it's not enough to simply be famous though. most people know Victoria Silvstedt. she's technically a model, and she's really quite famous ... but would anyone consider her a Supermodel?? i certainly hope not. she's a "Glamour Model" or something. a playmate who became famous. SO, a model should have some measure of fashion success. however, SI or VS can count. my point, i guess, is that Christie Brinkley, Niki Taylor, Elle MacPherson, Heidi Klum, Laetitia Casta, Tyra Banks, etc are always referred to as "Supermodels" ... and i really don't think many people would disagree with that. they ARE supermodels. however, they're simply the more commercial type than Linda, Christy, Naomi, Kate, etc etc. (sure, Tyra had some success as a high fashion model, but even a rabid fan like myself can admit that it's been exaggerated). if we were comparing it to actors, we could say that Johnny Depp is a real actor's actor, a star with lots of critical acclaim and success. however, Tom Cruise is still certainly a movie star and absolutely more internationally famous. point is that they're both moviestars. one is of the more "indie-cred" ilk, and the other is pure commercial candy. perhaps Johnny would be Kate and Tom would be Gisele? or Tom = Heidi, Tyra, Elle, etc. Gisele's the queen of them all though. at least in terms of $$$. if you go to Forbes.com right now you can see the latest "Celebrity 100" list. Gisele made $33 MILLION this year. that's actually MORE than Tom Cruise. more than the entire cast of Grey's Anatomy combined. More than any of the Hollywood actresses. 4X more than Kate Moss. 4X more than Heidi Klum. 2X more than Tyra.

does anyone wanna bet that K.K. will be opening the VS show this year? i also really REALLY want her to get more involved in other things outside of VS. sure, she's had a ton of success in the past in the high fashion world -- but if she doesn't get out there and promote herself she'll just be a catalogue model, so boring.

she is absolutely RIDICULOUSLY impossibly gorgeous. all the time. wow. i honestly believe she'd make a great VS Angel, so long as she still kept on doing all her other fashion things. i wish KK would have continued to do both. but i guess the millions of $$$ in the bank probably take away the desire to continue to work all the time.

it's also just a really bad shot lighting-wise. we've seen runway shots of KK's bum plenty of times before, be it on the VS show or Cia Maritima or whatever else. she always looks very toned and tight. i wouldn't be too worried about those couple of pics. ... ... though i am curious to know what she's modelling for. do you think it was just a VS shoot?

^ the little twirl in my avatar, yes? haha. i love that too! some of my absolute favourite VSFS moments have involved KK. the very first time i ever noticed her was in the 2000 show. i remember trying to find pictures of her on the internet, trying to i.d. "that model" and all i could get was "Adriana Sklenarikova". and i knew she wasn't the one i wanted, but i couldn't find the answer. UNTIL the 2001 show. when KK opened it in her red boots and white outfit. she just KILLED it. absolutely amazing walk, sexy sexy sexy, great pose at the end. i was floored. that's when she became my favourite. as soon as she walked out. also, in the 2003 show, when she opens one of the segments and it's very "chill" music. she's got the green boots on and one of the shots is from behind her as she's walking into the lights down the runway. you can just see so clearly her outline and her legs crossing over in front of each other as she's walking. then the camera pans to the runway view and she is so smooooooth. like she's walking on air. i love that! and this past year, the stewardess segment. she just blew me away and made me fall in love with her even more. her impossibly radiant smile as she's walking to "When You Were Young" ... and the shoe coming off and her literally not missing a single beat. the camera angle when she's at the end of the runway, really accentuating her absurdly perfect body and mile-high legs. just amazing. the music was perfect and KK was perfect!

KK obviously has one of the most incredible bodies in the modelling world (perhaps of all time), but people tend to downplay her supremely beautiful face. i love that editorial, even if it's quite simple and small. she's wonderful!

basically then, what i said was that: KK is the "Head Girl" now at VS because she's the only one who's actually been successful in the rest of the modelling world. sure, Adriana has a cosmetics contract and has an advertisement with an Italian cell phone company, BUT, KK is the one with the Vogue, W, Elle, Bazaar, etc covers, the one who's had every high fashion campaign imaginable at some point in her career. she OPENED the VS show in 2001 and has been a major star in each of their shows since. she's just generally more successful as well as respected and known within the industry than any of the other girls. OH --- hahaaaaa. um ... i found the post i thought i put here ... it's actually in KK's thread. erm ... well ... *foot in my mouth* ... yeeaaah. anyway, in terms of actual usage though, i'd say that Ale is more like VS's head girl. they are using her for everything. all the promotions, and shoots, etc. and she was soooo good at last year's show. Ale has a beauty that is very easy to understand, very easy to relate to, whereas i think that KK can be more "love/hate". Adriana has been left behind for sure. i think it's unfair to assume that Selita was hired just because she's black and they needed a black model. she has an incredibly fit and healthy body, gorgeous features, perfect skin, and a spectacular outgoing confident personality. she's perfect for the brand and though i don't think she's the next "Main Angel", i definitely think she's their real rising star and she'll carve out her niche in the entertainment world easily.
