It's always interesting glancing thru these and seeing which then-unknowns became not only breakout stars, but maintained a long-running career in the notoriously "disposable" entertainment industry (e.g., Alexandra Paul; Demi Moore, etc.), without flaming out (e.g., Gia Carangi). With a little pride, I remember watching the televised 1985 Elite "Look of the Year" contest and picking the winner (Frederique van der Wal) on the opening introductions, and doing the same for the 1986 Ford Models "Supermodel of the Year" contest (Monika Schnarre). Unlike pageants where one has to wait till the end to see if their leading candidate bombs the interview question, a top model may just have that "It" factor.
