Yeah, but they had to change their style. Every album they put out until American Idiot was declining in sales. AI made them relevent again. And they were writing good, emotional music before then anyway. "Time of Your Life," "Macy's Day Parade," "Christie Road," etc. Those are some of my favorite of their songs. And the "new guy" I think you're all refering to is their touring guitarist. I remember reading the guy has been playing with Green Day live for like 5 years at this point, and with all the publicity AI got and the fact that Billy Joe can't play all the guitar parts himself now that their music is getting more layered, you're just seeing the touring guitarist more. I don't think he's technically a member of the band.

Just a small addition to all this... isn't the idea that the US might have more beautiful women than other countries pointless? After all, the population of the US (excluding Native Americans, perhaps) is comprised entirely of other nationalities--even if you have to go back 50 generations to see this. You can say Germany has the best women, or France or Italy, etc., but all those nationalities are here in the US, contributing to the overall gene pool. So as far as I'm concerned, saying the US has beautiful women is the same as saying the whole world does and vice versa.
