She will next be seen starring in Guillermo Arriaga’s directorial debut The Burning Plain, opposite Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger. She is currently on the third season of the TBS comedy The Bill Engvall Show, reprising her role as Lauren Pearson. Written and created by Bill Engvall and Michael Leeson, the show is set in a Denver suburb and follows the life of ‘Bill Pearson’ (played by Engvall), a family counselor whose own family could use a little dose of counseling. She won the Marcello Mastroianni prize, for the best young emerging actor/actress, for her role in The Burning Plain, during Venice Film Festival 2008. Lawrence's other film credits include a lead role in Lori Petty's Poker House opposite Selma Blair and Bokeem Woodbine as well as roles in Devil You Know and Garden Party. March 23, 201115 yr From The Hollywood ReporterMarch 17, 2011The "Winter's Bone" actress takes on role of young heroine Katniss Everdeen in film adaptation.Jennifer Lawrence, the Oscar-nominated star of Winter's Bone, has been officially cast as plucky protagonist Katniss Everdeen in Hunger Games, the upcoming film adaptation of the Suzanne Collins young adult novel. Gary Ross is directing the Lionsgate project, which is being produced by Nina Jacobson and her Color Force banner.Collins said of Lawrence's casting, "Jennifer's just an incredible actress. So powerful, vulnerable, beautiful, unforgiving and brave. I never though we'd find somebody this perfect for the role." Added Ross, "Katniss requires a young actress with strength, depth, complexity, tenderness and power. There are very few people alive who can bring that to a role. Jen brings it in spades."
