That's exactly right! Pepe and the dozens upon dozens of incarnations of him are often used on Twitch/4Chan and Reddit to express emotions without having to write it. Example without using Pepe You're excited about something. Rather then write something like "OMG! HOLY SHIT!", twitch will use PogChamp = This video will show Chat Spam using emotes and text. You'll see Pepe being used a couple of times because people are happy It's kinda both. Depends on who you're talking to. To the Liberal Media and SJW's they see a lot of twitch emotes as the bastion of the Alt-Right (mostly because they can't meme and get trolled hard by us when we use them).
