Kate Upton
Not touching that debate because my opinion isn't flattering about the blond haired vacant eyed hippy, (all hip, no top) no tits blond.. You should all be able to figure out which one that's for. Kate looked gorgeous in her videos, hopefully something like the Swimsuit portfolio that came out 2 years ago comes out for this one. The pictures in it were better then the actual swimsuit edition and I would love to see some more of Kate in a swimsuit

Equinoxe will probably win... but it's just another mindless black/white shaped editorial Think Punk x3 - nice textures, not just another editorial that's pretty

The part I find frustrating, is that you say the source is that website, and yet if you look at the bottom of the picture, it clearly states that the scan was done by me for this forum. Though my original scans the color wasn't nearly as off for the double pages, nor were they put together.

2011 SI Swimsuit
So as an over all I'm not impressed, hopefully the magazine is better then the website. Here's my opinion.. feel free to agree or disagree - Shannon Click - Singapore Pleasantly surprised as I was expecting a lot worse, however still not a fan. Body Paint - Wet socks, meet flat proportions and I am slightly disturbed o.0 Cintia Dicker - Peter Island Not a fan as an overall, however I would like to bite her tushy. Kenza Fourati - Singapore Zero expectations, and they delivered I am especially disturbed by the stuffed puppy on her lap... Esti and floaties = deja vu on the pedofactor. And the straddling of the dragon just brings up thoughts that are not ok. Body Paint - Shapeless breasts, boring color scheme  Esti Ginzburg - Phillipines Squaty, bad posing, but she has a cute smile! Her first year was undoubtedly her best, loved the grotto picture, she just failed to deliver this year for me. Jessica Gomes - Peter Island Curvaceous, but looks a bit untoned. However I happen to like her this year, she has a nice exotic appeal while still coming across as as relate-able. Izabel Goulart - Singapore Was expecting a lot from her, I mean she's modeled lingerie for years but I find her very hit and miss. Some pictures are great while others are huge flubs... Girls with smaller frames can rarely pull off the laying on their sides and trying to create curves.. not impressed. Body Paint - Comes off a bit trashy to be perfectly honest, maybe it's just the paint this year, but really I'm not overly impressed with any of the girls for it this year. Brooklyn Decker - Peter Island Very light, with an almost ethereal quality, I actually like the premise behind the shoot, and her face is gorgeous, however.... the posing is incredibly boring, and the bathing suits - eew Hawaii - Truly her body looks less toned in this shoot then Peter Island, and with the bright and bold colors, it loses that soft quality that really brought her face to life for me.. not a fan. Julie Henderson - Fiji Amazonian woman... great body not so much face. Classic poses, nothing special, but she markets a swimsuit well. Hawaii - Boring suits, crappy poses, messy hair, masculine face. Do Not Want. Alyssa Miller - Fiji Aside from her brows I must admit I am smitten. Her body is fantastic, she brings enough sex appeal without looking trashy. The bold colors suit her coloring, she doesn't go all penthouse on us and still seems to bring a little originality. Hawaii - Very hit or miss here, however with the amount of love they gave her, (keeping in mind she's a rookie) but if she's a hit with the boys out there she may be shoved in to replace someone... All American girl for an all American magazine.. Watch out Irina, she just needs an all American sports star now. Body paint - Probably the best of the body paints, good body, nice coverage, again the bold colors seem to suit her. Not a fan, but it's better then the rest. Damaris Lewis - Singapore Plus size, untoned... gumpy face, though she has pretty eyes. Seriously girlfriend needs to lose the dance poses and learn how to pose as a MODEL... not a bloody dancer. Hilary Rhoda - Peter Island Classic beauty... does not = sex appeal. She's got a good body, and a pretty face, I just have troubles associating her with Sports Illustrated even though she's been around for a while. Not to mention I'm now seeing hints of Ashley Greene in her face, so gonna skip past her before I lose all interest. Genevieve Morton - Fiji For a woman who looked fantastic in SISA, she certainly doesn't here which makes me wonder how much airbrushing they needed to use. She looks singularly untoned in this shoot, and I had such high hopes for her and in two consecutive years she's failed to deliver. Irina Shayk - Hawaii Dirty.. messy hair.. classic posing... Girl friend has a body on her, but needs to steer clear of some of the more penthouse type poses. Also, I think she would probably be a bit sexier with darker hair, the highlights just make her hair look muddy. Some shots I love, others are just trashy Phillipines - The blue/green suits look great on her, taking out some of the ruddiness of her skintone and making it pop a bit more. Bit more diversity through her posing, though not much... I like this more then the last shoot, but I'm still not raving. Kate Upton - Phillipines Her candids looked so much better then this.. she was the biggest let down in the history of SI for me. I had such hopes, based on her guess work and her beach bunny shoots... and then we get this. Her poses are great, the swimwear suits her, however if she doesn't learn to contort a little bit through the midsection then she will always be hit or miss. Some of those pictures are fantastic, others are squaty and unattractive. Don't be a highschool girl with a camera, be a model. Body Paint - Again, learn how to pose... but seriously she should never go without a bra, the girls are starting to head the southern way and look like they may be ready to jump the border. Again it's another boring suit. Chrissy Tiegan - Phillipines I'm not sure what she was doing, but she seriously reminds me of a girl who's on vacation trying to look cute. Last year I was excited about her cross over from SISA and was disappointed - that hasn't changed this year. Perhaps she should go back to SISA because she's failing to deliver for me. Jessica White - Phillipines America's Next Top Model anyone? She just looks rough this year... through the face, through the body, through the poses. Not impressed. Anne V - Fiji Loads, and Loads of pink. Body of a porn star, face of... well something. It's not bad, it's just plain. Then top it all off with an overkill of pink/peach/red and my eyes are starting to cross.

