get the cover. You either need to date someone famous who's relevant, or you need to become known to the average Joe on the street. It's not about being sexy, because let's face it the standard rule of thumb is you should be sexy before even going to castings for the magazine. The cover is a different story entirely. They want people to pick up the magazine because there's a sexy girl on the cover yes, but they also want people to pick up the magazine because So and So is on the cover. It's about public recognition and selling power. They're not looking for a cult classic, they're looking for an instant hit. Kate's dougie made her an instant success, because it was a video that went viral and was viewed by millions of people. She continued on that trend for the past year with another viral dance video and her Carl's Jr. commercial. So because she's relevant to the average Joe she'll get the cover because she'll sell and they'll make money.

It's not about being sexy Maiya, it's about selling magazines and honestly the SI group this year Kate is the only one who has selling power. Alyssa may be attractive (debatable sometimes, her eye brows wig me out) but she doesn't have a name that will sell. Same goes for Anne, Julie, even Nina, (who only started get street cred after her super bowl commercial and that's not as much as everyone wants to believe either). Kate is the biggest name out of all of them if you look at Google trends, and she's had the highest profile year when it comes to national recognition. So no, any of the girls who "hate" on Kate because she got the cover seriously need to grow up and realize it's not about them not being attractive, or not being liked by the SI crew, it's about them not being capable/able of selling the most magazines. As RDF said, money talks, and right now Kate is holding the money.

Only 2 women in history have had 3 covers in a row and most people don't consider Kate as one of them, she's officially had 2, the little insert isn't considered an actual cover.

They called her the dreamy rookie but there will still be voting for rookie of the year like their was last year.
