IMO adding Shaq definitely helps the C's. People forget that Shaq was the reigning All-Star game MVP before joining the Cavs. Sure his production/role won't be as big as it once was, but it gives them a great low-post threat. If Sheed comes back, they still have 1 more bullet to shoot IMO. Miami and Orlando are the frontrunners though. Can't believe what a great job Miami did filling the roster spots. Miller, House, Big Z are all solid. And they'll have a superstar on the court for the whole game everytime (besides blowouts). Playoffs is different though. Magic, and Boston can cause them big time trouble. In fact if Vince has an injury free season, I'd put them a step ahead of Miami. Lakers on the other hand addressed their weaknesses with on-point transfers. Steve Blake is an improvement over Fish, and Matt Barnes gives them more defensive versatility. BTW do people remember what happened the last time Magic played the Lakers? Epic win by Kobe @2:15. And you know when Barnes was sold out to join the Lakers. He told that it was when Kobe texted to him this line: "Anybody mad enough to mess with me, is mad enough to play with me"

Meh, don't worry about me. Sorry you gave up the 2nd place though. BTW, no luck on joining the H2H league. It says: This league is not accepting any new entries. Are all you guys in there already?

WAT??!!!!! The first week of my fantasy career, and I'm already getting robbed. I might as well pull a Zinedine Zidane move, and retire at the top of my career. :persuazn: All kidding aside, feel free to reset. Welcome aboard Baron. And seriously, what's the difference between the normal and H2H leagues? And also, is it strictly a premier league tournament, or are FA, Carling, and Micky Mouse cups counted as well?
  8. The husband of the blonde dies in a tragic car accident. At the funeral the blonde is crying out loud, and barely standing on her feet. Words can't express how upset she is. Her friends feel sorry for her, and try to ease her pain by trying to tell her that she shouldn't be so sad: Oh sweetie, stop it already. Yes, we all feel sorry. But you are young. You are so beautiful. You will find someone better by tomorrow. To which our broken-heart blonde replies with tears: Yes I know I'll find someone by tomorrow. But what am I going to do tonight?

    FIFA World Cup 2010

fixed. Seriously though, if one team has dissapointed me so far, that has to be Spain (OK, I exaggerate). I followed all of their games in Euro 08', almost all in qualifing groups, and most of their friendlies. They were awesome, and were one the 3 teams I was happy with getting the trophy. Now, they're playing like wussies (pardon my french). In the group stages they had a total of 4 goals. Thats what I'd expect them to average (or at least do against Honduras). In the elemination rounds they've had a perfect streak of 1:0 victories. Thats really sad for them. They've come this far with their solid defense, and up till the game against Germany, Villa had scored, or assisted all of their goals. Hell, Sergio Busquets is not even entering the opponents half (I'm not trying to knock him, thats probably his assignment (which makes it even sadder)). The Dutch, you (and most people) claim to be boring, have scored 5 more goals than Spain. Almost twice in other words. I don't know why they tend to self-destruct so much on final minutes, but at least they do so after gaining comfortable leads. Besides Robbens selfishness, and vPersies inept display as a scorer, there's nothing to hate on them. I can't even believe it myself, but I am actually rooting for Netherlands. To me they, along with Brasil, have been the best teams of the tournament. And that's coming from a guy, who was hating both teams before the tournament started. P.S.: I now I tend to come a little over-the-top, when sharing my opinions, but hopefully you don't take anything I said personal. Just trying to add to conversation, really. Cheers Mike.

Oh my!!!! What happened?!! :| :| :| :| Not from a basketball point of view, especially not for LeBron. Quoting an NBA analyst, Bill Simmons: "LeBron had a chance to go to Chicago *RINGS*, stay in Cleveland *Loyalty*, or play at MSG *Immortality*. Can't believe he chose HELP!!!" They (Bron & Wade) will kill each others overall effectiveness, and won't have much of a shot to win an MVP award unless they have a super regular season record (which they won't). Plus it takes much more to win a title. If they wanted to join forces, they should have had done this in Chicago, where they already had a supporting cast ready to win big, not Miami. Come to think about it, That would be awesome.

