Amber, Guinevere, and Kate Photographed by Craig McDean: 1993-2005

“The book is [about] the time when I first started my career, and there were three girls whom I photographed more than anything else [Amber Valletta, Guinevere van Seenus and Kate Moss]. I did the book from 1993 to 2005, and I stopped the book when I had digital photography. There is a period of time I spent with such wonderful people, like Marc Ascoli, M/M. It was a different way of working. I wanted to focus on these three girls. They were so giving in their way,” Craig McDean told WWD.

Her first fashion story is to appear in an upcoming spring issue. Moss has featured on 33 British Vogue covers, and in many more inside stories, but this will be her first role on the flip side of editorial images.

Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman said that she was looking forward to working with Moss on her ideas. Praising Moss’ sense of style, Shulman added that the model’s “depth of fashion knowledge and understanding of what makes a wonderful image will be exciting to see used in the pages of British Vogue.”

Kate's Playboy Party In London

KATE MOSS's Playboy launch party will take place in London as it was always meant to, her representatives said today, contrary to rumours that the celebration was originally intended to take place in Los Angeles.

"We do not know where this story has come from," a representative for Storm management said of the speculation. "The position is that the Playboy launch has always been scheduled for London and London alone and is timed to coincide with a major fashion award that Kate is being honoured with."

Although her representatives could not release more details about the award at this time, the British Fashion Awards take place in December, at the same time as the magazine is set to launch. The speculation about the party's location being moved began earlier this week in New York.

"Playboy was planning a huge event in Los Angeles to celebrate Kate and their sixtieth anniversary," a source told Page Six earlier in the week, "but she still has visa issues, so the party had to be cancelled and moved to London."

But Playboy confirmed that the party was always planned for the supermodel's home town.

"Kate Moss is appearing on the cover of our sixtieth anniversary issue and will be featured in a pictorial inside. It will be our January/February 2014 double issue which hits newsstands on Friday December 13. As for the party, we actually always planned on having an event at the Playboy Club in London to celebrate the anniversary and Kate's pictorial."

Moss will cover, as well as feature within, a double issue of the magazine, set to hit newsstands in December.

See Kate Moss’s First Ever Photoshoot

PICTURES of Kate Moss's first ever photoshoot are set to go on show in a new exhibition at London's Lawrence Alkin Gallery, opening on October 31. Photographer David Ross was asked by his friend - Sarah Doukas, who had recently set up her own modelling agency, Storm - to take pictures of a then-14-year old ingénue called Kate Moss, and those first pictures are soon to be displayed to the public

"Kate was a young girl like any other, but with a certain teenage air about her that was piercing," said Ross. "She was against the grain of any other look of the time. She was a cool kid and refreshing in that sense. She just had an attitude and an expression that kind of came easy, I guess."

According to Ross, the Croydon-born beauty didn't seem nervous, but he did his best to ensure that she was as comfortable as possible. The images themselves show the supermodel at her freshest and most pared-back. She wears a white, printed jumper and is seen both laughing and straight-faced.

"I tried to make her feel safe about trying things if she wanted to," he said. "I told her that she was unique and, when I spoke to her, I just willed upon her what I wanted to achieve for her new agency. She didn't need to really do anything - that's the secret. You see, modelling is an art form and having a natural sense of how much to do and how little to do is a skill that you either have or you don't."

With 25 years passed since the pictures were first taken, and Moss's name now universally known, Ross admits that - although he could never have guessed what was in store for his young muse - there was something very special about her.

"These pictures are proof that Kate Moss holds the same mystique as Marilyn Monroe, who had the same elements about her during Fifties," he said. "In many ways, Kate has the sense of just knowing what she can do to people looking at her, via camera or not."

"Kate Moss: Roll 1" is open from October 30 until November 3 at the Lawrence Alkin Gallery, Soho, London
