Ronaldo recovering well, says doctor

AC Milan striker Ronaldo is recovering well after knee surgery, according to one of his doctors at a Paris hospital.

"He is recovering well and there is no sign of inflamation," Yves Catonne told French sports daily L'Equipe on Wednesday.

The Brazilian had an operation on a ruptured left knee tendon last week.

"I don't think he wants to quit. I felt he was decided to work and motivated to go on. Even though his return will be a real challenge, because he won't be able to play for eight or nine months."

Ronaldo out by Friday: Paris clinic

PARIS (AFP) - Medical staff in Paris say three-time former world footballer of the year Ronaldo should be able to leave the clinic which operated on his left knee by the end of the week.

The 31-year-old AC Milan striker last Thursday underwent surgery at the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital in Paris on the tendon ruptured in his club's 1-1 draw against Livorno at the San Siro the day before.

And a medical official told AFP on Wednesday: "He won't be leaving on Thursday, it's more likely to be Friday."

Ronaldo is due to remain in Paris for physiotherapy for another 10 days before returning to Milan to continue treatment.

Zinedine Zidane remains hopeful his former Real Madrid teammate Ronaldo can make a successful comeback from his horror knee injury.

Zizou said of the crocked AC Milan striker: "I have played a long time with him, we are very good friends.

"It is true that I've seen him and spoken on the phone, it is sad.

"He came back even stronger (from an injury) in the World Cup of 2002. It is true that his age is important, but I hope he can do it again."

AC Milan striker Ronaldo is getting through a lot of television as he recovers from knee surgery at the Pitie Salpetriere clinic in Paris.

Ronaldo will be released from hospital tomorrow, but will remain in Paris for another ten days to continue his rehab.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has revealed to Brazilian reporters that he's received phone calls from Real Madrid pair Robinho and Julio Baptista, Zinedine Zidane and also has spoken daily with his Milan teammate Kaka.

To pass the time, Ronaldo has been watching plenty of tele - including Brazil's 'Big Brother', courtesy of his subscription to Globo Internacional. The striker admitted he took part in the online voting of last week.
