VOGUE FRANCE FEBRUARY 2026 INTERVIEW THE IRRESISTIBLE DUTCH TOP MODEL KNOWS AN UNPRECEDENTED CAREER LONGEVITY. MUSE OF CREATORS, BEAUTY AMBASSADOR, MOTHER, DEFENDER OF NATURE... DOUTZEN KROES CONFIDES WITHOUT MAKEUP. BY JADE SIMON BEAUTY HAS NO AGE It's hard to believe that someone could one day reproach you for being "too beautiful." Yet that's what happened to Doutzen Kroes in the 2000s, when she began her modeling career walking the castings of the Fashion Weeks in Milan and Paris. In the full androgynous era, her lagoon-blue gaze, angelic soft features, Raphaëlite heroine mouth, and sculptural body disconcerted the industry. But the Dutch top is one of those quiet forces of nature, capable of asserting herself with gentleness, without letting herself be imposed upon by diktats. "I always said that if things got too bad, I would simply go home to Holland." A serene Dutch temperament, who comes from a childhood spent in the countryside, and twenty-two years later, she still shines. The Dutch top, muse of Victoria’s Secret, L’Oréal ambassador and currently on the cover of Vogue France… She has just passed her 44th cover and continues to make her way without using social networks. In honor of our February issue, she reveals to us her motherhood and her daily life, free as air. You are posing on the cover of Vogue France for the third time, but it's also the 44th Vogue cover of your career. Has the feeling evolved with time? I didn’t even know the exact number, but wow, yes — it’s a lot! The very first time I saw myself on a Vogue cover, I was so excited and it felt so special. Vogue is really iconic. Even after all these years, that magical feeling hasn’t changed at all. I still feel incredibly lucky and happy that, at 40 years old, I can keep working with such talented teams in Paris. It’s a real gift! Is there something about Parisian style that appeals to you? I adore the quiet elegance of Parisian style: those muted, sober colors and the beautifully simple lines, without any excess volume. Day to day, I live in T-shirts, jeans, and soft sweaters when the evenings turn cool—and I feel completely at ease in them. It’s no coincidence that this is precisely what I’ve worn for all these years. It’s timeless, effortless, and truly me. Over the years, have you developed rituals to prepare yourself before a photo shoot? In the past, I always chose my projects with great care. To get into the right mindset, I had to step out of my daily routine as a mother and deliberately inflate my ego a little, almost like slipping into the role of a mannequin. The day before a shoot, I cherished the calm of my hotel room. I would apply a Korean Biodance sheet mask and leave it on for at least three hours. They are incredibly effective — my skin always looked radiant and perfectly prepared the next day. Working with the world's most famous photographers has refined your understanding of the image you send through their lens. What have you learned about yourself over time? I’ve never been a fashionista. I truly respect fashion—it’s my profession, after all—but I’m happiest when I can lose myself in nature, surrounded by science and wonder. That’s where my body and soul feel truly nourished. Even when I walk through the city, I notice how deeply I miss the presence of animals and the wild. It reminds me how much I need nature, just as much as the air I breathe. Motherhood has also redefined your priorities. What have been the most significant changes since becoming a mother? At the beginning, I tried to do everything in front of me. We had a babysitter, I worked a lot with my husband DJ, it was difficult to hold on. But times have changed, now I work much less, and I have the chance to choose the projects that really please me and that I enjoy. THE BEAUTY HAS NO AGE Do you take dietary supplements? Are there any that you trust or believe in particularly? I have a love-hate relationship with them. We need them today because the minerals and essential vitamins from commercial foods no longer have the same content as in our grandparents' time. Also, living in a city, between four walls, this generates deficiencies. So I take vitamin D, of course, and vitamin C, B12, and omega-3. I know that vitamin D is essential, and omega-3 too. Sometimes I think it's better to know what we need. But I would prefer one day to have a perfect life without needing to take them. What sources do you trust to present yourself to the world, often without makeup in the way you live? What does your daily beauty routine look like, and how has it changed over the years? It is very simple, I wash my face, I hydrate myself. I love the products from the Spanish brand Ayuna, the same as perfumes and essential oils from Alqvimia. On the other hand, I discovered a little while ago the PDRN-based laser from salmon DNA and that makes a real difference in my skin, it gives me a glow. I also like to do microneedling. I also really enjoy trying cupping – a natural facial protocol with ventouses – I have heard a lot of good things about it. When it comes to my face changing, I don't have the impression that it has changed so much. But it surely makes me think that aging is not a drama. I'm not afraid of it. It's genetic. However, I believe a lot in the power of persuasion. If we repeat all day that we are old and ugly, it will reflect on us. The same beauty that we feel inside will reflect on us when we get older, we love ourselves and accept ourselves as we are. The image we have of ourselves is also largely influenced by the standards of social media. Have you been less influenced by the standards of social media in recent years? For two years now, I’ve come to see how much social media had taken over my life—quietly, but powerfully. I carry no regrets. Yet Carl Jung’s words keep ringing