"Lebron James is planning to announce the team with which he will sign during a one-hour special on ESPN Thursday night, ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard has learned through independent sources." OK, let me get this straight. ESPN.com is reporting that ESPN the Mag reporter has learned that there will be a one-hour special on ESPN???? that's some damn fine reporting! :blueeyedbaby: Seriously though, ESPN is sad,. . . and so is LeBron. I mean he has taken attention whoring to a whole new level. I follow a couple of bball forums, and most of the Cavs fans (especially pre-LeBron ones) claim that they have lost a lot of respect on him even if he stays a Cavalier (IMO deservedly so). And just so everyone knows, I won't be watching. I know he'll go to the Knicks (knew it more than 2 years ago), and for a whole hour, he will most likely be telling how Cleveland will always be in his heart, how he will always be the Akron boy, usual bs. . . classy

Seriously, I hope today he'll make a comeback. My prediction is that Spain will win 2:0, with him scoring the first. That would mean a brand new team will win the World Cup for the first time. On a side note, it's the first time the Euros are winning in a different continent.

I knew I was jinxing it. Now England is out, too. I really doubt that he could have actually seen it (he wasn't on the line, because he was checking offside line), but it's about time people realize that when ball hits the bar, then the ground, it will get a reverse spin, thus if it hits the bar back, then the ball was in 99.99% of times. (Not sure how clear I was). And I definitely agree about the video replays. Sometimes ridiculous things can happen. I really felt for Fabio Quagliarella against Slovakia. He scored a hat-trick, but two of his legit goals were canceled, and as if it wasn't enough, he got punched in the face (and both referees saw it), and no penalization. Damn you Blatter. :persuazn: I sure wasn't going to miss this. How are you guys doing. I'll scan the sport threads a bit, and be back with some giantic posts shortly. Yeah, actually besides the last 10 minutes of the 1st half, and the first 10 of the 2nd, England players were ghosts of themselves. I'm really dissapointed in all of them. Hargreaves, along with some of my other favourite English players (Agbonlahor, Walcott, Ashley Young) were not even in the team. At least these guys would have tended to play team ball. Gerrard tried a bit, but wasn't his usual self, all Lampard did was shooting, and I have no idea what Rooney was trying to do. Barry proved he is way too overrated, and was guilty on both of Germany's goals in the 2nd (though Johnson should have fouled in the 3rd goal, before the cross to Müller). Terry-Upson-James trio failed miserably as well. I can go on, and on dissing the English team, but i guess it's already too late. I really feel sorry guys. As our commentator here said, the golden generation of England, remains to be golden only on paper. Even though they were not one of my favourite teams, I was hoping they'll make some more noise this time around.

My guess is we're headed to a scoreless game. I believe England will take it 1:0, and maybe that goal will come in the extra time. Rooney may break the ice, and score the winner. I'm rooting for England today. BTW, i made a bracket with my future picks. I know I won't be 100%, but at least I gave it a shot. Your predictions?
  20. ^ glad you liked it. ------- George is an 8 year old kid. One night, he enters his parents' bedroom without knocking the door, and sees that they are doing something unfamiliar to him. Out of his curiousity he asks his dad: "Dad, what are you doing?" His dad replies: "I'm having sex." George: "Is it a good thing?" Dad: "Sure, sex is the best." George: "So, can I have some sex too?" His dad gives George a smack, and tells him to go back to his room. Years pass, and George grows up, but deep inside he always remains hurt from the first and only time his dad hit him. As he enters his 20s, he starts dating girls, and getting intimate with them too. One day he is at his bedroom with his girfriend, when his best friend Michael enters from the window. Michael: "Dude, I just,. . . whoa, whoa!!!. . . hey George watcha doin'?" George: "What do you mean what am I doing? I'm having sex." Michael: "You're having sex?" George: "Yes, I'm having sex." Michael: "Is it a good thing?" George: "Sure, sex is the best." Michael: "So, can I have some sex too?" George: "Sure you can. I'm not selfish like my dad."

