"I told them no," she says. "I was really into my studies and wanted to be a doctor." After a little coaxing from mom, Ieva relented and decided she'd balance her new career with her science textbooks. The 20-year-old graduated from high school last summer and, just a couple of months later, skipped across to London Fashion Week for her first show at Burberry. Since then, she has made high-flying runway appearances across all four fashion capitals, including Lanvin, Bottega Veneta, and Diane von Furstenberg, and she walked the opening spot at Stella McCartney’s spring 2011 show. "I love Stella because she just wants you to be happy and relaxed on the runway," Laguna says. “She wants your personality to come through.” Of course, there have been noteworthy role-playing moments too, including a fashion spread with the devastatingly handsome Tony Ward. "I had to imagine that we were a couple, which wasn't too tricky," she says of Madonna’s former beau.
