Every year theres a major upset. I remember a few years back when South Carolina got upened in the first round by a 15 seed. Good game! And I remember even farther back when 16 Western Carolina nearly beat purdue. I remember that year was chock full of upsets, two number seeds fell in the second round, and three number ones fell in the sweet sixteen.

Sounds like lots of smoke and back tracking to me. Wooden was an excellent recruiter with a mediocre approach to basket. He put some basic idea's up that any moronic coach could figure out, drive n kick, how much of a genius do you have to be to figure that out? Anybody would have been called a good coach back then with those kind of players and with that kind of time to develop them.

And yes the Kansas game was a shock, but I made a gut call earlier in the thread that Syracuse would go down early, I picked the second round, but the first is just as good, just gives MSU, the eventual upsetter of Duke, an easier run.

That Zags game was close, I thought they would atleast get to the 16. Oh well, just means Wake Forest will have a major height advantage IF they win today.

Wooden got the best players in an age where you can spend four years developing players to be there best. These days if Coach K or Dean Smith could keep all their players and played the kind of piss poor competion that Wooden got, they'd be putting up records and number that would put UCLA to shame.