Here's a quicker review this time: I stayed late last night to watch Argentina-Brasil, and it was worth it. Brasil won 1-3, as Luis Fabiano scored a twice, while Kaka' had a flawless game. Brasil now officialy got their ticket to South Africa, while Argentina remains in the 4th seed, but now they feel the breath of Colombia, and Ecuador on their neck, as both teams are just 2 points behind. Portugal tied late in the game in Denmark, but they are in a really bad situation, as Sweden won at Hungary with Zlatan Ibrahimoviçs last second goal. It was a really lucky one. Latvia won at Israel, and now they're tied with Greece at #2. I always liked them, ever since they managed to get to Euro'04, with only 1 professional player. I wish them luck. France drawed with Romania at home, and they'll likely play play-off. And last, but not least, Kaladze showed his apprecietion for all this years he has spend at Italy, playing for AC Milan, by scoring 2 own goals as Georgia lost 0-2 to Italy at home. ---------- P.S.: Ed, fill me in a little about the fantasy football thing, because I have never played earlier (which is a shame to admit, considering I'm really into the video games). I might join you guys, too.

There's no denying that Chelsea is one of the best teams out there. Ancelotti is a perfect fit for them, and IMO they are favorites to win the EPL, but still some of my Chelsea fan friends already started acting like they're destined to have similar success like Barcelona had last season. They have so many options, that they'll lose fairly little to the non-title contenders, but how will they fair against the top teams remains to be a question mark. (iirc ManU had collected only 5 out of 18 possible points from the games big 4 played against each other last season) Yeah, the thing is, for a couple of days I was just cursing Manure routinely in my everydaylife, so I had to wait a little in order to make a polite post. It's stupid that a penalty is awarded whenever a striker takes the ball away from goals and half the time the ball is not even in the striker's control because they hit it so hard. You'd hardly think the goalie was denying any sort of goal scoring opportunity there. Bring back the in/direct free-kicks inside the box I say! /tangent rant Whether or not the ball was under the striker's control used to be taken into account when awarding a pen, but now that seems to have been lost in favour of giving them for any sort of contact. The old way must have been too sensible Wait, so Eduardo's penalty was similar to Rooney, and Raul penalties? Wow!!! Just WOW. I thought the goalkeeper was sent-off, and it changed the momentum of the game, or something. That's even worse than I thought. For example Raul's penalty wasn't a penalty neither (it was obvious from off-side camera that the keeper didn't touch him.) But I guess we won't see any action about that, because as Ed said, they're just out to get Arsenal. :jimmy: BTW, you guys know how italian teams have a routine at the beginning of each season, where they hold one night tournaments (i.e.: Berlusconi Cup), 3 teams play each other in 45 minute games, and if the teams tie, they go to penalties. In late 90's/ early 00's there there was Bari Cup, and if the temas tied, instead of using actual penalties, players were taking the ball from 30 meters away from the goal, and try to score within 7 seconds. It was way harder than to score on a regular penalty, and way more awesome. I agree that they shall take the difficulty of the situation into consideration. Sometimes a player just gets pushed a little in the corner of the box, and they get a penalty, while another player gets fould just outside of the box, in a 3 on 1 situation gets a freekick. IMO there shall be degrees for penalties. <_<

Also agreed. The whole thing is stupid. Then again, it's UEFA That got me shocked. I didn't see the play, but it probably was an obvious flop from Eduardo, but even if so, 2 game suspesion is BS. I have never even heard of 2 game suspensions for goals scored with hands, leave alone a flop. <_< -------- One other crazy thing I heard is that the Croatian Federation is blaming England for intentionally injuring their key players prior to games they'll have against England. Eduardo was injured by Birmingham prior to England-Croatia Euro08 qualification game, and now Luka Modriç of Spurs is injured, and will be out for 3 months. I didn't see the play that Modriç got injured, but I think it shall raise some eyebrows. If anyone doesn't remember, Eduardo was injured by a Birmingham player in only the 4th minute of the game, while the play wasn't even that threatening to turn into a good scoring situation by Arsenal. I have seen a lot of bad, and harsh fouls, but that was one of he most merciless, and unneccessary ones I have ever seen in my life. I hope our English friends here don't take my words the wrong way, but I think the worries of the Croatian side are quite reasonable.