World's Greatest Supermodels ranking
I'm going to be devil's advocate and point out the original origins of the term 'supermodel'. Sadly, while the term has been applied through out the last century for a number of models and women it was only in the late 70's up through the mid 90's that the term really took off with the public. Issued predominantly in the United States, Sports Illustrated was what initially brought the term supermodel and the names of these models to the household, where people who had little to no interest in fashion began to recognize the names and faces of models. The large contracts that have become synonymous with 'supermodel' didn't start appearing with a few notable exceptions until the early 80's, which was also the point when many models started branching out from endorsing purely fashion related products and starting picking up mainstream items such as soda contracts for Pepsi, and other lucrative contracts such as Ford Truck, where they didn't just use their face but their name to sell the product. As the models began to embrace old-style glamor, they were starting to replace film stars as symbols of luxury and wealth. In this regard, supermodels were viewed not so much as individuals but as images. But it wasn't until the 1990's that supermodels became increasing predominant in the media. Supermodels were in essence seen as superstars, having risen from just a face, to a personality. They did talk shows, were cited in gossip columns, partied at the trendiest nightclubs, landed movie rolls, inspired franchises and dated or married film stars and earned millions. Fame allowed them to command higher fees and market themselves how they wanted. The original super's, quoted as the "Big 6" were, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington and were accepted by the fashion community as supermodels. They were the most heavily in demand, collectively dominating magazine covers, fashion runways, editorial pages, and both print and broadcast advertising. Excluding Moss, they are known as the "original supermodels". In the late 1990's the rise of the supermodel had peaked and was declining, when actors and sports starts, pop signers and television personalities starting taking back the covers and major contracts with those mainstream companies that the world as an overall knew. Many designers started looking to less glamorous models so that their clothing wasn't overpowered by the personality wearing it and could market itself. Whereas many supermodels of the past decade had been American born, their accent making for an easier transition to stardom, the new crop of models started coming from non-english speaking countries. The only notable models truly attributed at that point to becoming tantamount to stars were Laetitia Casta, Eva Herzigová, Carla Bruni, Tatiana Sorokko, Nadja Auermann, Helena Christensen, Adriana Karembeu and Milla Jovovich. The late 90's, early 20th's century gave rise to the Brazilian Trinity, Gisele Bundchen, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, however they had trouble breaking out of their role as models and into their role as Starlet; this "new trinity" were unable to cross over into the world of TV, movies and talk shows as easily as their predecessors due to their foreign accents. Several seasons later we were inundated with a crop of Eastern Europeans barely into their teens, pale and "bordering on anorexic". They were to young to date movie stars to skeletal to bag the lucrative VS contract and their lack of English speaking skills gave them even less of a chance to launch into superstardom. Models Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks, in an effort to stay relevant took the route of many of the early supermodels and broached into television, launching hit reality shows and endorsing products that the public saw where their name was as relevant as their face. So on those lines, the closest thing we have to Supermodels in this day and age are probably Petra Nemcova, mainly in part due to the tsunami incident and her miraculous rescue and life changing story that resulted in helping millions with her self created charity "Happy Hearts" as well as those people she has dated, most notably (Sean Penn) and Miranda Kerr who like many of the original Supers is married to a Hollywood Star. Bar Rafaeli while not as necessarily big in the fashion community has also became fairly well known due to her SI cover, and stint on the side of a 747 and her long time boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio. Unfortunately, if she doesn't start working more she'll only even really be known for who she was dating. Even sports stars don't command the same presence as movie stars in this day and age. So Gisele and Adriana while broaching the ranks of Supermodels are known more for past conquests, (Leonardo DiCaprio and Lenny Kravitz) then their current beaus, and neither have truly made it as a household name with the general public or the Hollywood set. Another possibility to rocket into stardom is Candice Swanepoel but as of this time she is still predominantly known as that hot blond who works for VS. Her name hasn't blossomed into full recognition by the public as of this time. Marisa Miller is also close, she's probably one of the smartest models out their currently, having marketed herself into a lucrative contract with Harley Davidson, (the first model to do so) and Captain Morgans, as well as having a spokesmodel position with the NFL, far different from simply dating a player. So as much as we'd all like to think that high fashion plays a huge part in the term supermodel, it truly doesn't. The term, was applied to those women who made it big not only in the modeling world, be it commercial or the like but became known throughout sadly the English speaking community, mainly North America. Staying power in the industry had less to do with being coined a supermodel then main stream public acknowledgment.
