Tiger Woods Treasures Time With Growing Family When pro golfer Tiger Woods injured his knee, being told not only would he need to take an extended break from the sport, but would also require surgery to mend his ligament, his future was filled with doubt. However, Tiger was unwilling to succumb to any negativity. Despite enduring surgery with months of rehab following, Tiger admits to Golf Digest that his hiatus has actually been a gift in disguise, giving him the opportunity to spend quality time with his wife Elin — who is expecting the couple’s second child in February — and their daughter Sam Alexis, 18 months. For Tiger, the time is treasured, as he realizes that, had it not been for his injury, the memories he is making with his daughter wouldn’t exist. “Watching her learn how to talk — yelling at the dogs like I do. We play catch. She’ll catch it and throw it right back to me. I wouldn’t have seen all of this if I had been playing a lot.” Having experienced a world wind of ups and downs within the past few years — including the death of his father in 2006 — the 32-year-old nonchalantly brushes off knee surgery as “easy.” Explaining his “transition” in life, Tiger reveals that the end of one chapter closed with his father, while a new chapter began with the birth of his first child. “My life changed dramatically when my dad died. Then, after losing my dad, the next year to have Sam — those were polar opposite experiences,” says Tiger, who goes on to say that he found himself in a position “to be as low as I could possibly be [and] to be as high as I could possibly be, all in one year.” While Tiger shares that after completing each recent milestone in his life — becoming engaged, tying the knot, and becoming a father — he was told that he was “going to become a worse golfer,” he has demonstrated to his critics quite the opposite. Crediting his family with making him “a happier person” that in turn provided him with a “more rounded life,” the golfer addresses the negativity, saying “they have no idea.” One milestone he isn’t looking forward to reaching, however, is Sam learning to sweet talk her daddy! “It’s something I talked about with Jay Haas [a father of five]. I told him, ‘It’s harder to leave home.’ He said, ‘Wait until they tell you, “Don’t leave Daddy.” That kills you.’ That’s something I’m not looking forward to at all.”- Nancy O' Dell
Morning Call: Newest Vegas magazine cover girl Nancy O’Dell loves Las Vegas Radiant Access Hollywood host Nancy O’Dell has stepped out from the TV cameras to become the newest cover girl for our Vegas magazine -- and she’ll be broadcasting from here during the giant Consumer Electronics Show in two weeks. In the new January issue of our sister publication, the anchorwoman of one of NBC’s most successful entertainment news programs dishes on becoming a new mom, how she juggles her showbiz duties and her love of Sin City! In her exclusive interview with Humberto Guida, she said: “I love Vegas. I go to Vegas a lot for work. We do a lot of interviews with celebrities on the Strip, or if they’re performing, we cover that. I make sure my husband comes with me so we can do it up, go to a nice dinner, hit a show. That’s where some of the perks of Access Hollywood come in because we can buy tickets at the last minute to most of the shows. We turn it into a great date night. “I went to Vegas several times with my parents. In those days, there were just a couple of places to go on the Strip. Now the hotels just go forever. The skyline has exploded. It’s amazing. I guess that’s why all the celebrities love to come to Vegas. Maybe we should move the set of Access Hollywood there. I’ll bring that up at the next meeting.” Nancy explained that family comes first over showbiz assignments. “My family is my No. 1 priority. I say that to every boss here, and that’s the way it should be for everybody.” The anchorwoman hid her pregnancy on air for three months until she broke the news during an interview with Will Smith! It prompted her to write a book about pregnancy, which has become a bestseller. “Things that happened to me were not covered in the pregnancy books, so I was taken by surprise. So I decided to write a book for other women -- and, believe it or not, a lot of the information is very helpful to men, too.” In the cover story and photo layout, Nancy also reveals the “golden touch” for getting celebrities to open up for her exclusives. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and I think celebrities enjoy that. We don’t act like these people are going to change the world or doing brain surgery. It’s not just about feeding their egos. Celebrities come to me for exclusives because they know that although I won’t shy away from the tough questions, they’re going to be presented in a fair way. It’s not going to be twisted or distorted.” Source: http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/blogs/luxe-l...ne-cover-girl-/- Gwen Stefani

Grand generational meeting Nancy O'Dell, a member of "Access Hollywood" since its inception in 1996: "My family and I are very close, and being with my family during the holidays has always been my first priority. We've had many wonderful Christmases throughout the years, but last year was especially poignant. It was the first Christmas with my beautiful baby girl, Ashby, and the last Christmas with my wonderful mother. It made me realize just how much those times and memories with your family should always be treasured and should never be taken for granted. "Last Christmas, my mom had recently been diagnosed with ALS [Lou Gehrig's disease]. So while it was a very tough Christmas for all of us, the time I spent with her was truly precious and memorable. And as it was Ashby's first Christmas, I was so grateful that my mom got to meet her and they got to spend time together as grandmother and granddaughter during the Christmas season. My mom passed away this June, but she already gave me the biggest gift for which anyone could hope: She showed me how to be a great mother. If I can be just half the mother my mom was to me, I will be a great one. And I know she will be watching over us this year as a Christmas angel."
