I've been looking for this editorial for months!  I knew it was published in ELLE Russia, but didn't know what issue exactly.

I had to buy almost all issues for a couple of years to have finally found it; but I was so freaking happy when I opened a mag and saw Polina's adorable face

ELLE Russia February 2001

"Альтернативный маршрут" / "Alternative Route"

Photographer: Hellin Kay
Fashion Editor: Maria Ryzhikova
Hair & make-up: Aleksey Sychev

This is my favorite photo of Polina and also one of my all-time favorite portraits.

Btw, there is also an interesting story behind this shoot, that's what Hellin Kay wrote in her blog about it:

"This is a photo from Polina Kouklina‘s first shoot for a fashion publication (Russian ELLE to be exact). I photographed her in Moscow for it in 2001 and she went on to become a working model in Paris, Milan and New York just a couple of years after this shoot. I repeatedly told her Russian “mother agency” (an ironic term if ever there was one…) that I didn’t want to shoot girls under the age of 16 and when I saw her at a casting they told me she was 16. On set she told me she was 14 and by the middle of the shoot I found out she was actually 13. Her real mother, if I remember correctly, did not want to send Polina to Japan as her agency suggested, when she was 13 or 14 so they waited a couple of years. Obviously, Polina was never in any danger working with me, but I was uncomfortable shooting girls under a certain age when our industry is based on selling clothes off the bodies of women (or essentially, young girls)".

I believe if Polina was 13, they must've been shooting no later than June 2000.

Aww... you should've asked me ;) I used to run her fansite back in the days and have a list of all her editorials. But thank you posting! What comes to Hellin Kay's post, Polina actually did go to Japan in 2000 and shot for Japanese Elle, but was accompanied with her mother during the trip. Also her first editorial for Russian Elle is from 2000... so young back then!

Here's the list, I can't say it's 100% perfect, but it is pretty accurate. I should have photos of all of them :flower:

After all these years I'm still perplexed by the fact that back in her prime she never got an actual editorial with Vogue Paris, only one page.

FMD credits Polina's first runway show ever as Peter Jensen S/S 2003, but I couldn't find a single picture of it
Guys, if you have anything on that show, please post

Unfortunately no photos exist from that show. Here's a a pretty complete list of shows that she did back then, the lists in FMD & Runwaymayhem have some errors and many missing shows.
