May 17, 20168 yr Free People New interview for Women's Fitness Magazine Quote 5 minutes with Elyse Taylor Our June cover model, Elyse Taylor, has walked down the Victoria’s Secret runway, she’s strutted her stuff for Dolce & Gabbana, she’s starred in campaigns for Bonds, Forever New and The Iconic and more recently has become the face of Nude By Nature. Did we mention she’s also a mother and manages to maintain a svelte physique while juggling her seriously in-demand sched? Yep, we’re impressed. Digital editor Bec Chambers chatted to Taylor for five minutes about her balancing act, how she stays active and why she always has raw veggies on hand for emergencies. HOW DO YOU LIKE TO TRAIN? I love to be fit but I hate actually working out! Since having my daughter, Lila, I’ve found swimming works best for me… it strengthens, tones, elongates and it’s good for the mind. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE EXERCISE? Yoga, I find it totally depleting and boring. NOW THAT YOU’RE A MOTHER, HAVE YOU GOT ANY SECRET MULTITASKING TIPS FOR LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE? My number one tip is not to buy unhealthy food– if it’s not there you can’t eat it. Really, it’s all about preparation. I cut up lots of raw vegetables like carrot, celery, cucumber, capsicums, sweet peas and zucchini and leave them in an airtight container in the fridge so there are always healthy snacks on hand. I plan out meals so we’re getting a good cross section and variety. It’s also good to have a clean vegan protein powder on hand. Mothers are always busy and juggling different things so rather than miss a meal you can compensate with a protein shake to tide you over. HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO COME BACK TO AUSTRALIA? HOW DO YOU LIKE TO STAY ACTIVE WHEN YOU’RE HERE? I love coming home! And I’ve been fortunate that I’ve been really busy with work out of Australia and coming back a lot which I’m incredibly grateful for. When I’m back, between running after Lila and working I don’t have too much time but I love getting out and doing coastal walks or going for a swim in the ocean. WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN? Enjoy the ride, trust your own instinct above any other and be gracious – life is full circle, you get out what you put in.
