Surprise Screening Of "The Conspirator" In Savannah, Robin Wright Makes Appearance

It's one of the biggest events of the year and believe it or not, it got a little bit bigger with some surprise celebrity guests. The Savannah Film Festival chose Robert Redford's movie "The Conspirator", which was filmed in Savannah, to screen for it's director's choice night. The movie's leading lady also made a surprise appearance after the film. It was a packed house at the Trustees Theater with some people even sitting in the aisles.

After the film we spoke with a number of people and everyone seemed thrilled with how it turned out. "I thought it was great. I really enjoyed it. It was great to see all the scenes of Savannah. It was a great courtroom drama," says Elanor Rhangos. " I love it. I love that it was filmed in Savannah. It was actually filmed behind my college dorms last year and it was just fantastic to see big stars in the city," adds Rachel Silberman. "It was pretty exciting to see all the celebrities here in Savannah. We saw Ian McKellan earlier tonight and got to exchange a few words with him so that was pretty exciting," says Silberman's friend.

In addition to the excitement surrounding the screening, it was also a star studded night! Before "The Conspirator" screened, celebrity publicist and Savannah native Bobby Zarem was awarded the lifetime achievement award by actor Liam Neeson. Neeson was at the film festival to accept an award himself earlier today. After "The Conspirator", actress Robin Wright, who plays Mary Surratt, joined producers on stage to thank Savannah. They said our city truly rolled out the red carpet for them and they enjoyed filming here. They went on to tell the audience how happy they were with the movie and how they hope Savannah will love it too.

If you missed seeing "The Conspirator" tonight you will have to wait until March when it hits theaters.