true: “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to understand ourselves.” And truly, the world outside reflects what lives within us. On Instagram, I finally saw how toxic it had become. It nourished endless opinions, comparisons, and judgments. When I stepped away, I suddenly had so much more time, clarity, and inner space. Walking my dog used to feel like scouting for content—every tree, every cloud, every moment became potential material. Now I just walk. I breathe. I feel the leash in my hand and the ground beneath my feet. It’s so much simpler—and so much richer. And the most beautiful gift? The people who truly love me now love me even more deeply. They say I’ve become lighter, warmer, more present… more myself. How do you imagine yourself as a grandmother, with white hair, full of wisdom? Live a peaceful life on my farm, where I grow my own vegetables together with my grandchildren. Maybe one day I’ll write a book about my life. But above all, I want to keep living by continuing to learn. To me, the true meaning of life is discovering courage within yourself. We cannot escape it: in life, we must keep evolving and help one another to become more empathetic. Only then can we truly grow — and only then can we become truly compassionate. Is this also accompanied by a special dietary regime? In the same way, I cut out dairy that causes inflammation. When I crave coffee, I prefer to have tea, which is a better option for health. I don’t have a strict diet, but in general, I opt for healthy plates. At one point, I forced myself to have a small breakfast, but it wasn’t for me. Now, depending on my cravings, I first take a glass of warm water with lemon and Celtic salt. Then, when I’m hungry, around 10 or 11 a.m., I eat fruit with yogurt and seeds or fresh avocado toast. For dinner I love roasted chicken with vegetables. For example, yesterday I had roasted chicken with courgette from our garden. That gives it an even more special taste than if it came from the supermarket. Do you spend time with your children? Your daughter is 11 years old, so she must be going through adolescence. How do you handle the subject of social media with her? I spend a good part of the month with them. My son (15 / Born on January 21, 2011) is a teenager, so maybe he's a bit less thrilled about it than my 11-year-old daughter. But what I've mainly learned from motherhood is to have faith in a positive future. Children are little mirrors; they teach me so much about myself. After that, there's no manual—they're not perfect, and neither am I. It's about learning together as we go along. Education is a tricky subject, especially for generations that grow up with social media. The real luxury is being able to be there. I notice the changes in them, even the tiniest ones that you can't always see when you're caught up in full-time work. I'm part of this first generation of parents who have to deal with social media. We learn at the same time as they do. It's a real rollercoaster. But what I try to do is plant little seeds. I think kids don't always listen to everything you tell them. On the other hand, they see you act perfectly and imitate you. I can tell them "stop being on your phone all the time," but if they see me reading, that's much more effective. If I spend my own time with my nose in a screen, I can't get upset that they do the same. My daughter doesn't have a phone. As for my son, I encourage him to listen to his inner voice that tells him to stop when there's too much scrolling. I make him responsible. The phone has no place in the bedrooms at home. I encourage them to go out and do sports. Do you have a sports routine that energizes you? Before, I had a very strict and methodical sports routine. I didn’t care what day of the year it was — I forced myself to do it anyway, even if it didn’t always feel right for me. Nowadays, I really listen to what my body and my hormonal cycle are telling me. When I’m feeling full of energy, especially during ovulation, I’ll do kick-boxing or yin yoga. Other times, I need to be gentler with myself. I complement this with neuro-cryotherapy, which helps me regulate my nervous system, and I have a lot of massages at home in Amsterdam. I trust the practitioners I see and only book them when the timing feels right. (Translated with GROK) ____________________________________________ Happy 41st birthday (January 23, 1985) to the lovely Doutzen Kroes! Wishing you a year filled with love and success. It's Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year, and Vogue France has released their depressive cover. Well... happy she got some A-list Vogue cover! It's been 14 years ago for Vogue Paris/France! (Vogue Paris April 2012) Other than that I have nothing positive to say about this lifeless cover to be honest. She looks miserable (tired/sad/depressive in her eyes). I will be pleasantly surprised if this cover sells well. People who buy Vogue are into trends like makeup trends, hair trends, clothing... Few people will find this interesting and most people will skip the February issue and buy the March cover with the new season and hopefully new and better trends. People don't buy Vogue to look at makeup free pictures, unkempt hair and boring looks. I don't believe this will sell well, but hopefully that won't be a problem for Vogue France. I desperately hope this will be the start of the comeback she deserves in 2026. _____________________________________________ Valentino Garavani died. He/She said that Doutzen was never a big model, and the ring the dong in Turkey was actually a distraction because she was there as a prostitute/a real whore, just like many other models. He/she was not really surprised but a lil bit shocked because Doutzen is married. It was complete nonsense post from a crazy person.

