It’s a very small village in the countryside in Switzerland.” Growing up in Lüterkofen, a small Swiss village, the fashion world seemed very far away to Furrer, who was more interested in horses, dancing and heavy metal. But one day, her grandfather sent some pictures of his granddaughter to an agency in Zürich. And voilà – ”I went straight to Paris after that”, says Furrer. However, she had to wait a while for the big break on the high fashion scene. But when it came, in the Autumn 2014 season to be exact, Furrer was suddenly everywhere. That year, she appeared on over 45 international catwalks, starred in editorials in Vogue Paris and Vogue Italia, and landed prestigious campaigns and lookbook shoots. And Ronja Furrer’s star continues to rise – at the moment, models.com ranks her on the ”Hot List”. Read on to know more about this Swiss beauty. MY FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHER IS… ”So far I’ve been lucky to work with some of the most talented artists in the business. It’s hard to name someone specific. But of course, there are icons like Peter Lindbergh, and I admire the work of Inez & Vinoodh.” IN MY CAREER, I AM MOST PROUD OVER… ”That I have managed to stay grounded, I’d say. It’s not easy in this business. Jobwise, I’d say my first story for French Vogue, and the Chanel ‘supermarket show’ [A/W 2014] – that was definitely a milestone.” MY MOST MEMORABLE SHOOT WAS… ”A Tommy Hilfiger campaign shoot in San Francisco. It was a huge production and a great crew!” THE MUSIC THAT ALWAYS GETS ME GOING AT A SHOOT IS… ”Definitely Drake.” MY CREATIVE OUTLET IS… ”Reading, music, piano.” MY MODEL ICON IS… ”My childhood was in no way related to this business, so I had no icons growing up. Now I would say some of the biggest models, like Christy Turlington, Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen. All of them are really different, I like that.” MY BEAUTY SECRET IS… ”The expected answer would be sleep and a lot of water But honestly, I think it’s about being balanced and content, that brings out the best in you. For me it’s also being out in nature, in fresh air. And to be surrounded by the people I love.” I KEEP IN SHAPE BY… ”Going to the gym. I do pilates and yoga when I’m in New York, and when I’m back in Switzerland I love to go hiking in the countryside.” FOR A QUICK HAIR FIX … ”I put my hair up in a ponytail, that always works!” MY DE-STRESS TRICK IS… ”Nature. And sometimes a glass of good wine!” MY SECRET TALENT IS… ”I play the piano… but it should actually stay a secret :)” I SMELL LIKE… ”Mhmmm, maybe you should ask my boyfriend.” MY FAVOURITE OFF DUTY LOOK IS… ”Sneakers, jeans and a shirt – it’s my all-time favourite.” RIGHT NOW, I AM OBSESSED WITH… ”My recently born baby sister :)” MY FAVOURITE HOTEL IS… ”Pranamar, Costa Rica.” MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS… ”I really like Kronenhalle in Zürich, it’s a very traditional restaurant.