Doutzen recently liked his post on Instagram, so it seems like she has downloaded the Instagram app again and hopefully might be active on her Instagram account again soon. I hope so, because social media is important for models. Clients often book models who are active on social media. And she is currently receiving only a very few good job offers, so it would be fantastic if she returns to Instagram!

What an ignorant and stupid reaction. Really insulting! In 2012, she was one of the most successful and highest paid models in the world. VS Angel, worldwide face of L'Orèal, Vogue Paris cover, campaigns like Tiffany & Co, closing Miu Miu show etc.. She was very busy in Turkey because she was the face of the Ankara Shopping Fest with a campaign and TV commercial (s), and she did promotions there such as TV interviews, doing Turkish talk shows, which are probably still on YouTube. She probably did not have much time to stay longer.

She looked good and very happy that she is part of the first segment, which was the best segment. All these models in 30s and 40s rocked this first segment. I just wish she had put some hair to the front like the other models had. I always find it beautiful when the hair is on the shoulders and chest... like in the VS 2005 show. 7f145a3e0f74912304f9299cd6b3982d.mp4 Luckily, she always worked well with stylist Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele, who gave her nice outfits. I wonder who will style the show next year. Carine Roitfeld wants to do it. If DK gets cast, she will definitely get one bad/boring/weak outfit. 4e08e880be22989104282ab2cb437673.mp40407af00df1c828049f584e072568045.mp4026e55158e4d5a7729c3e365ed8fa364.mp4

Nice nice nice!! She's been in NY for at least almost a week because her best friend Jetteke had a party last Friday with her best friends and Doutzen was not there. She's wearing a lot of jewelry. Hopefully she's also working in NY doing editorial/campaign work. A jewelry shoot for Tiffany & Co, and they let her keep some jewelry.

Hopefully she will get some exposure from VS this year, because last year she didn't receive any and only appeared a few seconds during the live show where she wore just one outfit and had no further exposure from VS. Fortunately, she did go viral on the internet due to the issue with the runway, and received a lot of great exposure + positivity worldwide. This video was posted a few days ago on an Instagram account and has over 14 million views in just a few days.

Photoshoot + interview because Turkish people will surely be curious and it will definitely get media attention in Turkey. She didn't know how it was paid. Doutzen can't help it..she had the opportunity to do this and just did her job. I think if the Turkish economy did not look bad, there would not have been much/any fuss but because the Turkish economy has become so bad in recent years, there is now fuss. Momager Kris Jenner would have made the best of this situation by probably reaching out to Vogue Turkey herself and proposing a cover shoot and interview. She would have emphasized the potential publicity and sales boost for Vogue Turkey, as well as the opportunity for significant free media publicity all over the country. And it would be foolish for them not to take advantage of this opportunity. ☆ Mo Karadag is Doutzen's manager, and he is Turkish. He can surely try to arrange this. ____________________________________________ Hopefully she doesn't skip Paris Fashion Week! Wish she walked for S/S 2026 D&G in Milan and S/S 2026 YSL in Paris.

Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş claimed that Dutch top model Doutzen Kroes was paid 41 million lira to ring the gong at a festival during the term of Melih Gökçek in 2012. I don't know how much that was worth in 2012 because the Turkish lira has lost a lot in value over the past 13 years. I guess it's a lot back in 2012. According to GROK : In 2012, 41 million Turkish lira (TRY) was worth approximately 17.742.005 euros, based on the average exchange rate of that year. As of now (late September 2025), 41 million TRY is worth approximately 845.009 euros/1.086.682 dollars This news in Turkey appears to be trending and making headlines everywhere in Turkey. Hopefully, this media attention will finally get her a new Turkish Vogue cover! 😁 Haberler.comThe identity of the model who received 41 million lira by...Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş announced that 41 million lira was paid for a model to ring a gong during Melih Gökçek's term. Yes and no. She's not getting good work. Now, after her comeback, she is only getting boring makeup-free + unkempt hair look for editorial work... plain boring editorial work. Not interesting to look at. (Except for the great shoot for D REPUBLICA in 2024/good team creating good looks with hair and makeup, good modeling and good photography) With good hair and makeup, the whole team can easily upgrade her editorial work. She can still look great...just look at VSFS 2024... Shame that stylist Emmanuelle Alt gave her just 1 bad/boring/weak outfit. But she looked flawless. She's just not getting good opportunities.

But they cannot do that because those collections from 2013 are no longer available. I'm a desperate fan. I don't mind any month. As long as it is good/impressive, because with a photoshoot like in Vogue USA 2024 or Double magazine in 2025, you really don't make an impressive impression on anyone in the industry. She needs something good/creative with her beauty, classy, sexy, or interesting but in a good way. With good hair and makeup and good photography. UPDATE: Her Dutch agent/manager Mo Karadag is also in Milan. He may be able to speak with some casting directors so that Doutzen can book some shows in Milan. Hopefully, Doutzen is already with him in Milan! Vogue France has featured an old picture of Doutzen in their new October issue, with Kim Kardashian on the cover. The photo was originally taken in Greece for Vogue UK 2013 by Josh Olins. I can't believe it's been 12 years already. Time flies!!

These weak polaroid pics seem almost the same as those from 2 years ago and they didn't make a good impression back then either. The reflection of those windows blocks the pupils in the pics, making her eyes appear emotionless as you can not see the pupils. I would have photoshop out that reflection or make sure that it disappears while taking the pics. She might have visible roots here or her hair might be naturally sun-bleached in the Summer. I would have simply dyed or styled it better so that it makes a better impression on casting directors, stylists, and so on. But oh well ... I don't understand a lot of decisions made by her and her modeling agency because they don't put much energy in her career. Her comeback was very weak. 13 months ago in August 2024, she stated in a big interview for Vogue NL that she was open and available again. But the lack of campaigns/covers and the lack of interest from the modeling industry is disappointing... only 1 magazine shoot in 2025 is kinda shocking... (my opinion)

But I also hope she won't be exclusive again because it's pointless if she never gets the campaign!! So frustrating!! I believe it only happened once with Miu Miu, but I'm not even sure because she didn't even get it for that season. She walked exclusively for the F/W 2012 show in Paris but didn't get the F/W 2012 campaign.. she got the S/S 2013 campaign photographed by Inez & Vinoodh. She also walked exclusively for shows like Prada, Calvin Klein, Versace, Alaïa, Fendi, Max Mara, and the list goes on but she never got the campaign. So being exclusive for a show is completely pointless for Doutzen. It even hinders her chances of walking for other shows and potentially scoring a campaign. So I really hope for a few shows like models like Irina Shayk, Adriana Lima, Carolyn Murphy, Natasha Poly do. That's how you stay more relevant in the industry. Walking shows for brands that launch multiple campaigns is also a good choice, so walking for shows like Calvin Klein (Mainline, Jeans, Underwear, Swim, etc.) Ralph Lauren (Mainline, Fragrance and Polo) Miu Miu (Mainline, Accessories, Resort, Holiday, etc.) Carolina Herrera (Mainline, Eyewear, Makeup, etc.) is a smart move because it increases the chance of getting a campaign for that brand. Or/and focus on smaller brands where she can open/close the show and has a strong chance of booking the campaign, such as shows for Blumarine, Diesel and Sportmax.

Fashion Weeks are coming soon! Excited because there are many shows this season! She can make an impressive list of great shows this season with plenty of opportunities. NYFW is already this week!
